Be able to talk about personal school life and favourite school activities, using correct vocabulary and sentence structures. II. Language Knowledge 1. Key sentences My school is a beautiful place with trees and a lawn. We can read, study, and listen to interesting lectures there. We learn more subjects at middle school, such as geography, science, and history. There are a lot of clubs and activities in our school. To me, school life is not only a journey of learning but also a journey of discovering. 3. Key and challenging points Comprehend the article and complete related reading tasks (matching main ideas, true/false questions, answering questions). Use correct forms of words to complete sentences and passages. Think critically about school activities and express personal opinions. III. Teaching Procedures Learning activities: Step 1 Lead - in Ask Ss two questions: Do you like your school? How is it different from your primary school? What colourful activities do you have in your school? Invite some Ss to share their answers. Then say: Today, we will read an article about Jane's colourful school life. Step 2 Reading & Comprehension Work on Activity B1 T: Skimming is reading a text quickly to understand what it is about. Check the title, pictures, and the first sentence of each paragraph to get the main ideas. Now match the main ideas with paragraphs 1–5. Ask Ss to skim the article and match the main ideas. Then check the answers together. Work on Activity B2 T: Read the sentences and write T (true) or F (false). Ask Ss to read the sentences and judge if they are true or false. Then check the answers. Work on Activity B3 T: Answer the questions based on the article. Ask Ss to read the questions and find answers in the article. Then invite some Ss to share their answers. Step 3 Word work Work on Activity B4 T: Write the words from the text and their word classes. Use the meanings and the first letters to help you. Ask Ss to finish the task independently and then check the answers. Work on Activity B5 T: Complete the sentences with the correct forms of the words you wrote in B4. Ask Ss to finish the task and then check the answers. Work on Activity B6 T: Complete the passage about Tim's school life with the correct forms of the words in the box. Ask Ss to finish the task and then check the answers. Step 4 Critical thinking Work on Critical thinking tasks Recall: T: List the colourful activities Jane and her classmates can do in their school. Evaluate: T: List some activities in your school. How do you like them? Fill in the table. Create: T: Some students are talking about interesting activities in their middle schools. Tell them about your favourite school activity. Divide Ss into groups and let them discuss these tasks. Then invite some groups to share their ideas. IV. Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness Assess Ss' comprehension of the article by observing their answers in Activities B1, B2, and B3. Observe whether Ss can use correct word forms to complete sentences and passages in Activities B4, B5, and B6. Evaluate Ss' critical thinking abilities and oral expression by observing their discussions and sharing in the critical thinking tasks. This lesson helps Ss improve reading comprehension and word - using skills. It also enhances their critical thinking and ability to express personal opinions about school life. V. Design Purpose The lead - in activates Ss' prior knowledge about school life and sparks their interest in the article. Reading and comprehension activities help Ss understand the article content and practice reading skills. Word work activities reinforce vocabulary learning and usage. Critical thinking tasks encourage Ss to think deeply about school activities, share personal experiences, and develop creativity and expression abilities. VI.
