A
When 36-year-old Andy Duran decided to return to his favourite high school hobby—skateboarding—in January 2021,the only problem he expected to run into was his own ability to get back into the sport after the long break. However, the 340-pound skateboarder from Oakland, California, soon realised that was the least of his problems.
Duran's problems began before he even stepped on a skateboard. “I couldn't find any resources(资源) for fat skaters, what types of boards to try, or where to buy branded(名牌的) shirts in sizes 2XL or 3XL,” he says.
What Duran did find instead was an unfounded belief that fat people should not be skating. “I started to find people who were saying that if you're over 190 pounds you shouldn't be on a skateboard, or that the board won't support you,” he says.
Determined to do something to change that, Duran founded Chub Rollz—a skating and skateboarding community for overweight skaters. “If you feel like your size makes you feel uncomfortable about skating with others, you are welcome to skate with us,” Duran says.
Duran created a list of recommended(推荐的) products for fat skaters. He also held skating and skateboarding classes to teach beginners. He received a lot of messages from strangers expressing gratitude. “This means so much to me; I didn't think I could skate,” said one. “A person at the skate shop laughed at me, but this club makes me feel like I can still do it,” wrote another.
Though encouraged, Duran believes a lot more needs to be done to change the idea that fat bodies can't do and aren't interested in the activity. He thinks that is simply not true. “I want to see more changes in communities. Maybe skate shops have more training for creating a more welcoming environment for all types of skaters or boards to be made in different sizes,” he explains.
( B )1.What difficulty did Duran have when he decided to start skateboarding again?
A. He couldn't afford a branded skateboard.
B.He couldn't find proper products.
C.He realised the board couldn't support him.
D.He found it hard for him to step on a skateboard.
( D )2.What did Duran do for overweight skaters?
A.He wrote them encouraging messages.
B.He found them excellent teachers.
C.He raised money for them.
D.He started a club for them.
( B )3.What does the underlined word “gratitude” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?
A.Worries. B.Thanks.
C.Pride. D.Doubt.
( B )4.What wish does Duran express in the last paragraph?
A.More members will join Chub Rollz.
B.More support will be given to fat skaters.
C.Skate shops will provide more affordable boards.
D.There will be more communities like Chub Rollz.

根据最后一段中Duran说的话“I want to see more changes in communities. Maybe skate shops have more training for creating a more welcoming environment for all types of skaters or boards to be made in different sizes”可知,Duran希望在社区看到更多的改变,商店能有更多的培训来为不同类型的滑板者创造受欢迎的环境,同时不同的尺寸的滑板可以被制作。由此可推断出,Duran在最后一段表达了希望人们给胖滑板者更多的支持。故选B。

2024·衡阳一中高一检测The door opens and you are amazed at seeing people jumping and flying around like superheroes. Calm down! You are not in a Marvel film, just a trampoline(蹦床) park.
In recent years trampolining has become a new craze(时尚) among Chinese youths. Short videos are regularly uploaded to social media showing people's excitement about jumping back and forth on the colourful trampolines. Most videos feature teenagers. 1.__G__
Ms Shi, a 28-year-old from Beijing, goes to trampoline parks almost every weekend. She said, “When I was a child, I loved bouncing up and down on the trampolines, though they were just small and simple ones. They made me feel free and happy. 2.__A__”
It's true that today's trampoline parks are bigger, more professional and more creative. 3.__C__ You can obviously jump, play in the inflatables(充气垫), or shoot basketballs like an NBA superstar. Also, if you're brave enough, you can learn to walk on the wall.
“Trampolining is so much fun. It doesn't feel like exercising at all,” Ms Shi said.
4.__F__ According to Robert Smith, a British sports therapist, “The trampoline pad is bouncy and absorbs a large amount of the impact of your landing, so your bones and joints(关节)are protected and strengthened at the same time.”
Unlike playing soccer, basketball, tennis or any other competitive sports, the risk of injury while trampolining is relatively low. 5.__D__ “You must do warm-up exercises before playing. And you can't lose concentration during the movements,” Peter Cheng, a die-hard trampoline fan, who also owns a trampoline park, warned.
While outdoor activities are largely up to the weather, the indoor trampoline parks are really good places to go whenever you are seeking a fun cardio workout(有氧运动).
