Unit 3 The Internet-Discovering Useful Structures
教学目标
Language Competence:Students will be able to recognize and correctly use grammar structures related to the Internet, like present perfect continuous tense for continuous online activities. This helps them express ideas precisely in both speaking and writing about Internet - related topics.
Cultural Awareness:By studying Internet - based language structures, students can understand how the Internet shapes global cultures, such as the spread of online slang across different regions. It promotes an awareness of cultural integration in the digital age.
重点难点
Key Points:Mastering grammar structures frequently used when discussing the Internet, such as present perfect tense for actions with present results on the Internet. Also, being able to apply these structures in simple sentences about Internet use.
Difficult Points:Differentiating between similar grammar tenses in Internet - related contexts, like the subtle difference between present perfect and present perfect continuous when describing online experiences. Moreover, using these structures accurately in complex sentences involving multiple clauses about the Internet.

Teacher: Good morning, class! Today, we are going to focus on the Discovering Useful Structures part in Unit 3 The Internet. Before we start, let's quickly recall some of the things we learned in the previous reading section. Who can tell me one way the Internet has changed people's lives, like in the story of Jan Tchamani?
Student 1: The Internet helped Jan when she was ill and couldn't work. She joined an online group and got support, and later she even started an IT club.
Teacher: Excellent! The Internet indeed has a profound impact on our lives. Now, let's look at the grammar focus of this section - the present perfect passive voice. First, let's see some examples. Look at the screen.
(Shows the first set of sentences on the screen)
Teacher: Here are two sentences. Sentence A: "People have changed the way they communicate." And Sentence B: "The way people communicate has been changed." What do you notice about these two sentences? Discuss with your partner for a minute.
(Students discuss)
Teacher: Okay, let's hear your thoughts.
Student 2: In Sentence A, "people" is the subject, and they are the ones doing the action of changing. But in Sentence B, "the way people communicate" is the subject, and it's being changed.
Teacher: Exactly! In Sentence A, we have the active voice, where the subject performs the action. In Sentence B, we have the present perfect passive voice. The action is done to the subject. Now, let's analyze the structure. In the present perfect passive voice, we use "have/has been + past participle". In the sentence "The way people communicate has been changed", "has been" comes from "have/has" according to the subject "the way" (which is singular here), and "changed" is the past participle of the verb "change".
Let's look at another example. "They have built many new websites." Change this sentence into the present perfect passive voice. Raise your hands if you know the answer.
Student 3: Many new websites have been built.
Teacher: Perfect! Now, let's practice identifying the present perfect passive voice. I will show you some sentences, and you tell me if they are in the present perfect passive voice or not.
(Shows sentences one by one on the screen)
Teacher: Sentence 1: "The information has been updated recently." Is this in the present perfect passive voice?
Students: Yes!
Teacher: Great. And Sentence 2: "He has found a lot of useful resources on the Internet."
Students: No. It's in the present perfect active voice.
Teacher: Correct. Now, let's move on to Activity 2 in your textbooks. You need to change the present perfect active voice sentences into the present perfect passive voice. Work on it for a few minutes, and then we'll check the answers together.
(Students work on Activity 2)
Teacher: Let's check the answers. For the first sentence "People have used the Internet for various purposes", who can give the passive form?
Student 4: The Internet has been used for various purposes.
Teacher: Right. How about the second sentence "They have developed new online games"?
Student 5: New online games have been developed.
Teacher: Excellent. Now, let's think about why we use the present perfect passive voice. In the context of the Internet, for example, when we want to focus on the result of an action that has been done to something related to the Internet, we use this structure. Suppose we want to talk about a popular app. Instead of saying "The company has created a popular app", if we want to emphasize the app itself, we can say "A popular app has been created by the company".
Let's do a little group activity. I will divide you into groups of four. Each group needs to come up with three sentences related to the Internet, one in the present perfect active voice and two in the present perfect passive voice. You have 10 minutes to complete this task.
(Teacher divides students into groups, and they start working)
Teacher: Time's up. Now, each group, choose a representative to come to the front and share your sentences with the class.
(Group representatives come to the front and share their sentences)
Group 1 representative: Our present perfect active voice sentence is "Many users have downloaded this new software." And our present perfect passive voice sentences are "This new software has been downloaded by millions of users." and "The bugs in the software have been fixed by the developers."
Teacher: Very good. The sentences are relevant to the Internet and the structures are correct. Let's move on to Group 2.
(Group 2 representative shares their sentences)
Teacher: Great job, Group 2. Now, let's look at Activity 3 in the textbook. It's about a poem. First, let's read the poem together.
(Teacher and students read the poem aloud)
Teacher: This poem uses the present perfect passive voice in an interesting way. Notice how it describes the changes on the Internet. Now, I want you to work with your partner and try to write a short poem of your own, using the present perfect passive voice to describe something about the Internet. You can think about things like how information has been spread, or how connections have been made. You have 15 minutes to write your poem.
(Students work with their partners to write poems)
Teacher: Alright, let's stop here. Who would like to share their poem with the class? Volunteer!
Student 6 and Student 7:
The news has been spread far and wide,
Across the net, from side to side.
New friends have been made online,
In this digital world that shines.
Videos have been watched by all,
Knowledge has been shared, big and small.
The Internet, a place so grand,
Where changes have been made, across the land.
Teacher: That's a wonderful poem! You used the present perfect passive voice very well and the description about the Internet is vivid. Now, let's summarize what we have learned today. We learned about the present perfect passive voice, how to form it, how to identify it, and how to use it in the context of the Internet.
For homework, I want you to write a short passage about the Internet. You need to use at least five sentences in the present perfect passive voice. This passage should be about 150 - 200 words. You can describe the changes on the Internet, the things that have been done on the Internet, or how the Internet has been used in different fields.
That's all for today's class. Thank you, everyone!
