All of us know the Chinese character(汉字) “家”. It means home and family in Chinese. “宀” means “house” and “豕” means “pig” . Why is the pig in the house?Well, “家” comes from jiaguwen. In old times, people liked to keep pigs at home, so “a house with pigs” means “home”.
There are some old sayings about this character, such as “There’s no place like home.” and “East or west, home is best.” Both of them tell us home is the best place for everyone.

Are you troubled by housework?A new robot is here to help! Recently(最近), short videos of a robot called Mobile Aloha cooking at someone’s home caught lots of attention(注意) online.
In the videos, we can see the robot preparing dishes, from cutting vegetables to cooking eggs. It’s also good at watering plants, taking care of pets, cleaning the floor and washing clothes. Linda, a housewife joked, “As long as this thing doesn’t try to kill me while I’m asleep, I am in real need of it.”
Well, another video may disappoint her. Mobile Aloha carelessly broke plates, knocked over things and even burned(烧焦) a dish. In fact, Mobile Aloha isn’t

good at doing the housework on its own. Instead, it learns from human actions before doing each kind of housework. When the situation changes, it can’t work well without a human “teaching” it.
“The robot can successfully move chairs 80 per cent of the time,” said the scientists after they did a study into it. For cooking dishes, it’s only 40 per cent. In short, it’s far from perfect. AI robots are good at tasks such as maths and playing chess, but they do worse than a one-year-old child when it comes to simple tasks like cleaning. And it’s the same for Mobile Aloha. For example, if its body doesn’t move correctly—even just with a small difference, its arm may move too far to pick up a glass.
“Robots are not ready to take over the world,” the team said later.

Do you find it hard to motivate(激励) yourself to clean the house?Me too! Cleaning the house is really one of those jobs that never end. But I find some nice ways to get motivated to do the housework.
One of the good ways is to own(拥有) less so that there will be less to keep clean and tidy. Every few months, I throw away something I don’t need or use. The house looks much tidier.
Cleaning the whole(全部的) house in one go can be really difficult, so I make a plan to do a little each day. As a result, when the weekend comes, I finish cleaning almost everything and I don’t need to spend the whole weekend doing the housework.

When I have a lot of housework to do, I’ll always start with the easiest thing. I ask myself which one is going to be the quickest to finish. And that’s the one I will start with. In this way, I feel that doing the housework becomes much easier for me.
I like to listen to music while doing the housework. I sometimes like to sing and dance while doing the housework. And the housework is done before I know it! I feel relaxed at the same time.
