Unit 3 Welcome to our school!-Assessment This unit in the 2024 Yilin English textbook for Grade 7 focuses on the theme of "school". It aims to enable students to talk about their school, school facilities, and school life. Through a series of activities in different sections such as Welcome to the unit, Reading, Grammar, Integration, and Assessment, students will gradually build up their vocabulary related to school, master key sentence patterns for description, and improve their language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The Assessment section, which is the main focus of this lesson plan, provides a comprehensive review and evaluation of students' learning outcomes in this unit, helping them to identify their strengths and weaknesses and promoting further learning. 教学目标 Students will be able to master the key vocabulary about school, such as "library", "playground", "classroom building", "art room", "computer room", etc. Students can correctly use sentence patterns like "There is/are...", "It's on/in/near...", "How many... are there?" to describe school facilities and their locations. Students will review and consolidate the grammar points learned in this unit, including the use of "some" and "any", and the simple present tense for general descriptions. 教学重难点 The key vocabulary and sentence patterns for describing school facilities and locations. The correct use of grammar points such as "There is/are...", "some" and "any", and the simple present tense in the context of school description. Mastering different assessment methods and being able to apply knowledge to complete assessment tasks. 1. Vocabulary School facilities: library, playground, classroom building, art room, music room, computer room, science lab, gym, canteen Others: many, a lot of, some, any, building, ground floor, first floor, second floor, etc. 2. Sentence Patterns There is a library in our school. There are many classrooms in the classroom building. It's on the first floor. How many classrooms are there in your school? Are there any computer rooms? Yes, there are. / No, there aren't. I like the playground because I can play basketball there. 3. Grammar "There be" structure: used to express the existence of something. The singular form is "There is...", and the plural form is "There are...". "Some" and "any": "Some" is usually used in affirmative sentences to mean "a certain number or amount". "Any" is often used in negative and interrogative sentences. But in some polite requests or offers, "some" can also be used in interrogative sentences. Simple present tense: used to describe habitual actions, general truths, and current situations. For example, "We have four classes in the morning." The verb form changes according to the subject. For the third - person singular subject (he, she, it), add -s or -es to the verb. 教学过程 1. Warming - up (5 minutes) Greet the students as usual. Then show some pictures of different schools on the PPT, including the school gate, classrooms, library, playground, etc. Ask students: "What can you see in these pictures? Do you like these schools? Why or why not?" Encourage students to express their opinions briefly. This activity can arouse students' interest and lead in the topic of this assessment class - school. 2. Knowledge Review (10 minutes) Vocabulary Review: Show the words of school facilities on the PPT one by one, and ask students to read them aloud quickly. Then play a "guessing game". The teacher describes a school facility in English, for example, "It's a place where you can borrow books." and asks students to guess what it is. This can help students review and reinforce the vocabulary. Sentence Pattern Review: Write some incomplete sentences related to school description on the blackboard, such as "There ____ (be) a music room in our school." "____ (be) there any art rooms?" and ask students to come to the blackboard to fill in the blanks. After that, let students make their own sentences using these sentence patterns and share them with the class. Grammar Review: Use some simple examples to review the "There be" structure, the usage of "some" and "any", and the simple present tense. For example, write two groups of sentences on the PPT: "There is a book on the desk." and "There are some books on the desk." Then ask students to explain the differences. And for the simple present tense, give some sentences like "He goes to school by bike every day." and "They play football after school." and ask students to find out the rules of verb forms. 3. Assessment Activities (20 minutes) (1) Listening Assessment (5 minutes) Play a short dialogue recording about students talking about their school facilities on the PPT. The dialogue can include information about the location of different rooms in the school, the number of certain facilities, etc. Before playing, give students some questions to answer, such as "How many science labs are there in their school?" "Where is the library?" Play the recording twice. After that, ask students to answer the questions. This activity can assess students' listening comprehension ability. (2) Speaking Assessment (8 minutes) Divide students into pairs. Each pair is required to have a conversation about their school. They can introduce their favorite school facilities, why they like them, and what they usually do in these places. The teacher walks around the classroom to listen to their conversations, and gives necessary guidance and encouragement. After a few minutes, invite some pairs to come to the front of the class and show their conversations. Other students listen and can ask some questions after the performance. This activity can evaluate students' speaking fluency and accuracy, as well as their ability to communicate in English. (3) Reading Assessment (4 minutes) Provide a short passage about a school on the PPT. The passage can contain information about the school's layout, facilities, and some activities. Set some reading comprehension questions, such as multiple - choice questions and true - or - false questions. For example, "What is the main color of the school building?" "Is there a swimming pool in the school?" Let students read the passage quickly and answer the questions. This can test students' reading ability and their ability to extract key information from the text. (4) Writing Assessment (3 minutes) Give students a writing task: "Write a short passage about your ideal school. You can describe the facilities, the environment, and the activities in your ideal school." Give them a few minutes to write. While students are writing, the teacher can walk around and offer some help if needed. After they finish writing, ask some students to read their passages aloud, and the teacher gives simple comments on their writing, focusing on grammar, vocabulary usage, and content organization. 4. Summary and Homework (10 minutes) Summary (5 minutes): Summarize the key points of this assessment class with students, including the vocabulary, sentence patterns, and grammar we have reviewed and practiced. Emphasize the importance of mastering these knowledge points for better description of school - related topics. Also, briefly summarize the performance of students in the assessment activities, praise the good performance of students, and point out the common mistakes and areas for improvement. Homework (5 minutes): Ask students to make a poster about their school. They can draw pictures of different school facilities and write some English descriptions next to them. Let students write a more detailed passage about their school life, including their daily study, activities, and the teachers and classmates they like. This homework can further consolidate students' learning in this unit and improve their language skills. 教学反思 After this class, students have had a comprehensive review and assessment of the knowledge in Unit 3. Through various assessment activities, most students can master the key vocabulary and sentence patterns related to school, and can use them to describe school facilities and life to a certain extent. However, there are still some problems. In the grammar part, especially the usage of "some" and "any", some students still make mistakes, which indicates that more exercises and examples are needed in future teaching. During the speaking and writing assessments, some students lack confidence and their language expressions are relatively simple. In the future, more speaking and writing practice opportunities should be provided, and students can be guided to use more vivid and diverse words and sentence patterns. Overall, this assessment class has achieved certain teaching results, but there is still room for improvement in teaching methods and content arrangement to better meet the learning needs of students. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
