(2025·辽宁·中考真题)Last month, the local community invited kids to sing for the elderly at the nursing home. Grandma asked if I could come and sing the song that she taught me when I was a little girl. I didn’t want to let her down, but singing in public really troubled me a lot.
“I can’t do it. I’m too shy.” I told my worry to my friends Molly and Emily.
“You’re not alone,” said Molly. “I feel nervous about singing in public too.”

Emily was right. As soon as we started singing, our nervousness went away. The pretty and relaxing song just seemed to sing itself. The hall was filled with cheers. Both my wife and I are running lovers. I usually run on the track in my neighbourhood. Most people walk on the track, so I am faster than them. My speed seems amazing to the walkers and I often pass by them twenty or more times around the track. This makes me feel proud.
One day, a short man came. He didn’t look like much of a runner. I saw him get out of the car and warm up before running when I passed by two walkers. He started running a few metres ahead of me. He was fast but I sped up and managed to catch up with him. I had someone to compete with. But after a lap (圈), I fell behind him and had great difficulty in breathing. After two laps, my foot began to hurt, so I had to slow down and began to run at my usual speed. This time I could breathe again without sounding like I had a lung disease (肺病) and the pain in my foot went away. In a very short time, he was far ahead. He was too fast for me to follow.
That day, I learnt several lessons. In life, there will always be those slower and faster. Some have natural talent (天赋), and some have trained harder. Don’t judge (判断) the capacity of a person by how he or she looks.
The point is that we each have our own speed. When we are trying to keep up, we often end up hurting ourselves and being out of breath. Slow down or speed up, but run your race to your best. Don’t run fast when you should be running slowly. Don’t run at all when you should be walking. Don’t walk when you should be running.

A.He was an amazing runner. B.He was an experienced driver.
C.He wasn’t good at running. D.He was too proud of himself.

C.He sounded like having an illness. D.He started to have a pain in his foot.
27.What does the underlined word “capacity” probably mean?
A.age B.job C.attitude D.ability
28.Which can be the best title for the text?
A.The slower, the healthier B.The faster, the better
C.Keep fit through running D.Enjoy your own speed

(2025·辽宁盘锦·二模)Are there any environmental problems in your city? What causes them? Are there ways to stop them?
One winter morning, Tapiwa Chiwewe was driving to work in Johannesburg, South Africa. He noticed a haze (薄雾) hanging over the city and it didn’t take long for him to realize that it was a huge cloud of air pollution.
At that moment, Chiwewe felt it necessary to do something about it, but didn’t know what. He was a computer engineer and knew little about environmental science. He first did research on air pollution and found that it is the world’s biggest environmental health risk. He decided to work on it in a cooperative (合作的) way. He talked to scientists, officials, and engineers who helped him develop a deeper understanding of the situation, as well as an idea to improve it.
Through years of work, Chiwewe and his co-workers from South Africa and China created an online air quality decision support system. Based on historical and real-time data, the system can predict air pollution and air quality, which can help people make better decisions about their daily movements, as well as help officials better manage their operations.
Chiwewe learned an important lesson — a lesson we all need to take into heart if we are to work towards a better future. “Even if you’re not an expert in a particular field, your outside expertise (专业知识) may hold the key to solving problems within that field,” he said.
What if Chiwewe hadn’t researched the problem and do something about it? What if he had just hoped that someone, somewhere, was taking care of the matter?
As Chiwewe said, “Why not just go ahead and deal with the problem as well as you can, in your own way? You may be pleasantly surprised.”

4.What can we know from the passage?
A.Chiwewe is a person with a sense of social responsibility.
B.Chiwewe knew more about environmental science.
C.Chiwewe worked on air pollution by himself.
D.The system can reduce air pollution.
(2025·辽宁盘锦·二模)Peking Opera used to sound strange to Dou Yi. The 14-year-old Beijinger said whenever she found Peking Opera on TV, she watched another program. Like most of today’s teenagers, she preferred pop music and changed TV channels (频道) when operas played, thinking they were for older people.
This changed when her school introduced Peking Opera classes. Every week, a teacher taught students famous operas 8and the four main roles: sheng (male), dan (female), jing (colorful-faced male), and chou (comic roles). They learned basic movements like waving sleeves (衣袖) and special steps.

The event was held for charity and it asked students to climb a 10-meter wall and ring a bell at the top. Organizers would donate money based on how many students finished. Mia’s classmates asked her to join, hoping she could face her fear. Mia was nervous but decided to try because she wanted to help others.
During practice, the artificial rock wall seemed to touch the sky. Mia’s turn came, and she climbed well until reaching the marker at 5 meters. Suddenly, she noticed how small her friends looked below. Mia stopped. Her hands were wet, and her legs shook.

Like most of today’s teenagers, she preferred pop music and changed TV channels (频道) when operas played, thinking they were for older people.

(2025·辽宁铁岭·三模)A group of swans (天鹅) flew down to a beach where a crow (乌鸦) was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain(蔑视).
“You have no flying skills at all!” he said to the swans. “All that you can do is just to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, that’s beyond (超出) your ability. Let’s have a flying competition. I’ll show you what the real flying is!”
One of the swans, a strong young male, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show off (炫耀) his skills. He flew in circles, performed other flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.
Now it was the swan’s turn. He flew up and began flying over the sea. The crow flew after him, making all kinds of comments (评论) about his flying. They flew on and on till they couldn’t see the land and there was nothing but water on all sides. The crow was making fewer and fewer comments.
He was now so exhausted that he found it difficult to stay in the air, and had to struggle (拼力) to stop himself from falling into the water.
The swan pretended (假装) not to notice and said, “Why do you keep touching the water, brother? Is that another trick?”
“No,” said the crow. He knew he had lost the competition. “I’m in trouble because of my pride! If you don’t help me, I’ll lose my life.….”
The swan took pity on him, and took him on his back and flew back to the beach.

37.细节理解题。根据“You have no flying skills at all... Let’s have a flying competition. I'll show you what the real flying is!”可知,体现出乌鸦因自身飞行技巧而骄傲,进而蔑视天鹅,所以乌鸦起初看不起天鹅是因为它对自己飞行技巧很骄傲。故选C。
