Jumbo was taken from the African savanna(热带雨林) by a group of nomadic hunters(游牧猎人) when he was just four years old. They killed his mother, and sold him to the London zoo. Debate Zoos play an important role in educating the public. Good zoos invite the public to learn more about nature, and instigate(鼓动) their curiosity towards nature. Zoos are a place for animals that are unsuitable for the wild to stay. When an animal is permanently hurt or disabled, they can stay in the zoo and continue to live. Zoos are a place for the protection of endangered and valuable species. Endangered animals can breed in the zoo and potentially be introduced to the wild in the future. Yes: No: Animals kept at the zoo are not free. They are permanently trapped in a cage. Zoos are inhumane. Behaviors of visitors can be very destructive to the animals. For instance, zoo visitors that feed animals, shout at the animals, and throw things into the cages are harmful to the wellbeing of animals. Animal performances are cruel and bad for the animals.
