Hawn never imagined she’d find her passion in such an unusual field. Despite the unconventional path, she has discovered deep contentment with working at a lice (虱子) clinic. Her role comes with a diverse set of responsibilities, from detecting and treating head lice using an officially approved device to scheduling appointments, selling products, collecting payments, and providing education to patients. Yet. Hawn’s primary focus is to assuage the fears of her patients. She takes enormous joy in helping mothers avoid panic attacks after long days, saving teenage girls from embarrassment at school, and bringing peace of mind to those who have been dealing with lice. For Hawn, seeing the positive impact she has on people’s lives makes a big difference. Working at the lice clinic has not only helped her develop career skills, but it has also confirmed her desire to work in healthcare. Through her experience, Hawn has realized that her true passion lies in helping others regain their confidence and peace of mind. Hawn has been working at the clinic for nearly five years. Despite the misconceptions people have about lice, she remains committed to her work. She even addresses the common myth that lice can fly or jump, explaining that lice only spread through direct head-to-head contact. Hawn takes precautions to ensure she doesn’t carry anything home after treatments. While balancing her work at the clinic with school is demanding, Hawn manages by taking weekend shifts. She is fortunate to have employers who accommodate her school schedule. Her primary goal throughout her education has been to graduate debt-free, and the lice clinic has provided her with the means to achieve this. Looking to the future, Hawn plans to focus on her current work after graduation but she is open to continuing part-time at the lice clinic. She has even considered opening her own clinic one day. Her work at the lice clinic has been a stepping stone toward a promising future in health care. 24. Hawn believes that working at the clinic can bring her a sense of ________. A. relief B. belonging C. satisfaction D. responsibility 25. What does the underlined word “assuage” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Tolerate. B. Record. C. Ease. D. Explain. 26. She works to support herself through college. 27. What does Hawn probably intend to do after graduation? A. Devote herself to health care. B. Reconsider her initial work plan. C. Further her study on medicine. D. Get a full-time job at the lice clinic. Humans have always been creating security systems to deal with the sorts of mistakes humans commonly make. Now, humanity is rapidly integrating a totally different kind of mistake-maker into society: artificial intelligence (AI). Technologies like large language models (LLMs) can perform many cognitive (认知的) tasks traditionally fulfilled by humans, but they make plenty of mistakes. Unlike human mistakes, AI errors lack patterns and usually show invisibility even when they are incorrect. This situation indicates two possible areas of research. The first is to engineer LLMs that make more human-like mistakes. The second is to build new mistake-correcting systems that deal with the specific sorts of mistakes that LLMs tend to make. We already have some tools to lead LLMs to act in more human-like ways and the tools perform far better than we expected. Many of these arise from the field of “alignment” research, which aims to make models act in accordance with the goals and motivations of their human developers. One example is the technique that was arguably responsible for the breakthrough success of an app: reinforcement (强化) learning with human feedback. In this method, an AI model is rewarded for producing responses that get a thumbs-up from human evaluators. When it comes to catching AI mistakes, some of the systems that we use to prevent human mistakes will help. To an extent, forcing LLMs to double-check their own work can help prevent errors. But LLMs can also make up seemingly reasonable, but truly ridiculous explanations for their flights from reason. In addition, other mistake reduction systems for AI are also unlike anything we use for humans. Because machines can’t get tired or frustrated in the way that humans do, it can help to ask an LLM the same question repeatedly in slightly different ways and then combine its multiple responses. These differences highlight the need for new, custom-made correction mechanisms (机制) that match the unique nature of AI-ensuring these technologies can be safely and reliably integrated into human societies. 28. How are AI mistakes different from human mistakes? A. They are not easy to detect. B. They follow predictable patterns. C. They tend to be in larger numbers. D. They are not related to cognitive tasks. 29. What does the author want to stress about the tools for leading the behavior of LLMs? A. They have certain positive effects. B. Their application hasn’t been popular. C. They need further training for human evaluators’ rewards. D. Their goals have not met the original intentions of human developers. 30. What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs? A. AI mistakes are easier to fix than human errors. B. Humans require tailored solutions for AI errors. C. AI is able to copy any systems we use for humans. D. Systems for correcting human mistakes can prevent LLMs mistakes fully. 31. What is the the best title for the text? A. Why Is AI Always Right? B. When Do Human Errors Increase? C. Adapting to AI Error Patterns D. Making AI Mistakes Manageable When Barry Libert and Jon Spector set out to write about how social networking might help businesses, they allowed just about anyone with an idea to help write the book. Thousands of people contributed to We Are Smarter Than Me, which is about the wisdom of the crowd. Spector says the book was initially modeled after a popular online encyclopedia (百科全书) written and edited by Internet users. “We’ve actually struggled throughout the process on the differences between the online encyclopedia and writing a book: How do you combine the ideas, and how do you get a single common voice across?” Spector says. Spector and Libert tried to set guidelines for how people should write, but that proved too restrictive. “Finally we said... you have to have no guidelines,“ Spector says. “And we talked to ourselves about giving up control. Were we ready to do it? And eventually we said to ourselves, ‘Look, if we believe in this concept, we have to carry it out.’ And we did. And that’s really when the contributions from the community began to pick up.” The authors felt that social networking wasn’t just about the famous social media platform. “It was really about how businesses might think about crowds,” Libert says. “Not just their employees as crowds, but also customers, partners, distributors, and investors as crowds-and to use those crowds as a way to improve whatever activity they’re working on...” In one success story that proved the power of the crowd, a gold mining company had essentially run out of places to look for gold. It decided to publish its geological data on the Web and allowed outsiders to contribute suggestions for new locations to mine. “They found $3 billion of new gold out there” Spector says. “There’s just that knowledge out there and that’s the essential premise (前提) of the book: We, some of whom are unknown, are smarter than a small group of experts inside a company.” 32. What made the writing of We Are Smarter Than Me unique? A. It copied the encyclopedia’s editing rules. B. It collected ideas from the public. C. It followed strict writing guidelines. D. It focused on social media impact. 33. Why did the authors finally remove writing guidelines? A. To appeal to more professional writers. B. To make the book more interesting. C. To truly practice their belief in the public. D. To protect employees’ enthusiasm. 34. What does the gold mining company’s example prove? A. Crowds can outperform experts. B. Online data may risk business security. C. Business should involve outsiders. D. Geological data is vital for gold mining. 35. What does the text intend to do? A. Share a writing skill. B. Highlight a trend. C. Recommend a working procedure. D. Clarify a concept. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Psychologists have conducted thousands of studies of the features people find desirable in friends. He never mentioned his life before becoming “Dad”. He never talked about it. The only hint (暗示) of his past was a locked drawer in the old desk in his study. As a child, I tried to open the lock once. But all I got was a warning: “Some things stay put for a reason.” After that, I stopped asking questions. Years later, as I grew up, my father’s health was not as good as before. I noticed him walking slower and spending long hours sitting silently in the study. One day, the hospital called. It was lung cancer. I moved home from the company dormitory. We settled into an awkward routine — I took care of him and he pretended not to be in pain. One day, while dusting the study, I found an old key beneath a drawer. My hands froze. Curiously, I unlocked the drawer. Inside was a single item: a handbound sketchbook (素描簿), its cover marked with faded initials — L.B., which is like the pen name of the artist in my impression. I opened it immediately. Page after page showed cartoon-style drawings-two boys in school uniforms, one with messy hair, the other with glasses, laughing and racing. On the last page, a note was written: “For Leo-Ben”. I wondered who Ben was? And why had my father locked this away? I immediately brought him the sketchbook. At first, he said nothing, just staring at the cover. Then he whispered, “You found it.” “Who’s Ben?” I asked gently. “Ben was my best friend. We made comics together and dreamed of publishing our own series. But just before high school ended, his family left without warning. No goodbye. No address.” “Why didn’t you try to find him?” Dad shook his head. “I did. I wrote letters and even called his uncle once — but it led nowhere. After a while, I convinced myself it was better not to know.” He looked down at the sketchbook. “But I never stopped thinking about him.” 注意: 1.续写词数应150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 That night, I opened my laptop and started searching for Ben. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Three days later, Ben came to visit. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高二考试英语试卷 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? Making AI Mistakes Manageable 【答案】28. A 29. A 30. B 31. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了AI的犯错机制以及应对的方法。 28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段末句“Unlike human mistakes, AI errors lack patterns and usually show invisibility even when they are incorrect.(与人类的错误不同,人工智能的错误缺乏规律,即便出错也往往难以察觉)”可知,人工智能的错误不太容易被发现。故选A项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“We already have some tools to lead LLMs to act in more human-like ways and the tools perform far better than we expected.(我们已经有一些工具能让大型语言模型以更像人类的方式行事,而且这些工具的表现远远超出了我们的预期)”和“One example is the technique that was arguably responsible for the breakthrough success of an app: reinforcement learning with human feedback.(一个例子是某种技术,这种技术或许正是某款应用程序取得突破性成功的关键所在:结合人类反馈的强化学习)”可推断,AI有着积极的作用。故选A项。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据末段末句“These differences highlight the need for new, custom-made correction mechanisms that match the unique nature of AI-ensuring these technologies can be safely and reliably integrated into human societies.(这些差异凸显了需要建立全新的、定制化的纠正机制,以适应人工智能的独特特性——从而确保这些技术能够安全、可靠地融入人类社会之中)”可推断对于AI的错误,人类需要量身定制解决方案。故选B项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据首段末句“Now, humanity is rapidly integrating a totally different kind of mistake-maker into society: artificial intelligence (如今,人类正迅速将一种截然不同的“错误制造者”引入社会:那就是人工智能)以及末段末句“These differences highlight the need for new, custom-made correction mechanisms that match the unique nature of AI-ensuring these technologies can be safely and reliably integrated into human societies.(这些差异凸显了需要建立全新的、定制化的纠正机制,以适应人工智能的独特特性——从而确保这些技术能够安全、可靠地融入人类社会之中)”,可知本文主要介绍了AI出现的问题及纠正机制,选项D表示“让人工智能犯错变得可控”,适合作文章标题。故选D项。 When Barry Libert and Jon Spector set out to write about how social networking might help businesses, they allowed just about anyone with an idea to help write the book. Thousands of people contributed to We Are Smarter Than Me, which is about the wisdom of the crowd. Spector says the book was initially modeled after a popular online encyclopedia (百科全书) written and edited by Internet users “We’ve actually struggled throughout the process on the differences between the online encyclopedia and writing a book: How do you combine the ideas, and how do you get a single common voice across?” Spector says. “They found $3 billion of new gold out there,” Spector says. C. “But I never stopped thinking about him.” 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 That night, I opened my laptop and started searching for Ben. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Three days later, Ben came to visit. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 That night, I opened my laptop and started searching for Ben. I tried to look for the blog of the artist in my impression. To my surprise, on each of his blogs was a simple line: “It was inspired by a childhood friend named Leo, who believed in stories when no one else did.” There was no doubt that he was the one I was looking for. I wrote to him instantly, pouring everything into the message and it wasn’t long before his reply came: “Leo? After all these years? Tell him I’m coming.” Three days later, Ben came to visit. When Ben stepped through our door, it was as if time itself held its breath. Gone were the boys in the sketchbook, yet something of them remained — in the way they embraced, in the silence that followed, heavy with memories. My father, who rarely cried, let the tears fall freely. Together, they reopened the sketchbook, each page unlocking laughter, sorrow, and the dreams they had once dared to dream. In that moment, I realized time may weather the pages of a sketchbook, but it can never erase the colors painted in the heart. 词汇激活 行为类: ①寻找:look for/seek for ②拥抱:embrace/hug ③意识到:realize/be aware 情绪类: ①惊讶:surprise/astonishment ②悲伤:sorrow/grief/sadness 【点睛】【高分句型1】When Ben stepped through our door, it was as if time itself held its breath. (运用了When引导的状语从句,as if引导的表语从句) 【高分句型2】My father, who rarely cried, let the tears fall freely.(运用了who引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
