Unit 1 A new start Developing ideas listening & speaking) Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching materials [What] It is about problems and solutions of junior high school students. [Why] By studying it, students can find their own problems and ask for advice from classmates and teachers. They are also willing to join Students’ Union talk to help other students. [How] It contains four listening listen for the gist and specific information) and speaking activities. Ⅱ. Analysis of the target students Students will encounter all kinds of problems when they enter junior high. They don't have the ability to solve all problems. So after class, they should understand the main responsibility of the Students Union, and are brave to ask classmates and teachers for help. Ⅲ. Teaching objectives 1. Language competence: Through listening, students will understand the main idea of the listening materials and be able to use the target language to talk about problems and advice at junior high. 2. Cultural awareness: Students can have good qualities of self-confidence and self-improvement. 3. Thinking quality: Students can promote and analyze the development problems of the passage and summarize how to solve them. 4. Learning ability: Students will be willing to take part in the class activities and share their own ideas with others in public. Ⅳ. Key points and difficult points 1.
