我的家乡聊城
Glad to receive your email. I know you will visit my
hometown from Shanghai. Now let me tell you something
about it.
My hometown is Liaocheng, located in the west of
Shandong Province. It has a population of over 5.8 million.
Known as “the Water City in the North”, it’s surrounded
by beautiful lakes and rivers. The weather here is hot in
summer and cold in winter. There are three ways to get
here from Shanghai. Taking a train is more relaxing and
cheaper than a coach, but it takes 15 hours. The coach is
the second cheapest, yet it can get crowded in summer. By
plane is the fastest but the most expensive, and sometimes
you might wait hours at the airport due to bad weather. I

suggest taking the train for a comfortable journey.
Looking forward to your arrival!

The Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of China’s important
traditional festivals. Its core tradition is family reunion. On
this day, people usually gather with their families, enjoy
mooncakes, and admire the full moon, symbolizing unity
and happiness.
In recent years, many people have adopted new ways to
spend the festival. Some have video calls with family to
“reunite” online, sharing mooncakes and stories through
screens. Others volunteer in their cities, sending warmth to
those in need.
In my opinion, these new ways are meaningful. Though
physical separation exists, the love and care between
families remain. They show people’s adaptability and

responsibility, making the festival carry a special
significance in difficult times.

发现中国之美
I’m glad you’re interested in Chinese culture. Let me
share some of its beauty with you.
China has amazing scenic spots. The Great Wall, one of
the world’s wonders, winds through mountains. It’s more
impressive than any man-made structure I’ve seen, showing
ancient Chinese wisdom. In modern times, China shines in
technology. High-speed trains are faster than many trains
worldwide, connecting cities quickly. Last year, I took one
—it was so smooth that I could read a book easily.
These just show a little of China’s charm. Come and
explore someday!
