教学重点
1.让学生系统学习比较事物数量的表达方式和“as...as”结构的用法。

1.区分“fewer”与“less”、“the fewest”与“the least”的用法,尤其是在修饰可数名词和不可数名词时的区别。
2.正确运用“as...as”和“not as...as”结构,注意形容词或副词的原级使用。
◇教学过程◇
Step 1 Leading in
1.Greet the class.
2.Show some pictures of two groups of objects.Ask students to describe the difference in the number of objects,using simple English words like “more” and “fewer”.
Step 2 Work on A
1.Present the table and sentences about the three schools’ class size,lunchtime and summer holiday from Part A on the screen.Let students read the sentences carefully and observe the usage of “fewer”“less”“more”“the fewest”“the least”“the most”.
2.Explain the rules of comparing the amount of things.
3.Work on A1
(1)Let students look at the table and complete Kitty’s text.
(2)After they finish,ask some students to read out their answers and explain their choices.
4.Work on A2
(1)Ask students to complete the last column in Part A1 with their own information.
(2)Let students write a short text to compare their school life with Nancy’s,Tomoya’s and Kitty’s,using the grammar above.Walk around to check their work and offer help.
Step 3 Work on B
1.Present the sentences with “as...as” and “not as...as” from Part B.Explain that “as...as” is used to say that people or things are the same in some way,and that “not as...as” (or “not so...as”) is used to say people or things are not the same.
2.Work on B1
(1)Let students complete Kitty’s text about comparing her school to her friend Laura’s school,using“as...as” or “not as...as”.
(2)Then ask some students to read out their completed texts.
3.Work on B2
(1)Ask students to compare their middle school with their primary school.Then write a short text,using the grammar above.
(2)Let them share their comparisons with their partners first,and then select some students to share with the class.
◇教学反思◇
本课时通过多种练习方式,学生对比较事物数量的表达方式和“as...as”结构的理解和运用有了一定的进步。但在区分“fewer”与“less”、“the fewest”与“the least”的用法时,部分学生仍容易出错,需要在后续教学中增加针对性练习,强化记忆。
