Dear Past Ben,
Hi! I’m Ben, your future self! I know that you are really worried about your future career, so I wanted to write this letter to put your mind at rest.
In the future, unfortunately (or should I say “fortunately”?), while computers are incredibly smart and can do many things, they still lack creativity. They cannot write novels, paint interesting pictures, or come up with recipes for new and exciting kinds of dishes. And this is where you come in—in the future, you will be a chef working at a fancy restaurant.
Of course, it won’t be the kind of job like chefs have now. You will mix and cook virtual ingredients on a heads-up display while a robot does all the real work for you. Since the system remembers everything for you, if you are satisfied with the new dish you can immediately have the dish added to the restaurant menu so that the kitchen chefbots can cook it for customers.
All in all, you will be happy with your new job, because we both like to eat! So stop worrying. Your future will be great. Trust me!
Best regards,
Future Ben
