Yours sincerely, Li Hua 第二节 (满分25分) Suddenly, an idea occurred to me. I whipped out my phone and searched for an image of a pumpkin. As soon as I showed it to the vendor, her eyes sparkled. She pointed to a corner of the market. There, among heaps of vegetables, sat several round, orange pumpkins! I was on the verge of jumping for joy. I bought one and carried it back with the utmost care, already envisioning how I would carve it. That night, I spent hours cutting out eyes, a nose, and a broad smile, and placed a small candle inside to test the effect. It looked perfect, just like the jack-o’-lanterns from my childhood. On Oct. 31, I brought the carefully-carved pumpkin into the classroom. The instant I set it down, the classroom fell deathly silent. Then, gasps and excited whispers filled the air. The students swarmed around, pointing at the glowing face. I told them the story of Halloween, explaining how the jack-o’-lanterns were meant to guide the spirits. They took turns holding the pumpkin, their faces illuminated by its warm light. That day, more than just a pumpkin, I had shared a piece of my culture — and it had never felt so vivid and bright. ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2025-2026学年高二选择性必修第二册英语单元测试卷 Unit4·基础卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What will the woman do? We take a look at some of the health risks being served to you! Energy Drinks You’re tired and you still have to face a physical or mental stress, so what a better friend than an energy drink to overcome the effort? However, most energy drinks contain chemicals that are harmful if taken in quantities, with effects that are similar to the ones from several other illegal drugs, smoking and alcohol consumption. White Bread White bread is poorer in fiber and protein than other bread alternatives. Fiber helps our body to understand when it has eaten enough. The sense of fullness is important if we don’t want an extra-consumption of calories. Breakfast Cereals Breakfast cereals (麦片) fill out lots of shelves in every supermarket you get inside. They’re one of the favorite foods for our first meal of the day, because they’re simply delicious. What many people are not aware of is that these products are loaded with GM (转基因) organisms which affect our immune system. If you really can’t separate yourselves from breakfast cereals, maybe you could start considering some organic breakfast cereal alternatives. Fat-Free Foods Fat-free foods may look like the gold mine for a perfectly balanced and satisfying diet, but the reality is widely different. Fats are essential for many body functions and for its healthy development. A fat-cut is not advisable especially when your workouts are regular. Plus, fat-free foods are usually high in processed sugar. 21. Which is particularly improper for a man going to the gym regularly? A. Energy drinks. B. White bread. C. Breakfast cereals. D. Fat-free foods. 22. What do the four foods have in common? A. They are delicious and healthy. B. They contain harmful chemicals. C. They hide some harmful features. D. They lack some essential nutrients. 23. In which section of a website can you probably find this passage? A. Health. B. Education. C. Economy. D. Science. B Despite living in a silent world for more than two decades, Zhan Junyi who has been deaf from birth has become a professional dancer on stage, with music now audible through an artificial cochlea On occasion, he watched the beautiful dance presentation Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, or Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva (千手观音), performed by the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe on TV. “The dance was well performed by the dancers with hearing loss, and I was moved by their excellent skills and strength,” he said. “At that time, I dreamed of being a dancer like them.” He began to watch videos of dance performances and competitions to do the dance movements. To keep up with the rhythm, he needed an artificial cochlea — a device that sends vibrations (震动) to the hearing nerve — in his ears. “With the help of the device, I can feel the vibrations of music,” he said, “but it will easily fall out when I have big movements, so I have to wear a hair band to help keep it on.” Yet through perseverance (毅力), he excelled at dancing and was admitted to the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe in 2015. In 2021, he was admitted to Changchun University to study dance. He has gained rich experience, including performing at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games and 2023 Spring Festival Gala. “I have studied modern dance, classical dance and ballet. I especially like classical dance,” he said. “Dancing brings me confidence and makes me happier and stronger. I hope to be a teacher in the future to help children with hearing loss learn dance and feel its charm.” 4. What made Zhan Junyi decide to become a dancer? A. The excellent dancing movements of Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva. B. The China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe’s guidance. C. The professional deaf dancers’ efforts and presentation. D. The in-time help of the artificial cochlea. 5. What is Zhan Junyi like according to the text? A. Intelligent. B. Half-hearted. C. Hardworking. D. Outgoing. 6. Which could best replace the underlined words “excelled at” in Paragraph 5? A. Became fond of. B. Was busy with. C. Trained for. D. Became good at. 7. In which column of a newspaper can we most likely see the text? A. Music. B. People. C. Lifestyle. D. Health. C How does an organism like fungi (真菌) without a brain exhibit signs of intelligence? The answer lies in their complex network of mycelium (菌丝体) — long and thin threads that fungi use to grow. Most people only see the tiny mushrooms above the ground and don’t know the extensive network that lies beneath. The researchers engaged in a curious experiment. They wanted to see how a mycelial network would respond to two different situations: woodblocks placed in a circle versus a cross arrangement. The question was simple — how would the fungi behave? In the cross arrangement, the further most four blocks were the most populated. The researchers believe this is because the fungi see these outer blocks as outposts (前哨站), helping the mycelial network branch out into further areas. Hence, thick connections were noticed here. When it came to the circle arrangement, there was equal connection at all blocks, but the center remained untouched. The fungi did not see a benefit in extending its network into an area that already had plenty of company. These actions suggest that fungi communicate information across the entire mycelial network, adjusting their growth direction depending on their surrounding shape. Fungi exhibit remarkable efficiency when it comes to resource allocation, a skill essential for their survival and growth. This ability to optimize resources is a result of complex feedback mechanisms and environmental assessments conducted by the mycelial network. Researchers claim that fungi prioritize areas with abundant resources, indicating an advanced understanding of their surroundings. In resource-rich zones, mycelium growth accelerates, capturing nutrients and storing them for future use. This practice not only ensures the fungi thrive in unstable environments but also highlights their ecological significance as decomposers (分解器) and nutrient recyclers. The unique problem-solving abilities and efficient networking strategies of fungi have inspired innovations in human technology. Scientists are exploring mycelial algorithms (算法) to develop more efficient networks, such as urban planning and telecommunications systems. The fungi’s extraordinary capacity to communicate and coordinate across their networks offers insights into creating sustainable systems. By imitating their resource allocation methods, researchers a I m to create solutions that enhance human infrastructure (基础建设) leading to smarter and more adaptive frameworks. 28. What can we learn about fungi? A. They are an indicator of their ecological surroundings. B. They can make use of all available resources around them. C. They display their unique ability to respond to the environment. D. They can adjust their growth rate based on their surrounding shape. 29 What does the underlined word “optimize” probably mean in Paragraph 3? A. Make the best of. B. Figure out. C. Pay attention to. D. Look for. 30. What does the last paragraph mainly focus on? A. Unfound capabilities of fungi. B. The potential market for fungi. C. Fungi’s inspiration for human technology. D. The limitation of the experiment on fungi. 31. What would be a suitable title for this text? A. Nature: An Outdoor Classroom B. A Glimpse into the World of Fungi C. Networking challenge of Fungi in Nature D. An Intelligent Ability Discovered in Fungi D When stressed out, many of us turn to junk food for comfort. But new University of Colorado Boulder research suggests this strategy may have the opposite effect. The study found that in animals, a high-fat diet destroys resident gut (肠道) bacteria, changes behavior and, through a complex pathway connecting the gut to the brain, influences brain chemicals in ways that increase anxiety. “Everyone knows that these are not healthy foods, but we tend to think about them only in terms of a little weight gain,” said lead author Lowry. “If you understand that they also impact your brain in a way that can promote anxiety, that makes the risk even higher.” Lowry’s team divided adolescent rats into two groups: Half got a standard diet of about 11% fat for nine weeks; the others got-a high-fat diet of 45% fat, consisting mostly of saturated (饱和) fat from animal products. After nine weeks, the animals underwent behavioral tests. When compared to the former group, the group eating a high-fat diet, not surprisingly, gained weight. But the animals also showed significantly less diversity of gut bacteria. Generally speaking, more bacterial diversity is associated with better health, Lowry explained. The high-fat diet group also showed higher expression of three genes involved-in production and signaling of the serotonin (血清素), which is associated with-stress and anxiety. While serotonin is often billed as a “feel-good brain chemical”, Lowry notes that it can lead to anxiety-like responses in animals. “To think that just a high-fat diet could change expression of these genes in the brain is extraordinary,” said Lowry. “The high-fat group essentially had a high anxiety state in their brain. ” Lowry stresses that not all fats are bad, and that healthy fats like those found in fish, olive oil, nuts and seeds can be good for the brain. His advice is: Eat as many different kinds of fruits and vegetables as possible. 12. What can we learn about the study by Lowry’s team? A. All rats ate the same diet. B. Rats were divided into two diet groups. C. Anxiety was tested before and after eating. D. Behavior was observed without dietary change. 13. What is the relationship between gut bacteria diversity and health? A. Less bacteria diversity indicates better health. B. Gut bacteria diversity has no impact on health. C. Gut bacteria diversity mainly depends on health. D. Bacteria diversity is positively associated with fitness. 14. What can be known about serotonin? A. It reduces the feeling of pressure. B. It leads to weight gain. C. It’s merely affected by healthy fats. D. It can cause anxiety-like reaction. 15. What is the main idea of the text? A. High-fat diet is the main cause of fat. B. Stay healthy and keep from gaining weight. C. Junk food consumption may increase anxiety. D. Gut bacteria diversity increases with high-fat diets. The Significance of a Healthy Lifestyle As senior high students, we often find ourselves buried under a pile of textbooks and assignments, making it easy to ignore our health. ___36___ A healthy lifestyle significantly contributes to physical fitness. I was in one of the many street markets of Luzhou, a small city located in China’s Sichuan Province. Already, a crowd of curious on-lookers was gathering: white-haired grandmas, toothless old men, mothers holding infants. Everyone was waiting, wondering why the foreigner was causing such a fuss I took a deep breath. The crowd leaned in. “Do you have a pumpkin?” I asked as clearly as possible. A mother holding an infant explained there was no pumpkin here in English. I had to move on to yet another market in my search for Halloween. As an American English teacher in China, the urge was strong to explain my country’s cultural traditions to my students. I’d had plenty of success in teaching the Chinese about significant United States holidays and events, Halloween being one of them. Yet I was now in a new teaching position, in a different region of the country which seems to have every kind of produce known to man except the one I wanted for Oct.31. I had learned that in teaching about Halloween, there was no substitute (替代品) for a carved pumpkin. Descriptions produced blank stares. Drawings were misinterpreted. Pictures only puzzled. Sure, I could give up showing a real jack-o’-lantern (南瓜灯) to my students. I could lecture on the history of this tradition, which had its origin in old beliefs about the return of the spirits of dead people. We could have a go at wearing masks, and role-play trick-or-treat. But nothing could compare with the pumpkin. For that reason, I was willing to go through just about anything to find a pumpkin for my students. In another section of the city, I headed to a big market. “Do you have a pumpkin?” I asked the seller I saw. “A what?” she seemed to be at a loss. However, I didn’t know how to make her understand what I wanted. Suddenly, an idea occurred to me. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ On Oct. 31, I brought the carefully-carved pumpkin into the class. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共12页) 试题 第4页(共12页) 试题 第1页(共12页) 试题 第2页(共12页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2025-2026学年高二选择性必修第二册英语单元测试 Unit4·基础卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What will the woman do? D. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On Oct. 31, I brought the carefully-carved pumpkin into the class. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 1 / 12 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2025-2026学年高二选择性必修第二册英语单元测试 Unit4·基础卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1. A fat-cut is not advisable especially when your workouts are regular.(脂肪对身体的许多功能和健康发育至关重要,尤其是经常锻炼时,减少脂肪摄入是不可取的)”。 22.文章开头即点明 “Some of the ‘everyday foods’ we eat hide some unhealthy features, which most people ignore.(我们吃的一些‘日常食物’隐藏着一些不健康的特征,大多数人都忽视了这一点)”,随后分别介绍了四种食物的健康风险。 B Despite living in a silent world for more than two decades, Zhan Junyi who has been deaf from birth has become a professional dancer on stage, with music now audible through an artificial cochlea On occasion, he watched the beautiful dance presentation Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, or Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva (千手观音), performed by the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe on TV. 32. What can we learn about the study by Lowry’s team? A. All rats ate the same diet. B. Rats were divided into two diet groups. C. Anxiety was tested before and after eating. D. Behavior was observed without dietary change. 33. What is the relationship between gut bacteria diversity and health? A. Less bacteria diversity indicates better health. B. Gut bacteria diversity has no impact on health. C. Gut bacteria diversity mainly depends on health. D. Bacteria diversity is positively associated with fitness. 34. What can be known about serotonin? A. It reduces the feeling of pressure. B. It leads to weight gain. C. It’s merely affected by healthy fats. D. It can cause anxiety-like reaction. 35. What is the main idea of the text? A. High-fat diet is the main cause of fat. B. Stay healthy and keep from gaining weight. C. Junk food consumption may increase anxiety. D. Gut bacteria diversity increases with high-fat diets. 32. B 33. D 34. D 35. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________ On Oct. 31, I brought the carefully-carved pumpkin into the class. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文】 Suddenly, an idea occurred to me. Did you feed the dog this morning?
