Unit 3 同步练习卷-2025-2026学年英语九年级上册译林版 一、完形填空 A much-used home appliance (家用电器) suddenly stops working. You look at it helplessly: Should I repair it or replace it? It’s a 1 question that almost every family has faced. There are so many things to 2 , from the cost to the influence on the environment. But you may not have much time to make a 3 —just imagine living without a fridge in summer. In a recent study, more than 95% chose to 4 a broken appliance. Only 3% chose to replace the appliance. Which decision do you think is a 5 one? In my opinion, one great way of looking at the problem is to 6 the present value of your appliance. When you buy a new home appliance, write down its 7 and the number of years you expect to last. Divide the cost by the number of years. This will tell you how much 8 the appliance loses each year. When the appliance is 9 , you can quickly work out its present value. If a repair costs less than the appliance’s present value, you should repair the appliance. 10 you can consider replacing it. New research shows that kids do get new knowledge and learn new skills faster than grown-ups. It all comes down to something in the brain called GABA, which helps newly learned material stick in the brain. Researchers have found GABA levels increase rapidly in the brains of children of primary school age while they are learning new tasks or information. However, GABA levels in the brains of adults, aged 18 to 35, don’t change during or after lessons in new tasks and information. “Our results show that children of primary school age can learn more within a given period of time than adults,” said Takeo Watanabe, a professor (教授) at Brown University in the US. Dr Sebastian Frank, from the University of Regensburg in Germany, said their findings agreed with the common opinion that children outperformed adults in their learning abilities. “GABA plays a key role in making learning efficient (效率高的),” added Dr Frank. The researchers suggested teachers and parents should give children as many chances as possible to develop new skills, from learning the times table to riding a bike. Professor Watanabe said the findings could also be used to help adults learn more efficiently. “For example, a new technology or therapy (疗法) could be developed to increase the level of GABA in the brains of adults.” 21.Which shows the changes of children’s and adults’ GABA levels when they learn new things? A. B. C. D. 22.What does the underlined word “outperformed” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.were the same as B.did better than C.depended on D.looked up to 23.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.Parents should do everything for their kids. B.Children should learn to ride a bike as early as possible. C.Adults can learn more rapidly because of their wide experience. D.Children should be given more chances to learn new skills. In today’s society, many young people worry about how they look, which leads to feelings of anxiety (焦虑). In Japan, people are usually shyer and quieter than people in Western countries. This can make students less confident and stop them from showing who they are. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, masks became a daily part of life. Even after the pandemic, many Japanese students still wore masks because they felt nervous about showing their faces. In Sweden, many students worry about how they look, and social media (社交媒体) is a big reason. The pictures students see online often show people who look perfect, and this makes them feel like they need to look the same. This problem gets worse because of apps like Photoshop, which make people look even more perfect. Students compare themselves with these pictures and feel anxious. In Mexico, students feel nervous about their looks, too. Ana, a 14-year-old, has seen some classmates get anxious when they get pimples (青春痘) and others talk about makeup tips and share cosmetics (化妆品) in the restroom. These worries are common among teenagers as their bodies change and grow. She thinks things like social pressure from friends, bullying (霸凌), and seeing pop stars influence these feelings. She says that overcoming these worries helps teenagers better understand and accept themselves. She also encourages everyone to focus on what they’re good at and remember that it’s okay to look different because nobody is perfect. However, things get better in Singapore. Huang Luofei, a 13-year-old, noticed that not many people at her school worry about how they look. She believes this is because Singapore is a multicultural (多元文化的) country with many different ideas of beauty and style. People there care more about personality than appearance, and schools let students truly be themselves. Do students in your country worry about how they look? What makes them feel this way? What do you think about it? Anyway, it’s important for you to remember that everyone is different and everyone can be beautiful in their own way. 24.Why do many Japanese students still wear masks even after the COVID-19 pandemic? A.Because it’s a tradition in Japan. B.Because they feel nervous about showing their faces. C.Because masks are required by the school. D.Because they think masks protect them from getting sick again. 25.Who is the main reader of this passage? A.Teachers. B.Parents. C.Teenagers. D.Adults. 26.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage? A.Japanese students are more confident in appearance than Western ones. B.Students in Sweden feel anxious when they see perfect people on social media. C.Ana thinks social pressure from teachers and seeing pop stars influence her feelings. D.Huang Luofei believes that Singaporeans only care about personality. 27.Why does the writer write this article? A.To show students it’s OK to be different and like themselves. B.To advise young people to help friends become confident. C.To ask young people to stop caring about their looks. D.To tell people to use apps to make themselves look better. Everyone may feel angry at any time. It’s a common feeling. Some people cry when they feel angry and some may shout. Unluckily, many of us have been used to hiding anger, A study suggests that this can have long-term bad influences on our health. Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry? The study points out that when we show our anger in this way, we can't probably get on well with our friends or our family. The more time we keep being angry, the worse result we’ll get. So how can we deal with our feeling of anger in a right way? First, know what anger is. Anger is often caused by feelings of being too afraid, disappointment and so on. Also, care more about those everyday things that will make us angry. For example, we may get angry in a long line at the store. Take a step back and think that it isn’t personal. Everyone in the line has dinner to make, just like us. Then we’ll feel better. Another way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study has shown that if we name our feelings, we can slowly calm ourselves down. Besides, take a deep breath or find some helpful exercise to do. Exercise helps deal with anger. Remember that how we act when we are angry can make things better or worse. If we learn to deal with anger we will be happier and healthier. 28.How does the writer lead into the topic in Paragraph 2? A.By asking a question. B.By telling a story. C.By giving an example. D.By using an old saying. 29.Which picture can show the relationship between anger and time? (x = the time you keep angry, y = the bad influences it will have ) A.B.C. There are two main kinds of books—paper books and e-books for kids to choose from. The question becomes, is one better than another? The industry for selling e-books became a mainstream (主流) business in the late 1990s. E-books often have more colorful photos and sounds, and they may appear a lot more interesting than paper books. Research proves that e-books are good for kids. Kids learn more information when they are reading e-books because technology is fun and more enjoyable. Studies have shown that some kids may interact better when reading e-books. Some kids may have difficulties reading certain words. An e-book with lots of images and colors puts their imaginative spirit to the test. Good e-books help kids develop their reading skills faster. Highlighted text draws more attention, and the more time readers spend looking at words and hearing them out loud, the better chances (机会) they have to remember them. What’s more, e-books are lightweight and they can easily be read over and over again. However, e-books come with several problems, too. Many parents and even experts believe that e-books are not good for the general health of kids. Kids need to read their e-books on devices (设备) such as their mobile phones, computers or e-readers. Since kids already spend too much time using their computers or mobile phones, parents worry that reading e-books makes their kids spend too much time in front of screens. Kids are more drawn by the technology and they care less about the stories. If kids are getting all their answers from e-books, their interaction with other people is greatly decreased (减少). Discussing word meanings and characters encourages interaction and learning with others. 38.What does technology influence? 39.When did the industry for selling e-books become a mainstream business? 40.What devices do kids need to read their e-books? 41.What do you think of e-books? Why? (Please give two reasons) 五、短文填空 Improving Memory In many ways, our memories shape who we are. They make up our internal biographies (传记)—the stories we tell o 42 about what we’ve done with our lives. They tell us who we’re connected to, who we’ve touched during our lives, and who has touched us. In short, our memories are i 43 to the essence (本质) of who we are as human beings. That means age-related memory loss can represent (代表) a l 44 of self. It also affects the practical side of life, like getting around the neighborhood or remembering h 45 to contact a loved one. It’s not surprising, then, that people are concerned about decreasing thinking and memory skills as they age. What c 46 some people to lose their memory while others stay sharp? Genes play a r 47 , but so do choices. Ways to improve memory i 48 following a healthy diet, exercising regularly, not smoking, and keeping blood pressure and blood sugar in check. Living a m 49 active life is important, too. Just as muscles grow stronger with use, mental exercise helps keep mental skills and memory in tone. Are certain kinds of “brain work” more effective t 50 others? Any brain exercise is better than being a mental couch potato. Watching the latest marathon on the History Channel may not be enough. L 51 a new language, volunteering, and other activities that strain your brain are better. 六、单词拼写 52.Ms. Li taught us how (pronounce) the new words one by one in class. 53.For (who)did you buy the book? 54.The task is too difficult.
