教学过程
Lead - in (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures of people getting along well, such as friends playing together, classmates helping each other, etc. Then ask students: “What can you see in these pictures? How do you feel when you see them?” Encourage students to express their feelings freely.
Vocabulary Learning (10 minutes)
Present the new words and expressions on the PPT one by one, and teach students how to pronounce them correctly. For example, when teaching “get along with”, pronounce it clearly and ask students to repeat several times.
Explain the meanings and usage of the words and expressions with examples. For “quarrel”, give an example like “Tom had a quarrel with his sister about watching TV last night.” Let students understand the context in which this word is used.
Ask students to make their own sentences with these new words and expressions, and invite some students to share their sentences in class. Give them proper praise and correction.
Quote Analysis (15 minutes)
Show the quotes on the PPT, and ask students to read them silently first.
Explain the first quote “Not everyone thinks the way you think, knows the things you know, believes the things you believe, nor acts the way you would act. Remember this and you will go a long way in getting along with people.” sentence by sentence. Analyze the meaning of each part and let students understand that people are different, and we should respect these differences in getting along with others.
Divide students into groups of four to discuss the second quote “We need people, we need the cooperation of others. There is very little we can do alone.” Ask each group to think about why cooperation is important and give some examples in their daily life.
Invite some groups to share their discussion results. The teacher can give supplementary explanations and guidance to deepen students’ understanding of the quotes.
Picture Discussion (10 minutes)
Show a picture related to getting along with others, for example, a picture of two classmates having a conflict. Ask students: “What can you see in this picture? Do you think they are getting along well? Why or why not?”
Let students discuss in pairs about what the two classmates should do to solve the problem. Encourage them to use the learned vocabulary and expressions in their discussion.
Invite several pairs of students to act out their solutions in front of the class, and the rest of the students can give their comments.
Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summarize the key points of this class, including new words, expressions and the main ideas of the quotes. Review with students what they have learned about getting along with others.
Assign homework:
Ask students to write a short passage about their experiences of getting along with others. They should use at least three new words or expressions learned in this class.
Ask students to collect more quotes about getting along with others and share them in the next class.
教学反思
After this class, most students showed great interest in the theme of getting along with others. Through various activities like vocabulary learning, quote analysis, picture discussion, students actively participated in class and achieved the expected teaching goals to a certain extent. However, there are still some areas that need improvement.
During the group discussion of the quotes, some students were a little shy and did not actively express their opinions. In future classes, more encouragement and guidance should be given to these students to make them more confident in speaking. Also, when asking students to make sentences with new words, some students’ sentences were a bit simple. In the next class, it can be considered to provide more complex sentence - making tasks to further improve students’ language application ability. In general, this class laid a good foundation for the following learning of this unit, and continuous improvement of teaching methods will be carried out to better meet students’ learning needs.
