Each of us has dreams and goals for our future. What makes us study and make progress each day is closely connected with our personal dream and goal.
But why do you still end up with nothing even though you have dreams and goals? What separates successful people from the dreamers is their persistent(锲而不舍的) action. When you learn your lessons in school, you must work hard and not give up. You will often find some of your lessons very hard. Try and keep trying, and you'll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with. If we have a hard lesson today, let us try our best to learn it well and then we shall be prepared for a harder one tomorrow.
This is the famous formula(公式) for success:
Dream > Believe > Achieve
Most people have what they want(Dream) and think they can realise their dreams(Believe). And then they do nothing. They just imagine their dreams can come true. When they get tired of waiting and lose a lot, they get bored. They say angrily how terrible their life is.
I personally believe that if you really want to achieve your dreams and goals in life, you have to add one thing to your success formula:
Dream > Believe > Act > Achieve
For me, act is the most important thing for success and that's to take persistent action (Act). If you say “I can't do it” and give up, you can never do anything valuable. However, “I'll try” creates wonders. Let's remember that there will be obstacles in our life. We must face them bravely and solve them. Success is not something that falls down from the sky. Most successful people make their dreams come true because of their persistent action.
Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.
( B )19.What should you do when you find your lessons very hard?
A.Ask people for help.
B.Try and keep trying.
C.Get ready to create wonders.
D.Prepare for a harder one.
( D )20.What does the underlined word “obstacles” mean?
A.Dangers. B.Imaginations.
C.Wonders. D.Difficulties.
( A )21.Why does the writer use the formula “Dream>Believe > Act > Achieve”?
A.To support his idea.
B.To ask readers to explain it.
C.To show what his goals are.
D.To compare it with a bridge.
( C )22.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A.Doing Something Valuable
B.Studying Hard and Making Progress
C.Realising Dreams with Persistent Action
D.Separating Successful People from Dreamers

These days, teenagers are heavily influenced by the media. Many of them have watched thousands of hours of TV. That's more time than they spend with teachers at school. And we haven't yet considered the hours they spend using the Internet and reading newspapers.
However, several studies have shown a serious problem: today's teenagers lack(缺乏) media literacy(媒体素养). In other words, they have difficulty critically thinking about the information they see. One study that was done on middle school students showed that more than 80 percent of them couldn't tell the difference between real stories and ads that looked like news.
Standford professor Kevin John teaches a class called Media Effects. He tries to help his students learn media literacy. The professor gives an example that shows why media literacy is important. In the example, two news stations report a snowstorm. One focuses on (关注) the terrible road conditions. The other focuses on kids playing in the snow. “With a news story, news stations tell you what they feel are the important details (细节). These details mostly depend on the opinions of the news director,” said John. “A person who has media literacy would realise that each story is about one side at this time. There is more going on.”
Some experts think school is the best place to teach media literacy. Others believe everyone—from parents to reporters—should help teenagers learn the skills.
As for the best time to start learning media literacy, many experts suggest the age of 12.But some basic ideas can be taught even earlier. “It's never too early to start learning media literacy,” John said.
( B )23.From the first paragraph, we can learn that teenagers today spend more time ________.
A.using the Internet than watching TV
B.watching TV than studying at school

D.playing games than doing homework

A.should have the same opinions as others
B.could think about its good and bad sides
C.must know about all the important details
D.may be good at communicating with others
( B )25.Professor Kevin John would agree that ________.
A.everyone is supposed to help children learn different skills
B.children should be taught media literacy as early as possible
C.news directors should report the news children are interested in
D.home is the best place to teach children about media literacy
( C )26.The main idea of the passage is ________.
A.how to develop teenagers' media literacy
B.where teenagers should be taught media literacy
C.why teenagers are supposed to have media literacy
D.when is the best time to teach media literacy at school

Artificial intelligence(人工智能), or AI in short, is the science of giving computers and machines ability to think and work like humans. AI scientists and engineers have made a lot of cool technologies.
AI is rapidly catching up with the human ability to read faces. As a result, facial recognition(识别) is used a lot in the world. Chinese police use this technology to identify criminals(罪犯). Once they caught a criminal when he attended a concert. It also checks the ID of ride-hailing(网约车) drivers and lets people pay for things with a smile.
AI is also used in self-driving cars, which are believed to be the future of driving. Most drivers may wave or nod at passers-by to let them cross the street, but self-driving cars don't have this ability. Carmakers are testing a light signal system to help them “speak” to humans. The system can show what self-driving cars will do. For example, if a driverless car is yielding(让路), it will flash two white lights side to side. A rapidly flashing light tells passers-by that the car is about to speed up.
Service Robots also show you how powerful AI is. Imagine this—you come back home from school and your robot housekeeper is waiting for you at the door. After dinner, he teaches you to play the piano, just like a real music teacher. Such thoughts will soon happen in the real world. In the future, more and more service robots will become good home helpers.
AI is so powerful that it can help human beings and even replace us in many jobs.
( B )27.What does the underlined word “identify” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.To let somebody know his mistakes.
B.To recognise sb./sth. and be able to say who or what they are.

A.People use AI in many different ways.
B.AI will take the place of human beings in all jobs.
C.Self-driving cars will be able to talk like humans.
D.A criminal was caught for inventing facial recognition.

第二节 词汇运用(共15小题,每小题1分,满分15分)
A.用方框中所给单词或短语的适当形式填空。每个单词或短语限用一次。
give up, rose, try his best, decision, prepare
It's important to decide exactly what you want. Then keep your mind focused on it, and be 51.__prepared__ to receive it.
Remember that your 52.__decisions__ will create your successes and failures(失败). So consider all the roads ahead, and decide which ones to follow. Then believe in yourself, get up, and get going.
Most important of all, never 53.__give__up__ yourself. The man that ends up as a winner is the one who 54.__tries__his__best__ to win. Give life everything you' ve got, and life will return 55.__roses__ to you.
B.阅读下面短文,然后根据括号内所给汉语意思写出单词的正确形式。每空限填一词。
Three years is very long. But now, we are ready to graduate(毕业). So today I 56.__intend__(打算) to thank all the people who helped me once.
The people 57.__whom__(那些人) I want to thank most are my teachers. You shared all your time, talent and knowledge with us. We sometimes made you 58.__disappointed__(失望的) because of all kinds of mistakes we made, but you 59.__never__(从不) gave up on us. Instead, you always 60.__allowed__(允许) us to come to your office after school for extra help when you could have gone home to spend time with your family.
To my parents, thank you for supporting me in more ways than it's possible to 61.__count__(数). You always put a glass of milk at the 62.__bedside__(床边). You saw me to the door or drove me to school. You helped me all the time but you also tried to give me enough 63.__space__(空间) to learn how to work things out for 64.__myself__(我自己).
To my friends and classmates, I have learned a lot from all of you. Thank you for your support and understanding. We sowed(播种) seeds of friendship and watered them with 65.__kindness__(好意) and patience. I will always remember that.
第三节 语法填空(共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入一个适当的词,或填入括号中所给单词的正确形式。
Some students expect to be able to “relax” for their four years at university. Now, they are receiving 66.__uncomfortable__(comfortable) “wake-up calls”. Lazy students at some famous universities like Peking University and Fudan University are being “asked to stop”—to leave the university 67.__quickly__(quick).
It's a common belief in China that once(一旦) you are accepted 68.__by__ a university, you will be promised to graduate. Your teachers may even tell you 69.__that__ you must study hard to pass the zhongkao and then the gaokao. Once you've jumped these hurdles and crossed the finishing line, there will be no more pressure. University life will be 70.__a__ piece of cake.
There is some truth to this. During junior and senior high schools, you 71.__are__required__(require) to do lots of exercises or take weekly tests. Yet at university, there is not much homework. And there is no pressure to be “top of the class”.
Some universities, however, think making life 72.__easier__(easy) for students than before isn't a good idea. Allowing students 73.__to__leave__(leave) the university no smarter than when they entered it isn't really helping them. It also makes the diploma(文凭) less valuable and 74.__hurts__(hurt) the fame of the university.
Getting knowledge is the purpose of education at all levels, from primary school 75.__to__university. And there is no “easy” way to get knowledge except through hard work.

One possible version:
How time flies! Three years of junior high school has gone by before I know it.
Each time I look back on my school days, I feel regretful, because one of my wishes hasn't been realised. That is to learn how to play the guitar. Although I was really interested in playing the instrument, I was busy working at my lessons. Besides, there was much homework to do every day.
The end of junior high school is the beginning of a new life. If I can enter senior high school, I will take part in after-school activities to learn to play the guitar. I believe I'll live a colourful life in senior high school.
