(2)What do you know about this festival? Step 2 Work on 2a 1.Present some questions and have the students discuss in groups: (1)How does your family celebrate New Year? (2)Which one is your favorite? 2.Let the students create a mind map about New Year. Step 3 Work on 2b 1.T:Through discussions, we have known something about New Year Celebrations around the World. Present the new words and ask the students to read the passage quickly and guess their meanings.Teach the new words and ask the students to repeat, and then do some explanations. 2.Have the students listen to the passage carefully, then read the passage quickly and look for the key phrases and sentences as they read, and find out which countries' New Year celebrations are mentioned. 3.Correct the answers with the whole class. Step 4 Work on 2c 1.Let the students read the passage in 2b,and then complete the task in 2c. 2.Check the answers with the students.
