When did the singer/writer first become famous? (e.g., Taylor Swift first became famous in the late 2000s with her country music.)
How and why did he/she first become famous? (e.g., She became famous for her songwriting skills and relatable country songs.)
What famous songs/books has he/she recorded/written? When? (e.g., Love Story (2008), Shake It Off (2014))
How many CDs/books has he/she sold? (e.g., She has sold millions of albums worldwide.)
How did you find out about him/her? (e.g., I heard her songs on the radio.)
Is he/she still popular today? (e.g., Yes, she is still very popular.)
Have you introduced this singer/writer to others? (e.g., Yes, I have recommended her songs to my friends.)
How do you feel about his/her music/books? (e.g., I love her music because it's catchy and tells great stories.)
Have you ever played/sung his/her songs yourself? (e.g., Yes, I have sung Love Story at a school talent show.)
Students share their fact lists in pairs.
Step 2 Writing an Article about a Singer/Writer (10 minutes)
(3b) Task: Students write an article about the singer or writer using their fact list and the provided words and phrases. Example article (about Taylor Swift):
The first line in one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs is “We were both young when I first saw you” from Love Story. This song was written and recorded by Taylor Swift. It enjoyed great success and is one of her most famous songs. I listen to this song when I want to feel nostalgic. The song makes me feel romantic and reminds me of young love. Taylor Swift first became famous in the late 2000s with her country music. She has written many famous songs like Shake It Off and sold millions of records. She is still very popular today, and I have introduced her to many of my friends. I love her music because it's always relatable and has great melodies. I have even sung her songs at school events!
Students write their articles, then share some with the class.
Step 3 Grammar Practice (15 minutes)
(Self Check 1) Task: Students fill in the blanks with the correct words in the box:

Check answers, explaining preposition usage and verb tenses (past simple for completed past actions; present perfect for actions with connection to now).
Step 4 Sharing Weekly Experiences (10 minutes)
(Self Check 3) Task: Students make a list of the things they have done and the ones they haven't done yet this week, then ask two other students. Example chart:
