Unit 1 A new start-Reflection “Unit 1 A new start” is the first unit of the English textbook for Grade 7 of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (2024). This unit focuses on the theme of “a new start” in junior high school life. It contains rich reading materials, vocabulary, and grammar knowledge closely related to school life, helping students adapt to the new learning environment and improve their English proficiency. Through various activities such as reading, speaking, writing, and listening, students can understand the differences between junior high school and primary school, express their feelings and experiences about the new start, and master relevant language knowledge and skills. 教学目标 Students can master key vocabulary related to school life, such as “junior high”, “classmate”, “subject”, “activity”, “problem”, “feelings”, etc. Students can correctly use relevant sentence patterns to describe their school life, such as “My first week at junior high was...”, “I have... subjects at school”, “I like... because...”. Students can understand and use personal pronouns and possessive pronouns accurately. 教学重难点 1 Teaching Key Points Mastery of key vocabulary and sentence patterns related to school life. Ability to use English to describe one's own school life. Understanding and correct use of personal pronouns and possessive pronouns. 2 Teaching Difficult Points Using language flexibly in real - life situations to express complex ideas and emotions. Improving students' comprehensive language application ability, especially in speaking and writing. 1 Vocabulary School - related nouns: junior high (初中), classmate (同学), subject (学科), activity (活动), timetable (时间表), homework (家庭作业), classroom (教室), teacher (老师), schoolyard (校园) Descriptive adjectives: exciting (令人兴奋的), interesting (有趣的), challenging (具有挑战性的), difficult (困难的), easy (容易的), friendly (友好的) Verbs: start (开始), like (喜欢), enjoy (享受), find (发现), have (有), do (做) Pronouns: personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, they) and possessive pronouns (my, your, his, her, its, our, their) 2 Sentence Patterns Introduction of oneself and school life: My name is... I am... years old. I study at... junior high school. Expressing likes and dislikes: I like... because... / I don't like... because... Describing school activities: I have... classes every day. I often do... after class. Asking and answering questions: What subject do you like best? / How many subjects do you have? / What do you think of your new school? 3 Grammar Personal pronouns and possessive pronouns: understanding their forms and usage in sentences. For example, “I like my school. My classmates are friendly.” 教学过程 1 Warming - up (5 minutes) Greet the students and show some pictures of different junior high schools. Ask them: “What can you see in the pictures? Do you like your new school? Why or why not?” Let students share their ideas briefly. This can arouse students' interest and lead them into the topic of the new start in junior high school. 2 Revision (8 minutes) Review the vocabulary learned in the previous lessons. Use flashcards to show words like “junior high”, “classmate”, “subject” etc., and ask students to read and spell them. Randomly select some students to stand up and describe their school life using the sentence patterns learned before, such as “I have Chinese, Maths and English every day. I like PE class because it's very interesting.” 3 Knowledge Explanation (12 minutes) Vocabulary expansion: Introduce some new words related to school life, such as “library” (图书馆), “laboratory” (实验室), “club” (俱乐部). Explain their meanings and usages through pictures and examples. For example, “We can borrow books from the library. There are many interesting books there.” Sentence pattern reinforcement: Teach students some more complex sentence patterns, like “Although the homework is a bit much, I can still finish it on time.” Explain the usage of “although” and let students imitate to make sentences. Grammar focus - pronouns: Review personal pronouns and possessive pronouns in detail. Show some sentences on the blackboard, such as “He is my good friend. His bag is blue.” Analyze the functions of “he” and “his” in the sentences, and then give students some exercises to practice, like filling in the blanks with proper pronouns. 4 Group Activity (15 minutes) Divide students into groups of 4 - Give each group a topic: “My wonderful school life in the first week”. Let them discuss in groups and make a mind - map about it. They can include aspects like new friends, interesting classes, school activities, etc. Each group selects a representative to present their mind - map to the whole class. During the presentation, other students can ask questions. For example, if a group mentions an interesting PE class, others can ask “What did you do in the PE class?” This activity can improve students' cooperation ability, language expression ability and critical thinking ability. 5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summarize the key points of this class, including new vocabulary, sentence patterns and the usage of pronouns. Ask students if they have any questions. Assign homework: Write a short passage about “My school life in the first month” with at least 80 words, using the knowledge learned in this unit. Ask students to collect more information about school clubs in English and be ready to share in the next class. 教学反思 After this class, most students showed great interest in the topic of junior high school life and actively participated in class activities. Through group work, students' cooperation ability and language communication ability were effectively improved. However, there are still some problems. Some students are still not very proficient in using new vocabulary and sentence patterns, especially in speaking. In future teaching, more oral practice activities should be designed to help them improve. Also, when explaining grammar knowledge, some students seemed a little confused. It is necessary to use more vivid examples and exercises to help them understand. In general, this class achieved certain teaching goals, but there is still room for improvement in teaching methods and content arrangement. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
