1.In this way, practising day in and day out helped Stephen sharpen his skills.
2.He performed beyond everyone's expectations with his accurate shooting and continuous efforts.
①If you're doing the same thing day_in_and_day_out,_where would the challenge be?
②The rain_has_been_continuous since this morning.
1.He probably didn't realise it at the time, but it was where he learnt to be creative and flexible as a player.
2.Inspiring others to believe in themselves, Stephen Curry is living proof that what other people think of you does not have to influence what you become.
①Home is where_you_can_find_love_and_care.
②There_is_no_doubt_that advanced technology will bring much convenience to people.
1.A far cry from the bright lights and shiny courts of the National Basketball Association (NBA), it was along this road that Stephen's grandfather built a simple basket by attaching a piece of plastic to a telephone pole.
2.Despite his father's successful career, Stephen was thought by many people, including his high school teammates and coaches, to be too short, too thin and too weak to follow in his father's footsteps.
3.That's how I got here. That's how I continue to get better every single day.
①It was a comfort _beyond_words,_beyond_company,_beyond time.
②Where_others_see_failure,_they see possibility. Where others see a closed door, they_see_an_open_window.
1.Near the small town of Grottoes, Virginia, a narrow dirt road goes from the house of Stephen Curry's grandfather to the woods nearby.
2.The bumps and rocks that lined the road under the basket caused the ball to bounce in all directions.

Climbing, I once thought, was a very manly activity, but as I found my way into this
①
activity, I came to see that something quite different happens on the rock.
Like wild swimming, rock climbing involves you into the landscape. On the rock, I am fully present. Eyes pay close attention, ears are alert, and hands move across the surface. Unlike walking, where I could happily wander about absent-mindedly, in climbing, attentive observation is essential.
As an arts student studying English literature, I discovered a new type of reading from outdoor climbing. Going out on to the crags (悬崖), I saw how you could learn to read the rocks and develop a vocabulary of physical movements. Good climbers knew how to map their bodies on to the stone. Watching them, I wanted to possess that skillful language.
My leap happened when I worked for the Cairngorms National Park Authority. Guiding my explorations into this strange new landscape was Nan Shepherd, a lady too. Unlike the goal-directed mindset of many mountaineers, she is not concerned with peaks or personal beats. Shepherd sees the mountain as a total environment and she celebrates the Cairngorms as a place alive with plants, rocks, animals and elements. Through her generous spirit and my own wanderings, I saw that rock climbing need not be a process of testing oneself against anything. Rather, the intensity of focus could release a person into another way of being.
Spending so much time in high and stony places has changed my view on the world and our place in it. I have come into physical contact with processes that go way beyond the everyday life. Working with gravity, geology, rhythms of weather and deep time, I gain an actual relationship with the earth. This connection lies at the heart of my passion for rock climbing. I return to the rocks, because this is .

A()
Women's basketball began in the winter of 1892 at Smith College. Senda Berenson, an instructor at Smith, taught basketball to her students, hoping the activity would improve their physical health. Basketball's early supporters were affiliated with YMCAs (The Young Men's Christian Association) and colleges throughout the United States, and the game quickly spread throughout the country.
However, Berenson was taking risks simply in teaching the game to women. She worried a little about the women suffering from “nervous fatigue” if games were too strenuous for them. And, in order to keep it “acceptable” for women to play at all, she taught modified rules. These included a court divided into three areas and nine players per team. Three players were assigned to each area (guard, center, forward) and could not cross the line into another area. The ball was moved from section to section by passing or dribbling. Players were limited to three dribbles and could hold the ball for three seconds. No snatching or batting the ball away from a player was allowed. A center jump was required after each score. Peach baskets and the soccer ball were the equipment. Variations of Berenson's rules spread across the country via YMCAs and colleges.
The first intercollegiate women's basketball game was played between teams from Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley, in 1896. The popularity of women's basketball grew steadily around the world for decades. By the 1970s the sport had attracted the notice of the International Olympic Committee, which added women's basketball as an official sport of the Olympic Games in 1976.
The Women's World Cup was created by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). It began in 1953, held in Chile, three years after the first men's World Championship. For most of its early history, it was not held in the same year as the men's championship. After the 1983 event, FIBA changed the scheduling so that the women's tournament would be held in even-numbered non-Olympic years, a change that had come to the men's tournament in 1970.
Only four nations have won titles in the history of the Women's World Cup. The United States has won the title nine times, including six of the last eight. The Soviet Union won six titles, including five in a row from 1959 to 1975. The only other countries to win have been Brazil in 1994 and Australia in 2006.

Playing sports outdoors has got extremely hot. Recently a report said heat could cause safety risks. These heat problems become worse because of the rising temperature and growing use of artificial turf. Though more durable, artificial turf can't absorb and keep water which finally leads to higher surface temperatures.
Researchers from the KWR Water Research Institute in the Netherlands create a self-cooling turf, whose temperature is close to that of natural grass. If widely used, it may reduce the risk of serious heat-related injuries and even help improve storm drainage (排水) in cities where rainwater isn't absorbed well by traditional artificial turf.
The researchers used grass' natural water absorption as inspiration and created their own turf with an open water storage layer. That water layer captures and stores rainwater. Tiny tubes made up of special materials are then used to transport the water back up to the surface where it evaporates (蒸发), which makes the turf surface cool.
Though other research previously cooled artificial turfs by sprinkling (喷洒) water, it only cools for a short time and may damage the turfs. The KWR researchers say this new method is better as it stores rainwater to cool the field when needed. In addition to the cooling effects, the water-absorbing field could also prevent urban flooding by absorbing rainwater.
Researchers say their new cooling system is easy to use, but it's not necessarily cheap. Installation costs twice as much as a traditional turf. And while the experiment focused on small 5×5 meter plots, fields in the real world could be larger. Still, those previous costs may only tell part of the story. This investment, however, allows the field to become part of the water management system and forms a cooler and safer field for the athletes.
