She finds joy in volunteering, believing it benefits both recipients (接受者) and herself. Motivated by this, she now creates opportunities for others to contribute easily. Tina started a Facebook Messenger group, uniting 40 local women with the goal of helping those in need. When she identifies a cause — such as collecting Foodbank supplies, items for homeless shelters, or essentials for Women’s Refuge — she messages the group. Her home becomes a central collection point, making it easier for participants to contribute. “It’s about saying, ‘Here’s a chance to help — join if you can.’ People respond amazingly,” Tina explains. The approach removes barriers to giving, enabling others to contribute effortlessly without organizing efforts themselves. Tina admits that while her method is irregular, it suits her current schedule and lifts her spirits. “I don’t commit to ongoing volunteer roles yet, but short-term actions work well. As someone who enjoys communication, bringing people together feels natural,” she says. When her children were younger, school-linked projects kept her involved. After they grew up, Tina sought new ways to make a difference. Her flexible model has proven successful, promoting teamwork and positivity. “Together, we’re improving lives in small but meaningful ways — spreading kindness and building connections. It’s rewarding, especially during tough times,” she adds. Tina highlights that volunteering doesn’t have to involve strict schedules or long hours, a key reason, why her approach appeals to many. By simplifying generosity, she empowers busy individuals to participate in small, manageable acts of goodwill, creating collective impact while strengthening community bonds. 4. What inspired Tina to create opportunities for others to volunteer? A. Her experience as a designer. B. Her fondness for communication. C. Encouragement from community leaders. D. Happiness and benefits from volunteering. 5. How does Tina’s Facebook Messenger group work? A. Tina organizes big events for members to join. B. Tina shares requests and uses her home as a drop-off point. C. Members must attend the weekly planning meeting. D. Members are required to meet a donation minimum. 6. Why does Tina’s volunteering approach appeal to so many people? A. It guarantees public recognition. B. It focuses on fundraising for schools. C. It demands strict schedules and long hours. D. It simplifies generosity through manageable acts. 7. What lesson can be learned from Tina’s experience? A. Not all that shines is gold. B. Rome wasn’t built in a day. C. Many hands make light work. D. The early bird catches the worm. D 5. B 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“She finds joy in volunteering, believing it benefits both recipients and herself. Motivated by this, she now creates opportunities for others to contribute easily.(她从志愿服务中找到乐趣,认为这对受助者和她自己都有益处。受此激励,她如今正为其他人创造轻松参与公益的机会)”可知,志愿服务带来的快乐和益处激励蒂娜为他人创造志愿机会。故选D。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Tina started a Facebook Messenger group, uniting 40 local women with the goal of helping those in need. When she identifies a cause — such as collecting Foodbank supplies, items for homeless shelters, or essentials for Women’s Refuge — she messages the group. Her home becomes a central collection point, making it easier for participants to contribute.(蒂娜成立了一个Facebook Messenger群,将40名当地女性团结起来,目标是帮助有需要的人。当她确定一个事业时——比如收集食品银行的物资、无家可归者收容所的物品或妇女避难所的必需品——她就会给这个群发信息。她的家成为一个集中收集点,方便参与者捐款)”可知,蒂娜的Facebook群组通过分享需求信息,并利用她的家作为物资收集点来运作。故选B。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Tina highlights that volunteering doesn’t have to involve strict schedules or long hours, a key reason, why her approach appeals to many. By simplifying generosity, she empowers busy individuals to participate in small, manageable acts of goodwill, creating collective impact while strengthening community bonds.(蒂娜强调,志愿服务不一定需要严格遵循固定日程,也不必投入大量时间,这正是她的做法吸引很多人的关键原因。 C。 C In 1995, Uyinga left her home on the grassland to study at the Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics in the regional capital, Hohhot. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in land resource management, she immediately decided to return home as she believed the vast grassland has more opportunities to offer than big cities. “I was born on the grassland, and I have a free spirit. And the infrastructure such as roads and telecommunication on the grassland has been significantly improved, so it can be just as convenient to start businesses at my home,” Uyinga said. Following the recommendation of a career adviser on e-commerce, she started to post videos about the life of herdsmen(牧民)on social media in January 2018. “There wasn’t any influencer posting about the life of herdsmen in Inner Mongolia back then. And my first goal was to clear up people’s misunderstandings about herdsmen,” she said. Like many people from the region, Uyinga is often asked if locals ride horses to school and work. “Many people aren’t familiar with life and culture on the grassland. In fact, the herdsmen’s life on the grassland has also been improved and modernized. At the same time, we have kept our traditions alive,” she said. Besides enjoying the stunning sunrises and sunsets in the short videos posted by Uyinga, people are particularly interested in how her family prepares traditional Mongolian food, such as dairy products, milk tea and boiled meat. One of Uyinga’s videos that went viral features her family storing meat for a harsh winter ahead. It has received more than 9 million views on social media platforms. “I’ve never imagined people can be so interested in our normal routines. It has made me more determined to promote our rich culture and heritage,” Uyinga said. She now has more than 1.18 million followers on the short video platform Douyin, but she said she doesn’t like to be called an influencer. “I am simply a recorder of the grassland and the lifestyle of the herdsmen,” she said. 8. What made Uyinga come back to her hometown after graduation? A. Her major in the university. B. Her belief in the grassland. C. Attachment to her hometown. D. Pressure in the big city. 9. What were Uyinga’s first videos aimed at? A. Showing off her lifestyle. B. Attracting tourists to Inner Mongolia. C. Promoting traditional Mongolian food. D. Clarifying misconceptions of the herdsman’s life. 10. What is known about the herdsmen in Inner Mongolia? A. They homemake meat products for winter. B. They face many challenges in the grassland. C. They have totally abandoned their traditions. D. They enjoy making videos about their life. 11. What is a best title for the passage? A. Mongolia, home to herdsmen. B. Herdsman, a new lifestyle. C. Grassland, home of Uyinga. D. Uyinga, a grassland recorder. B 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段“After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in land resource management, she immediately decided to return home as she believed the vast grassland has more opportunities to offer than big cities.(在获得土地资源管理学士学位后,她立刻决定回家,因为她相信广阔的草原比大城市能提供更多机会)” 可知,是她对草原的信念,即认为草原机会更多,促使 Uyinga 毕业后回到家乡。 根据第三段“There wasn’t any influencer posting about the life of herdsmen in Inner Mongolia back then. And my first goal was to clear up people’s misunderstandings about herdsmen,” she said.(她说:“那时没有网红发布关于内蒙古牧民生活的内容。我的首要目标是消除人们对牧民的误解”)” 可知,Uyinga 最初发布视频的目的是消除人们对牧民生活的误解。选D。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段 “One of Uyinga’s videos that went viral features her family storing meat for a harsh winter ahead.(Uyinga 的一个走红视频展示了她的家人为即将到来的严冬储存肉类)” 可以推断,内蒙古的牧民会为过冬自制肉制品。故选A。 根据最后一段““I am simply a recorder of the grassland and the lifestyle of the herdsmen,” she said.(“我只是草原和牧民生活方式的记录者”她说。)” D。 D “Assume you are wrong.” The advice came from Brian Nosek, a psychology professor, who was offering a strategy for pursuing better science. To understand the context for Nosek’s advice, we need to take a step back to the nature of science itself. You see despite what many of us learned in elementary school, there is no single scientific method. Just as scientific theories become elaborated and change, so do scientific methods. But methodological reform hasn’t come without some fretting and friction. Nasty things have been said by and about methodological reformers. Few people like having the value of their life’s work called into question. On the other side, few people are good at voicing criticisms in kind and constructive ways. So, part of the challenge is figuring out how to bake critical self-reflection into the culture of science itself, so it unfolds as a welcome and integrated part of the process, and not an embarrassing sideshow. What Nosek recommended was a strategy for changing the way we offer and respond to critique. Assuming you are right might be a motivating force sustaining the enormous effort that conducting scientific work requires. But it also makes it easy to interpret criticisms as personal attacks. Beginning, instead, from the assumption you are wrong, a criticism is easier to interpret as a constructive suggestion for how to be less wrong - a goal that your critic presumably shares. One worry about this approach is that it could be demoralizing for scientists. Striving to be less wrong might be a less effective motivation than the promise of being right. Another concern is that a strategy that works well within science could backfire when it comes to communicating science with the public. Without an appreciation for how science works, it’s easy to take uncertainty or disagreements as marks against science, when in fact they reflect some of the very features of science that make it our best approach to reaching reliable conclusions about the world. Science is reliable because it responds to evidence: as the quantity and quality of our evidence improves, our theories can and should change, too. Despite these worries, I like Nosek’s suggestion because it builds in cognitive humility along with a sense that we can do better. It also builds in a sense of community - we’re all in the same boat when it comes to falling short of getting things right. Unfortunately, this still leaves us with an untested hypothesis: that assuming one is wrong can change community norms for the better, and ultimately support better science and even, perhaps, better decisions in life. I don’t know if that’s true. In fact, I should probably assume that it’s wrong. But with the benefit of the scientific community and our best methodological tools, I hope we can get it less wrong, together. 12. According to Paragraph 1, what is the core message of Brian Nosek’s advice? A. Scientists should always be confident in their methods. B. The scientific method is unchanging and universal. C. There is a need for a more self-reflective approach in the scientific community. D. Methodological reformers are often criticized unfairly. 13. In the context of the article, what does the term “methodological reformers” most likely refer to? A. People who are against scientific reforms. B. Scientists who advocate for changes in scientific methods. C. Individuals who are resistant to change in their scientific work. D. Critics who question the value of scientific methods. 14. What is a potential benefit of adopting the “assume you are wrong” strategy according to the author? A. It can reduce personal attacks in scientific debates. B. It may lead to a decrease in the motivation of scientists. C. It will make scientific conclusions more reliable. D. It can improve the public’s understanding of science. 15. Considering the “assume you are wrong” strategy, which of the following applications in non-scientific fields is most likely to align with the principles discussed in the article? A. Encouraging business leaders to always trust their initial instincts in making decisions. B. Training politicians to be more defensive about their policies to avoid admitting faults. C. Promoting a culture in educational institutions where teachers and students actively seek feedback to improve learning outcomes. D. Advising journalists to stick to their narratives regardless of opposing views to maintain consistency. C 13. B 14. A 15. 由文章第一段““Assume you are wrong.” The advice came from Brian Nosek, a psychology professor, who was offering a strategy for pursuing better science. 根据文章第三段“Nasty things have been said by and about methodological reformers. A. People who are against scientific reforms反对科学改革的人;B. Scientists who advocate for changes in scientific methods提倡改变科学方法的科学家;C. Individuals who are resistant to change in their scientific work在科学工作中抵制变革的个人;D. Critics who question the value of scientific methods质疑科学方法价值的批评者。 根据文章第四段中“Beginning, instead, from the assumption you are wrong, a criticism is easier to interpret as a constructive suggestion for how to be less wrong - a goal that your critic presumably shares. 故选A。 由文章最后一段中“But with the benefit of the scientific community and our best methodological tools, I hope we can get it less wrong, together. C。 E In a world that’s awake 24/7, a lot of us have pretty messed up sleeping schedules. Some think we can fight the drought by praying for rain by means of the Internet——using the modern tool to do the primitive thing, which I think is in vain. Faced with the terrible drought, we should take effective measures to settle the issue. Firstly, we must protect trees. Trees play an important part in water and soil conservation. People are suffering from the drought because plenty of trees have been cut down without limits. If we continue to do so, we will be punished by nature. Secondly, we should try to save water. Water is a necessity in our daily life. Besides, water resources are limited, so we shouldn't waste it. If we don’t kick the bad habit of wasting water, we will surely suffer more in the future. It's never too late to mend. After the disaster, we should realize protecting nature means protecting ourselves. Only in this way can we live a better life in the future. Kelly didn’t really know why or how it had started, but a mean rumor (谣言) had been spreading throughout the school. Kids whispered it when she walked down the halls, others laughed and pointed fingers and some had started writing notes in the classroom. The rumor was that, “Kelly only gets good grades because she cheats in the exams.” But that was, 100 percent, not true. Kelly studied hard, really hard. She spent a lot of time after school studying. She cared about her studies. She even missed friends’ birthday parties to study. She always answered questions in class, always finished her homework on time, and never missed any classes. Sometimes, she was really tired from trying so hard. And in life, she always tried to be nice to everyone, and now this? Why? In science class, the students were put into teams to carry out an experiment. Kelly was put with Sophie. She wasn’t happy about this as Sophie had been mean to her since Kelly missed her birthday party to study a few weeks ago. In fact, Kelly thought that maybe Sophie was the one who had started the rumors in the first place. But she knew the science experiment was important so she thought it was best just to get on with it. They worked on in silence until Sophie said, “Are you going to find a way to cheat on this too?” “I don’t cheat,” replied Kelly, upset. “Sure you don’t. You just want to be the best, right? That’s all you care about.” “I care about lots of things!” Kelly said. “You don’t care about anyone,” said Sophie. All you care about is being the best. That’s why you cheat!” She couldn’t believe that Sophie was being so unfair. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ They continued working on the experiment, and slowly, a sense of cooperation began to develop. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Possible version 1: She couldn’t believe that Sophie was being so unfair. Kelly froze with shock, as if rooted to the ground. She bit her lower lip to keep it from trembling as tears ran down her cheeks. In a low voice, she said, “I have never cheated, Sophie. Are you mad at me for my missing your birthday party? If yes, I sincerely apologize. But ...” Kelly paused, reaching into her pocket and pulling out an exquisite birthday card. “I was planning to give it to you after class.” A wave of guilt swept over Sophie as she realized her mistake. “I’m sorry for what I said. Now, shall we get on with the experiment?” she said. Kelly stopped sobbing and nodded. They continued working on the experiment, and slowly, a sense of cooperation began to develop. Sophie seemed to always know what Kelly needed, even without Kelly saying anything. With their combined efforts, the experiment was a breeze and they did a great job. The science teacher praised them, and their eyes twinkled with pleasure. After that, Kelly no longer heard the mean rumors about her when she walked down the halls. Additionally, her friendship with Sophie was stronger than before. Conflicts and misunderstandings in friendships are unavoidable. What truly matters is showing our friends that we really care about them. Possible version 2: She couldn’t believe that Sophie was being so unfair. A wave of grievance welled up in her heart. Under no circumstances had she expected her friend Sophie to say such hurtful words. Tears filled her eyes. She bit her lip, lowered her head and said, “I owe you an apology for overlooking your birthday party invitation because of my own reasons. I have never cheated and I hope you know that.” Seeing Kelly crying and hearing her apology, Sophie was lost in thought for a while and didn’t say a word. Given that the experiment was important to them, they agreed to temporarily set their past conflicts aside and focus on the task at hand. They continued working on the experiment, and slowly, a sense of cooperation began to develop. The previously silent and unbearable atmosphere faded away, replaced by harmonious and friendly communication. They shared their ideas and corrected each other’s errors. Before long, they completed the experiment smoothly through their joint efforts. The ice in their hearts slowly melted away. After school, they walked home together. The setting sun cast a warm glow over the world, witnessing the flower of friendship blooming once more. To maintain a friendship, it’s important to care for one another, cherish each other’s presence, and show a willingness to nurture the bond. 感到生气:be mad at/be angry with ②意识到:realize/be aware of ③重要:matter/count ④展示:show/display 情绪类 ①哭泣:sob/weep ②抱歉的:sorry/regretful 【点睛】[高分句型1] Sophie seemed to always know what Kelly needed, even without Kelly saying anything.(运用了现what引导宾语从句,动名词的复合结构作宾语) [高分句型2] What truly matters is showing our friends that we really care about them.(运用了what引导主语从句,that引导宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 驻马店市第一高级中学2025级新生入学考试 高一英语试题 本试卷满分150分,考试时间140分钟 2025年7月21日 注意事项: 1. 1. B For four years, Tina Jones, a New Zealand interior-design business owner, has inspired others to join her in supporting community causes. When her children were younger school-linked projects kept her involved. B Her fondness for communication. C In 1995, Uyinga left her home on the grassland to study at the Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics in the regional capital, Hohhot. D “Assume you are wrong.” The advice came from Brian Nosek, a psychology professor, who was offering a strategy for pursuing better science. Assuming you are right might be a motivating force, sustaining the enormous effort that conducting scientific work requires. E In a world that’s awake 24/7, a lot of us have pretty messed up sleeping schedules. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
