Dear Mike,
I’m overjoyed that you’ll visit China in the winter vacation. I’d like to offer some suggestions to make your trip memorable.
Before your trip, you can consider booking a package tour through a travel agency for convenience. If you plan an independent trip, you need to make proper arrangements for your travel, including transportation and accommodation. As to the destination, I highly recommend visiting Beijing or Xi’ an, where you can admire the magnificent architecture and long history.
I truly look forward to your arrival and believe you’ll be amazed by the charm of China.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 (满分25分)
We were scared and worried. We had no way of contacting anyone, and we had no idea how long the storm would last. We decided to wait it out and hoped for the best. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the rain stopped. The sun came out, and we could see the blue sky. We quickly packed up our things and started our way back. The road was slippery and muddy, but we made it back to our campsite safely.
That night, as we sat around the fire, we reflected on our adventure. We realized that we had been through a lot, but we had also learned a valuable lesson. We had learned to be prepared for anything and to always expect the unexpected. Our camping trip turned out to be an unforgettable adventure. We had hiked to see a magnificent waterfall, taken shelter in a cave during a thunderstorm, and made it back to our campsite safely. We had faced our fears, which made us stronger and wiser. It was an experience that we will never forget.

Corsica is famous for being Nepoleon’s birthplace, so we also went to the Maison Bonaparte. It was the home of the Bonaparte family. In fact, it was a museum when we visited it.
One day we took the local train to another beautiful place named Corte which belongs to Corsica. We visited the citadel (城堡) and the museum where we learnt more about Corsican history and enjoyed the beautiful views of the city.
The food in Corsica was fantastic and we often visited the market to taste something delicious. We also went to some local restaurant for dinner and ate fresh seafood. At the end of the trip, we were very sad to leave and I hope to return to Corsica again some day.

Travelling abroad costs a lot, not only money but also time and energy. But the personal benefits of travelling to a foreign country are beyond imagination. Escaping the familiar home and stepping out of your usual routine fosters mental and physical well-being.
First, travelling sharpens your mind. A new environment forces you to accept a brand-new life where you’ll be required to explore unfamiliar places, read foreign languages, try new things, make quick decisions, and choose your new eating and sleeping schedule. All these will require mental processing. Once you return home, you’ll be sharper than ever.
In addition, travelling can give you chances to exercise. Compared with going sweat in the gym, exploring new cities on foot, hiking, and walking between places can offer much more various and enjoyable ways to exercise. That means you’ll be much more active from day to day while on the road, regardless of whether your trip is an adventurous one or simply a relaxing beach trip.
Nobody comes back from a journey the way they started it. For example, returning from Pakistan, a country in south Asia where people struggle to survive for lack of food or suffer from infectious diseases, you may feel more blessed and content. That’s another change travelling will bring to you: a shift in perspective.
Therefore, the long-lasting personal benefits of visiting a foreign country far outweigh the costs and time.
8.Which of the following is Not True according to the passage?
A.Travelling abroad costs energy, money and time.
B.You’ll be much more active when you are travelling.
C.Nobody comes back from a journey without a change.
D.Exploring new places on foot offers fewer ways to exercise.
9.According to the passage, what will happen if one travels to new places?
A.He will accept the new environment easily.
B.He is likely to struggle with money and time.
C.He will have to organize different daily routines.
D.He may find road trips more relaxing than beach trips.
10.Why is Pakistan mentioned in paragraph 4?
A.To show travelling brings health problems.
B.To show travelling allows you to meet new people.
C.To show travelling can change a person’s thoughts on life.
D.To show travelling gives you a chance to read foreign languages.
11.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Traveling abroad makes people smarter.
B.Travelling abroad is beneficial for both mind and body.
C.The advantages and disadvantages of travelling abroad.
D.The tips to save costs and time on visiting a foreign country.

Escaping the familiar home and stepping out of your usual routine fosters mental and physical well-being.(出国旅游花费很多,不仅是钱,还有时间和精力。

At last, the most popular garden prize went to the Octavia Hill garden.
A junior judge shared, “I like the Octavia Hill garden best, because its woodland holds more plants than others and the planting has attracted a lot of wildlife. It is more fun to explore and play in.”
Helena Pettit, the director of the RHS, stressed the importance of this show, stating, “The show was uniquely designed to prove how important it is for children to have access (通道) to nature. Group tours offer convenience for international travel. 16 Here are a few key points to consider.
Budget realistically. 17 Beyond the base price, take into account the potential extra costs like lunches, dinners, entrance fees for specific attractions, and optional activities. Ensure your budget covers these expenses.
Know the geography. Avoid underestimating travel times between destinations. Tight schedules on back-to-back tours can be stressful. 18 If distances or transit (中转) times aren’t listed, use tools like Google Maps to get an idea of how much time you’ll spend traveling during each leg of the tour.
Arrive early, depart late. Don’t risk arriving at your starting destination on the same day the tour departs. Flight delays or missed connections could cause you to miss the first day or two of your paid tour. 19 Similarly, adding a little extra free time at the end provides a buffer (缓冲) for unexpected delays on your return journey.
Carry local cash. Although major expenses are usually pre-paid, always be prepared for incidental costs. Especially in remote areas or when dealing with small vendors, markets, or transportation, card payments may not be accepted. 20
A.Aim to arrive at least one day early.
B.Group tours are typically not all-inclusive.
C.The last thing you want is to miss a flight.
D.You’d better carefully review the travel plan.
E.Running into issues on a tour may ruin your vacation.
F.Keep local currency on hand at all times for these situations.
G.However, careful planning is essential to avoid potential troubles.
【答案】16.G 17.B 18.D 19.A 20.F
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了参加国际跟团游时的五大注意事项。
16.前文“Group tours offer convenience for international travel. (跟团游为国际旅行提供了便利)”肯定跟团游的便利,后文“Here are a few key points to consider. (以下是需要注意的几个要点)”提醒要注意要点,此处需要过渡句,因此G项“However, careful planning is essential to avoid potential troubles. (然而,精心的规划对于避免潜在问题至关重要)”符合语境,指出精心的规划的必要性,和前文构成转折,引出后文的注意。故选G。
17.本段主旨句是“Budget realistically. (合理预算)”,后文“Beyond the base price, take into account the potential extra costs like lunches, dinners, entrance fees for specific attractions, and optional activities. (除基础费用外,还需考虑午餐、晚餐、特定景点门票和自费项目等额外开支)”提醒考虑基本价格之外的费用,此处需要解释为什么需要考虑这些费用,因此B项“Group tours are typically not all-inclusive. (跟团游通常不是全包的)”符合语境,呼应主旨句,引出后文。故选B。
18.前文“Avoid underestimating travel times between destinations. Tight schedules on back-to-back tours can be stressful. (若行程中未标明具体距离或交通时间,建议使用谷歌地图等工具预估每段旅程的耗时情况)”就没列出距离或时间的情况给出具体建议,此处应是建议查看旅行行程,因此D项“You’d better carefully review the travel plan. (你最好仔细查看旅行计划)”符合语境,承前启后。故选D。
19.前文“Don’t risk arriving at your starting destination on the same day the tour departs. Flight delays or missed connections could cause you to miss the first day or two of your paid tour. (切勿在团队出发当日才抵达始发地。航班延误或转机失误可能导致你错过已付费行程的前一至两天)”提醒避免当天到达,解释有错过行程的风险,后文“Similarly, adding a little extra free time at the end provides a buffer (缓冲) for unexpected delays on your return journey. (同样地,在行程结束时预留一些额外的空闲时间,可以为返程途中可能出现的意外延误提供缓冲)”指出返程也留时间,此处需要建议提前到达,因此A项“Aim to arrive at least one day early. (争取至少提前一天到达)”符合语境,承前启后。故选A。
20.前文“Especially in remote areas or when dealing with small vendors, markets, or transportation, card payments may not be accepted. (特别是在偏远地区,或与小商贩、市场及当地交通工具打交道时,可能会遇到无法使用银行卡支付的情况)”提到无法使用银行卡支付的各种情况,此处需建议随身准备当地货币,因此F项“Keep local currency on hand at all times for these situations. (随时准备当地货币应对这些情况)”符合语境,承接前文。故选F。

Last summer, my friends and I went on a camping trip in the mountains. We were all excited about the adventure ahead, but little did we know what was in store for us.
We arrived at the campsite in the late afternoon. The sun was setting, and the sky was painted with hues of orange and pink. We set up our tents and started a fire to cook our dinner. As we sat around the fire, we planned our activities for the next day. We decided to go on a hike to see the nearby waterfall.
The next morning, we woke up early and set out on our hike. The trail was steep and narrow, but the scenery was breathtaking. We passed through the forests and crossed the streams. As we got higher, the air became colder and thinner. We had to stop frequently to catch our breath.
After a few hours of hiking, we finally reached the waterfall. It was amazing. The water fell down from a great height, and the mist created a rainbow. We sat down to catch our breath and take in the beauty of the waterfall.
But our adventure was far from over. As we were about to leave, we noticed dark clouds gathering overhead. It started raining heavily, and we realized that we had not brought any rain gear. We were completely soaked(湿透)and trembling in the cold. We decided to take shelter in a nearby cave until the rain stopped.
The cave was dark and damp, but it gave us a brief relief from the rain. We sat there for what seemed like hours, waiting for the rain to stop. But it only got worse. The thunder was so loud that it echoed through the cave, and the lightning was so bright that it lit up the cave like daylight.

【答案】One possible version:

This year’s Chelsea Flower Show, held from May 21 to 25, featured (以……为特色) a garden that was designed by children, for children. The famous show was run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), a gardening charity in Chelsea, London. It is a chance for garden designers to show their skills and win prizes for their creations.
Children played an important role in this year’s show. The “no adults allowed” garden was designed by primary school children. And it featured a woodland that invited exploration, a grassland with grass and wildflowers and a wetland area with bog plants. It also featured a play area that included a natural cave leading into a pool of water, providing a slide for children to enjoy. The show was a sensation, drawing in many families and community members, who were excited to see the creative designs. The young designers confidently presented their ideas to the visitors, sharing what they learned throughout the creative process.
For the first time this year, children also took on the role of judges (裁判), giving prizes for the garden they would most like to play in. Judges from primary school evaluated each garden based on whether a garden was a good place to play, whether it was attractive to wildlife, and how the garden made them feel.
We’re delighted that we have children designers taking centre stage, who want to encourage other children around the world to become gardeners, to help save the planet and have fun.”

When we got there, I got a surprise because of the weather. It was already October! But we just needed to wear T-shirts and shorts. We went to the beach to enjoy the sunshine and some of my friends even went swimming in the sea. The Corsican scenery (风景) was so beautiful. We had a picnic, went for a long walk along the coast and took lots of pictures.

A.Travelling abroad costs energy, money and time.
B.You’ll be much more active when you are travelling.

B.Travelling abroad is beneficial for both mind and body.
C.The advantages and disadvantages of travelling abroad.
D.The tips to save costs and time on visiting a foreign country.

We’re delighted that we have children designers taking centre stage, who want to encourage other children around the world to become gardeners, to help save the planet and have fun.”

C.It featured design skills. D.It was organized by primary schools.

B.The brief introduction to the show.
C.The excitement of community members.
D.The reasons for children’s participation in the show.
14.How did the little judges choose the best garden?
A.By its modern design. B.By the unique skills of designers.
C.By the beauty of the garden. D.By its attraction to children and wildlife.
15.What should children do according to Helena Pettit?
A.Take responsibility for their own lives. B.Take part in more relaxing events.
C.Increase their connection with nature. D.Enrich their environmental knowledge.
