Lesson 3
I. Teaching Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
1. identify and understand the usage of indefinite pronouns (e.g., something, anything, nothing, someone, everyone, nowhere);
2. apply indefinite pronouns correctly in sentences and conversations;
3. discuss their holiday experiences using indefinite pronouns in pairs or groups.

Step 1: Warm-up

Step 2: Presentation
1.Students read the sentences in 3a. Think and answer the questions:
(1) What do the words in bold have in common?
(2) When do we use ‘some-’ vs. ‘any-’ pronouns?
2.Students can discuss the questions in pairs or groups and try to answer in Chinese.
3.Teacher explain more rules:
(1)Some-: Used in affirmative sentences (I met someone interesting).
(2)Any-: Used in questions/negatives (Did you eat anything special?).
(3)No-: Indicates negation (I did nothing special.).
(4)Every-: Refers to all (Everyone loved the food.).
Step 3: Practice

(1)Students complete the dialogue with indefinite pronouns.
(2)Check answers together (Key: anything, nothing, Everyone, anyone, something).

(1)Students fill in the passage (Key: everyone, no one, nothing, everything, something, someone).

(3)Read and answer:
a. Who did the writer go to the town with?
b. How was the weather when he got to the town?
c. What did he do there?
d. What did he see in the sky?
e. Did the writer have a great holiday?
Step 4: Production
Role-Play Activity:
In pairs, students create a dialogue about a holiday using at least 5 indefinite pronouns.
- Example:
- A: Did you go anywhere fun?
-B: Yes! I saw something amazing—a waterfall!
Volunteers perform dialogues for the class.

1. Writing Task: Write a short paragraph (5-6 sentences) about a real or imaginary trip using at least 6 indefinite pronouns.
