People always say the music from their younger years is the best compared to other times. This may be because of something that can be called the “memory bump”.
The memory bump means that our memories from ages 10 to 30 are very strong. This time heavily shapes our interests such as our favorite books, films, sports stars, and especially music. This is because there is a “safe” place in our brain to store the musical memories. It is well protected against aging problems. As a result, the music we listen to during these years usually has a lasting influence. We usually remember the music in our early years more fondly (充满感情地) than music from other times in our lives.
More importantly, “music is episodic (连载的),” Professor Robert Cutietta at the University of Southern California said. “If you look at an artwork or something, you can look at it and leave. Music is over time.”
Music from our younger years mixes happy and sad feelings when we listen to it. When the songs can be related (有关的) to your experience, memories of those experiences will come back as you listen to the songs again.
Sometimes, with a change in experience, the sadness you felt before when listening to a song can later turn into joy. This can explain why listening to something from a different time in your younger life can bring a feeling of relief (宽慰) now.

33. Which opinion might Professor Robert Cutietta agree with about music?
A. Music from our younger years is the best.
B. Listening to music can make us think of our old times.
C. We can forget music from childhood very quickly.
34. According to the last paragraph, which of the following is TRUE?
A. Our feelings about a song can change over time.
B. Music is related to past experiences.

35. What is the main idea of the text?

People always say the music from their younger years is the best compared to other times. This may be because of something that can be called the “memory bump”.
The memory bump means that our memories from ages 10 to 30 are very strong. This time heavily shapes our interests, such as our favorite books, films, sports stars, and especially music.

A. Our feelings about a song can change over time.
