B
I heard many parents complaining that their teenage children are rebelling(叛逆). I wish it were so. At your age you ought to be growing away from your parents. You should be learning to stand on your own feet. But take a good look at the present rebellion. It seems that teenagers are taking the same way of showing that they disagree with their parents. Instead of striking out on their own(开始独立的生活) boldly, most of them are clutching(紧握) at one another's hands for reassurance.
They claim they want to dress as they please. But they all wear the same clothes. They set off in new directions in music. But somehow they all end up listening to the same record together. Their reason for thinking or acting in thus-and-such a way is that many people are doing it. They have come out of their cocoon(茧) into a larger cocoon.
It has become harder and harder for a teenager to stand up against the popularity wave and go his or her own way. Industry has firmly carved out a teenage market. These days every teenager can learn from the advertisements what a teenager should have and be like.
And many of today's parents have come to award high marks for the popularity of their children. All this adds to a great barrier for the teenager who wants to find his or her own path.
But the barrier is worth climbing over. The path is worth following. You may want to listen to classical music instead of going to a party. You may want to collect rocks when everyone else is collecting records. You may have some thoughts that you don't care to share with your classmates at once; well, do it. Find yourself. Popularity will come with the people who respect you for who you are. That is the only kind of popularity that really counts.
( A )4.In this passage, the author wants to tell ________.
A.teenagers how to learn to decide things for themselves
B.readers how to be popular with people around
C.parents how to control and guide their children
D.people how to understand and respect each other
( C )5.Many teenagers think they are brave enough to act on their own, but actually most of them ________.
A.lack confidence
B.are much afraid of getting lost
C.dare not deal with problems single-handed
D.have difficulty understanding each other
( B )6.What does the author think of advertisements?
A.Convincing. B.Influential.
C.Advanced. D.Amazing.
( A )7.During the teenage years, what should one learn to do?
A.Find one's real self.
B.Differ from others in as many ways as possible.
C.Get into good habits and become popular.
D.Rebel against parents and the popularity wave.
通读全文,尤其根据第一段中的“I heard many parents complaining that their teenage children are rebelling(叛逆). I wish it were so. At your age you ought to be growing away from your parents. You should be learning to stand on your own feet.(我听到许多父母抱怨他们十几岁的孩子很叛逆。我希望是这样。在你这个年龄,你应该远离你的父母。你应该学会自立。)”可知,通过本文,作者想要告诉青少年如何学会自己做决定。故选A。
根据第一段最后两句“It seems that teenagers are taking the same way of showing that they disagree with their parents. Instead of striking out on their own(开始独立的生活) boldly , most of them are clutching(紧握) at one another's hands for reassurance.(青少年似乎也在用同样的方式来表示他们不同意父母的意见。他们中的大多数人都紧紧抓住彼此的手,以寻求安慰,而不是大胆地开始独立的生活。)”可知,大多数青少年确实表现出叛逆,但是却不敢独立行动,选项中的dare not deal with problems single-handed与 most of them are clutching at one another's hands for reassurance相对应。
根据第三段“It has become harder and harder for a teenager to stand up against the popularity wave and go his or her own way. Industry has firmly carved out a teenage market. These days every teenager can learn from the advertisements what a teenager should have and be like.(青少年越来越难以抵挡流行浪潮,走自己的路。行业已经牢牢地开拓出了青少年市场。如今,每个青少年都可以从广告中学习青少年应该拥有什么和青少年应该是什么样子的。)” 可推断,作者认为广告对青少年的影响很大。故选B。
7.A 细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“Find yourself. Popularity will come with the people who respect you for who you are. That is the only kind of popularity that really counts.(发现自我。当人们因为你是你而尊重你时,这时你才会受欢迎。这是唯一一种真正有价值的受欢迎。)” 可知,在青少年时期,一个人应该学会找到真正的自我。故选A。
Being a teenager can be difficult, since you're dealing with higher expectations, and the process of finding your place in the world. 1.__E__. If you want to have enjoyable teenage years, there are some things you can do.
Setting realistic expectations
Being a teenager is not necessarily any easier or more difficult than any other life stage. 2.__F__, this does not necessarily mean it will be the most difficult time of your life. If you are worried that this new life stage will be full of ever present drama, the truth is that this is just another stage of your life.
3.__A__
Develop your sense of self, focusing more on your own thoughts and goals. For lots of people, the teenage years are full of worries—stop paying so much attention to them! Many worries are based on what other people think, rather than what you think. Go ahead and do what you want to do, without considering the opinion of others.
Developing relationships
4.__C__. Some teens have trouble with social interaction (交往), with the reasons behind it different. Since social interaction is necessary in order to succeed, it's important to learn how to deal with shyness and social anxiety. Consider working with a friend or a family member of close age to develop your social skills. 5.__G__ .
Remember, not everyone enjoys their teens; that's just a fact of life. However, if you don't enjoy your teens, centre on being kind to others and getting through it.
A.Developing yourself
B.Considering others' ideas
C.Work to improve your social skills
D.You may have no time to make friends
E.But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the teen years
F.Although adolescence(青春期) is a time of great change
G.It may not replace new social exchanges, but it's a good practice

根据下文的“Develop your sense of self, focusing more on your own thoughts and goals.(培养你的自我意识,更多地关注你自己的想法和目标。)”、“Many worries are based on what other people think, rather than what you think.(很多担忧都是基于别人的想法,而不是你自己的想法。)”和“Go ahead and do what you want to do, without considering the opinion of others.(尽管去做你想做的事,不要考虑别人的意见。)” 故选A。
4.C 根据本段小标题“Developing relationships(发展关系)”可知,本段主要讲发展关系;再结合下文多次出现的social interaction和最后一句中的social skills可知,C选项“Work to improve your social skills(努力提高你的社交技能)”符合语境,social skills为关键信息。故选C。
5.G 根据上文“Consider working with a friend or a family member of close age to develop your social skills.(考虑和一个年龄相近的朋友或家人一起努力来发展你的社交技能。)”可知,G选项“It may not replace new social exchanges, but it's a good practice(它可能无法取代新的社会交流,但它是一个很好的实践)”符合语境,It指代上文所提到的working with a friend or a family member of close age。故选G。
