Warming - up (5 minutes) Greet the students as usual. Show some pictures of people celebrating New Year's Day on the screen. Ask students: "What do you usually do on New Year's Day?" Encourage several students to share their experiences. Then lead in the topic: "As the new year comes, people often make resolutions. Do you know what resolutions are? Let's learn more about them in this class." 2. Pre - listening (10 minutes) 1a Present the pictures in 1a on the screen. Let students look at the pictures carefully and read the phrases below. Ask them to match the pictures with the correct resolutions. Give them a few minutes to complete this task. Check the answers together. Point to each picture and ask students to say the corresponding resolution. For example, point to the picture of a person running and ask: "What's this resolution?" Students answer: "Get lots of exercise." 1b Invite two students to read the dialogue in 1b aloud. Then explain the key points in the dialogue, such as the usage of "be going to" and new words. Let students work in pairs. They should make similar dialogues using the resolutions in 1a. Walk around the classroom to offer help and guidance. After a few minutes, invite some pairs to come to the front of the classroom and act out their dialogues. Praise their good performance. 3. While - listening (15 minutes) 1c Tell students that they will listen to a conversation between Alex and Dave about their New Year's resolutions. Before listening, let them look at the resolutions in the box in 1c. Play the recording for the first time. Students just listen and get a general idea of the conversation. Play the recording again. This time, ask students to circle the resolutions they hear. Check the answers with the whole class. 1d Say to the students: "Now let's listen to the conversation again. This time, please fill in the blanks in 1d." Play the recording for the third time. Students listen carefully and fill in the blanks. Check the answers one by one. Explain any difficult points or new expressions that appear in the listening material, such as "I'm not sure yet." and "How about you?" 4. Post - listening (10 minutes) 1e Let students think about their own New Year's resolutions. They can write down at least three resolutions in their notebooks. Then ask them to work in pairs. They should share their resolutions with their partners and ask each other questions, like "How are you going to do that?" and "Why do you make this resolution?" Walk around the classroom, listen to their conversations, and offer necessary help. After that, invite some students to share their resolutions and their partners' comments with the whole class. 5. Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Summary Summarize the key points of this class with the students, including new words, phrases, and sentence patterns. Write them on the blackboard: New words and phrases: resolution, be able to, have to do with, take up... Sentence patterns: What are you going to do next year? I'm going to... Emphasize the importance of making and keeping resolutions. Homework Ask students to write a short passage about their New Year's resolutions. They should include at least three resolutions and how they plan to achieve them. Tell them to share their passages with their families and get their parents' advice. 教学反思 After this class, generally, students showed great interest in the topic of New Year's resolutions. The warming - up activity successfully attracted their attention and led to the topic smoothly. In the pre - listening part, most students could actively participate in matching pictures and making dialogues, which laid a good foundation for the following listening activities. During the while - listening process, although some students had difficulties in catching all the key information at once, through multiple listenings and detailed explanations, they gradually understood the listening material. The post - listening activity gave students enough opportunities to express their own ideas, which improved their speaking and thinking abilities. However, there were also some problems. For example, in the pair - work of 1b, some students were a little shy and didn't communicate actively enough. In the future, more encouragement and guidance should be given to these students. Also, when checking the answers of the listening part, the speed could be adjusted according to the actual situation of the students to ensure that every student could keep up. In addition, for the homework of writing a passage, some students might need more specific guidance, such as how to organize the structure of the passage. Next time, a simple writing model can be provided to help them. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
