Nowadays, many schools in China are teaching life skills as well as traditional school subjects. Some people say this prepares students better for life in the real world, while some say it is not necessary.
In my opinion, schools should prepare us students for our future life. Life skills such as budget planning and saving money can stop us from overspending. It is also a good idea to learn cooking. This skill is the most helpful to you when you live by yourself.
On the other hand, some people think that there is no time for extra subjects at school and students should learn life skills only at home. As for me, I think we are learning many life skills while taking a traditional class. For example, we can learn teamwork by playing group games in a PE class, and doing our homework teaches us skills in time planning.

The True Meaning of Home
Home is a place that holds a special place in our hearts, filled with memories, love, and a sense of belonging. Here are some aspects that contribute to the true meaning of home.
Security and Comfort
A home provides a safe haven (避风港) from the outside world. 1 When we are inside our homes, we feel protected from the bad weather, harm, and the stresses of daily life. Everything in the home helps create a nice environment to relax and rest after a busy day. Whether it’s a small apartment or a large house, the sense of comfort that a home offers is irreplaceable (不可替代的).
Family and Togetherness
Home is where our family members gather. 2 It’s the place where we share meals, celebrate birthdays, and have heart-to-heart conversations. The laughter, hugs, and even the arguments that take place within the walls of our homes are all part of what makes it so special. These shared experiences help family members grow closer and create lasting memories.
Personal Expression
Our homes show who we are. 3 We decorate our living spaces with items that we love, such as family photos, artworks, and souvenirs (纪念品) from our travels. Each room in the house tells a story about our interests and personality, making our homes truly unique.
Roots and Identity
For many people, home is associated with their roots. 4 It’s the place where we grew up, learned important life lessons, and formed our values. Even if we move away, the memories of our childhood stay with us and shape our identity. Home gives us a sense of where we come from and provides a connection to our past.
A Place of Growth
Home is also a place where we grow and develop. 5 It’s where we learn to take care of ourselves, manage responsibilities, and make decisions. From learning to cook our first meal to dealing with difficult times, our home environment plays an important role in our personal growth. It’s a place that nurtures (培养) us and helps us become the people we are today.
In conclusion, home is more than just a building. It’s a place full of security, love, self-expression, and growth. Its meaning varies from person to person, but it remains an essential part of everyone’s life.
A.We can personalize them with our favourite things.

Parents love us best in the world. As children, we should do something to show our love for them. Here are a few of my ways.
Make a card. You may think making a card is a little thing, and most of you may never try it. My parents keep all the cards from me. They say the cards are treasures to them. So why not make a card for your parents?
▲ My dad and mum are busy every day. They need to work and do housework. All these things make them tired, so I always keep my room clean and tidy. How about you? Do you often clean your room?
Make a meal. Parents are tired after a day’s work. Making dinner for them can give them a break. I am too young to do it by myself, so I ask my sister to help me cook.
Say sorry and thanks. If I do something wrong, I will say sorry to them. If I do that, they will know how I feel. After they do a thing for me, I always say thanks. From learning to cook our first meal to dealing with difficult times, our home environment plays an important role in our personal growth. It’s a place that nurtures (培养) us and helps us become the people we are today.
