Present some pictures if necessary. fire electricity traffic accident drowning Step 2 Thinking about it Have you ever climbed onto a chair or a desk to reach something? Was it safe? What should you do if you see someone fall? Let some students share their experiences in front of the class. Step 3 Presentation 1. Show some pictures to teach the new words safety, ambulance, careful, decorate, hang, ceiling, lie, serious, and necessary. —My leg is broken. —For your safety, we should call an ambulance. n. 安全;平安 n. 救护车 safe adj. 安全的;平安的 ( Be careful ! (2) Did Brian need an ambulance? (3) Who is Jenny going to call? 2. Ask them to work out the answers in groups. 3. Elicit answers by asking individual students to read the sentences out. Answers: (1) Mr. Jones’ chair. (2) No, he didn’t. (3) Brian’s mother. 4. Let the students work in pairs and work out the facts about the accident. (1) Why did Danny climb onto the chair? (2) Was Danny careful? (3) Why didn’t Danny use a ladder? (4) Did Danny hurt himself? (5) Why did Danny land on top of Brian? (6) Was Brian hurt? Answers: (1) Because he couldn’t reach the ceiling. (2) No, he wasn’t. (3) Because he thought he was tall enough. (4) Yes, he did. His tail hurt a little, but it was not serious. (5) Because Brian tried to catch him, but Danny landed on top of him. (6) Yes. His arm hurt. 5. Let them read again and fill in the blanks. Beginning Danny was going to a star from the ceiling. He thought he was tall and didn’t need a ladder. I don’t think my arm is broken. 我认为我的胳膊没折。 否定前移 否定前移是把某些动词后的宾语从句的否定词前移到主句上,即主句的谓语动词用否定式,而从句的谓语动词用肯定式。否定前移要满足以下几个条件: (1) 主句谓语动词think, believe, suppose, imagine等后跟有否定意义的宾语从句; (2) 主句主语为第一人称I或we; (3) 时态为一般现在时。 I don’t think you are at the museum. 我以为你不在博物馆。 7. The school is concerned about the safety of the children.学校关心孩子们的安全。 (1)be concerned about关心 与be worried about或worry about表达的意思相近。 People are concerned about the boy’s future.人们关心这个男孩的将来。 (2) safety名词,意为“安全”。其反义词为danger “危险”。 Children!
