Although Jaggi’s parents initially thought his experiments were just a boyhood fancy,he remained determined to make a difference to the environment.Eventually, his parents came around and started supporting his dreams.Jaggi’s interest continued as he grew up,but he focused more on solving real problems, especially those related to the environment.     At 17,Jaggi went beyond his school projects and co-founded Ecoviate,a company that uses technology to solve everyday energy and environmental problems. He planned to transform people’s idea that going green is expensive,by making available a series of affordable products that are easy to use.Through Ecoviate,he designed products that could contribute to a greener future. One of his notable inventions was the “CO2ube”,a device that could be attached to vehicle tailpipes to reduce carbon emissions, and it’s available to many people at low prices. He also created a smartwatch that changed body heat into energy, which can be used to power up the watch as well as mobile phones. Young Jaggi, now a third-grade college student studying engineering and economics, has become a famous eco-innovator and his company is developing promisingly. However,Jaggi’s vision to save the environment goes beyond creating products. He plans to launch an online platform through Ecoviate, which will encourage young students interested in science and technology to get actively involved in innovation and invention.Students can submit a science project online, and talk about the help that they need to make the project a reality. B.To empower young inventors. C.To provide eco-themed courses. D.To offer environmentalists funds. 根据最后一段中的“which will encourage young students...involved in innovation and invention”可知,Jaggi推出在线平台是为了鼓励对科学技术感兴趣的年轻学生积极参与创新和发明。 B (2024·广东广州综合测试一)There’s a classic short story in which a young man travels years ahead and meets his future self. Narratives like this have always been related to science fiction. But what if you could meet your future self? I’m a psychologist and professor. My research over the past 15 years isn’t far from this theme.I’ve largely focused on how people think about and relate to their future selves, and explored the reasons why we have such a hard time making long-term decisions. In my research,I’ve learnt that we often imagine our future selves like strangers, which can impede us in making long-term choices. One way to bridge the emotional gap is to think of future selves in more concrete and vivid ways, like writing letters to and from one’s future self, which can strengthen the connection between current and future selves. Admittedly, having people engage in an imagined conversation is a far cry from actually meeting one’s future self. But it’s believed that far richer interactions may happen in the near future through artificial intelligence (AI).It wouldn’t be predicting exactly what choices you’d make. It’d be more about showing your potential, based on the lives of people similar to you: not just one possible life for you,but rather the most possible life path for you.Such interactions could offer valuable insights into our potential future selves.    So,to return to my original question:if you could time-travel to meet your future self, what aspects of your life would you want to know more about? I realized, through thorough reflections, that the most powerful questions would be ones that helped me make better choices today—questions exploring personal growth, regrets and unfulfilled actions. Actually, you don’t need to wait for time travel or advanced AI for answers that you can act on.Through my research,I’ve learnt that simply taking a bit of time to picture this meeting can help you make better choices now.All you need is a little imagination, and the willingness to put yourself in the shoes of a person you currently treat as a stranger. 5 6 7 8 5.Why is it difficult for people to make long-term decisions according to the author?( ) A.Technology for time travel is not available. B.Strangers cannot help with decision-making. C.Writing letters to one’s future self is impractical. D.People find it hard to connect with their distant selves. D。 5 6 7 8 6.What does the underlined phrase “a far cry from” mean in paragraph 3?( ) A.Contradictory to. B.Very different from. C.Not as convenient as. D.Less popular than. 根据下文中的“But it’s believed that far richer interactions...through artificial intelligence(AI).(但人们相信,在不久的将来,通过人工智能可能会发生更丰富的互动)”可知,让人们进行想象中的对话与真正见到未来的自己相去甚远,也就是说想象的与现实的十分不同,故a far cry from与very different from同义。 5 6 7 8 7.Which question would the author most likely ask his future self? ( ) A.Why hasn’t my hard work ever paid off? B.What can AI do to help people become better persons? C.If given the chance, what would you have done differently? D.How can I succeed without going through all the difficulties in life? 根据第四段最后一句中的“the most powerful questions would be ones...questions exploring personal growth, regrets and unfulfilled actions”可知,作者意识到,最有力的问题将是那些帮助自己今天作出更好的选择的问题,也就是探索个人成长、遗憾和未实现的行动的问题。 5 6 7 8 8.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?( ) A.Time Travel:What If You Met Your Future Self? B.My Research:How Do People View Their Future Selves? C.Emotional Gap:Why Can’t We Talk with Our Future Selves? D.Artificial Intelligence:Is It Possible to Meet Your Future Self? (2024·辽宁沈阳质量监测一) When it comes to studying, most of us bank on being able to focus on our subject like a shooter focusing on his target. G.It’s important to do your listening actively and single-mindedly. 3. D。 ·Listen Focused listening is a life skill, one that can be applied in many areas.4( ) When you do this, you’ll discover that deep listening is HARD WORK and requires brainpower.  A.You can cross things out, one by one. B.Doing it isn’t supposed to be necessary. C.It takes effort, but the results are well worth it. D.One simple practice is to focus on your breathing. E.Let’s see what you can do to build your focus power. F.You’ll be physically strong if you can power up your focus. G.It’s important to do your listening actively and single-mindedly. 4. ·Read difficult works Read long-form pieces of work at a slow, deliberate pace. Reading difficult material successfully requires real concentration and determination, and your willpower will grow accordingly. Focus is a skill you can nurture in yourself.5( ) The more you work on it, the more focused you will stay.  A.You can cross things out, one by one. B.Doing it isn’t supposed to be necessary. F.You’ll be physically strong if you can power up your focus. G.It’s important to do your listening actively and single-mindedly. 5. (2024·新课标Ⅰ卷)Heatherwick Studio recently built a greenhouse at the edge of the National Trust’s Woolbeding Gardens. My colleague and I were co-signing an emergency financial aid check for a student at First Nations University of Canada in Regina, then he left for the day. As I was packing up, I noticed he had left his laptop bag there. “Shoot,” he said when I called him. “I’m already home.” “I can bring it to you,” I assured him. It was just past 4:30 p.m. The snow wasn’t supposed to start until later. It took me about 15 minutes to get to my colleague’s house, where I dropped off the laptop case and got right back on the road. Then suddenly the snow started—and it was coming down fast. Within minutes I was in a whiteout. The road soon switched from pavement to gravel (碎石),forcing me to slow down. The windows were fogging up and getting covered with snow. It was extremely cold outside. I didn’t have a clue where I was or even which side of the road I was on. I kept the car running to stay warm and called 911, but they said nobody was coming to get me until morning at the earliest. It was now about 6 p.m. and dark. I stopped the car and texted my colleague whose laptop bag I had just returned. But he had an idea. “Pin your location and send it to me,” he said. I did, and a few minutes later he texted me back a screenshot of the satellite view of where I was. We figured out that I was on a road called Bouvier Lane, in between two farms. It was now 6:30 p.m.We posted this new information to our community group, pleading (恳求) for anyone who knew who lived on the farms to help me get rescued. Soon enough, though, people started chiming in (发表评论) on my post. They knew the farmer who lived there! I got a message from someone who was going to put me in touch with him. At 8 p.m., my cell phone rang.____________________________ ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ By 5:30 the next morning, walking out of the house, I found two people on the driveway._____________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 写作思路: 故 事 梗 概 作者和同事在为一个加拿大第一民族大学的学生签署紧急经济援助支票后,同事就离开了,但是当作者收拾东西时注意到同事的笔记本电脑包留在了那里,可此时同事已经到家了。 同时最后应该表达对农夫的感激,升华主题 [参考范文] At 8 p.m., my cell phone rang. It was the farmer who owned the land beside the road I was stranded on. He told me that he was coming to get me. Then, about 45 minutes later, I saw a tall figure walking towards me in the dark, and I’d never been more relieved to see someone in my life.“Hey,” he shouted, with his voice steady, “follow me in your car. You’ll be OK.” I drove slowly behind him. When we reached the house, I got out of the car and burst into tears, all my fears turning into relief and gratitude.  By 5:30 the next morning, walking out of the house, I found two people on the driveway. It was the farmer and my colleague! They had cleared the snow from the driveway so that we could all get out and drive home. My colleague came up to me and said that he felt sorry about me all night long, and he joked that my good deeds had turned into a disaster. But as for me, “All is well that ends well.” And best of all, it brought the farmer into my life. We’re still in touch, and I know we’ll be friends forever.  $$
