阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Millions of travelers make it to Marrakech each year, but not enough spare time to explore the rest of the country — Morocco. This tour is a classic loop of the highlights, including saffron-scented medinas, mountain villages, giant sand dunes and fortified fishing towns.
Yves Saint Laurent’s Marrakech
The French-Algerian fashion designer’s impact on Marrakech — and the city’s influence on him — was significant, and this mutual appreciation continues thanks to the Jardin Majorelle and Musée Yves Saint Laurent. The latter, a striking museum, focuses on the designer’s fashions and how he was influenced by Morocco.
Ouirgane Valley
Juniper, olive and walnut trees fill the dips and curves of Ouirgane in the High Atlas. It’s one of several valleys ideal for gentle foothill hikes, but receives far fewer visitors than most as it’s off the Marrakech day-trip circuit.
Aït Benhaddou
In the early 1960s, location scouts (侦察员) for the film Lawrence of Arabia saw the magic in this rammed-earth ksar. Its starring role in the movie — and many other big-and small-screen outings since, including Game of Thrones — has made it a highlight of the drive to the Sahara. In recent years, locals have invited artists to set up galleries inside the fortified village’s abandoned houses.
Erg Chebbi
Riding a camel through the sands of the Sahara is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The most accessible tours run from the village of Merzouga to Erg Chebbi — where the dunes rise to 160 metres and stretch for 17 miles — but even then it takes around nine hours by car from Marrakech to reach them.
21. Which of the following is quite suitable for a walking tour?
A. Yves Saint Laurent’s Marrakech. B. Ouirgane Valley.
C. Aït Benhaddou. D. Erg Chebbi.
22. What makes Aït Benhaddou a highlight on the way to the Sahara?
A. Art galleries in old houses. B. Earthen architecture style.
C. Its special geographic location. D. Its appearances in various films.
23. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Tourism resource development. B. Travel experience presentation.
C. The Morocco classic tour loop. D. The Marrakech day-trip circuit.
B
When I order food for delivery, I often play a little game, wondering how many sets of cutlery (餐具) the restaurant will include with my meal. More often than not, restaurants go overboard. They throw in two, three, or even four sets, even though I rarely need any. This extra cutlery either ends up in the trash or collecting dust in a kitchen drawer, which is such a waste.
Chinese tech giant Alibaba and its researchers came up with a simple solution to this common problem. Instead of mindlessly handing out cutlery, they made a change to their food-delivery app. In select cities in China, customers now have to choose how many sets of cutlery they actually want from the restaurant. And guess what? The default (默认) option is set to zero. The results, published in the journal Science, were astonishing. There was a whopping 648% increase in the number of orders with no cutlery requested. If this approach were rolled out across China, researchers estimated that it could save nearly 22 billion sets of plastic cutlery and reduce 3.26 million metric tons of plastic waste.
This study really opened my eyes. It shows that there are so many low-hanging fruits in our economy that can help cut waste and emissions. For Alibaba, this “nudge” to customers cost them nothing more than a few hours of software engineering time. But the impact? It was huge.
The concept of “nudging” is fascinating. Nudge theory suggests that small, subtle signals can encourage people to do the right thing. There’s no need for strict policies that limit choices or economic punishments. For example, a restaurant could list healthy options at the top of the menu to nudge customers towards making healthier choices.
Some might see this study as just another example of putting the onus (责任) on consumers for environmental issues, similar to the plastic straw debate. But I look at it differently. In the absence of comprehensive environmental policies, companies like Alibaba can play a crucial role in driving widespread changes in consumer behavior.
24. What is the aim of the author’s game when ordering food for delivery?
A. To calculate the cost of the cutlery.
B. To test the service quality of the restaurant.
C. To pass the time while waiting for the food.
D. To guess the number of cutlery sets provided.
25. What is Alibaba’s solution to the cutlery waste problem?
A. Charging extra for cutlery.
B. Designing new food-delivery apps.
C. Letting customers decide cutlery quantity.
D. Encouraging restaurants to offer less package.
26. What does the underlined part “low-hanging fruits” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Problems that are hard to solve. B. Ideas that are creative but risky.
C. Measures that are easy and effective. D. Goals that are difficult to achieve.
27. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. The Plastic Straw Debate B. Active Environment Policy
C. Reducing Food-Delivery Cost D. Nudging Consumers to Cut Waste
C
This weekend, I sowed the first seeds of the season—five varieties of tomato. I’m not one for sowing seeds early, but tomatoes need every day of the growing season to offer up the best possible harvest.
Gardeners and growers are well versed (精通的) in the nature of change. However, despite what plants have taught me about living and working with forces beyond my control, I frequently experience climate anxiety. All it takes is a few days of unexpectedly changeable weather for panic to rise up in my throat. Yet, it is through working with plants that I’ve found a way of dealing with this particular anxiety—to pay even more attention to the wonder of the natural world instead of choosing to turn away. And right now, as winter gives way to spring, is the ideal time to start a practice of noticing.
On the days I spend with my crops, I resist the urge to dive straight into all there is to do; instead, I first stop to observe what’s new and what’s changed. I’m hungrily searching for green shoots and swelling buds (花蕾). I’m drinking in all the signs of new life that remind me that spring has always come and will in all likelihood be beautiful. When anxious headlines make me feel powerless and want to disengage, I develop my sense of essential connection with the natural world. This simply feels more possible in spring.
Despite the very real challenges and dangers we face in this time of climate crisis, the natural world insists on showing us what flexibility and optimism look like and it’s our responsibility to take note and follow suit.
As I write these words, I have a blanket on my knees and the window open to allow a silver of the cool breeze to blow in. The world feels fresh and lively and is full of new energy. I trust that the plants I grow this season will thrive. And I know that spring, hopefully one that’s overflowing with blossom, is already on its way.
28. Why did the author begin to plant tomatoes this weekend?
A. To ensure sufficient growth time.
B. To promote early planting techniques.
C. To avoid unpredictable spring weather.
D. To experiment with new seed varieties.
29. What is the purpose of the second paragraph?
A. To define gardeners and growers.
B. To share a way to deal with climate anxiety.
C. To criticize those ignoring environmental problems.
D. To argue for gardening as the best nature connection.
30. What does the author focus on when working in the garden?
A. New changes in plants. B. The harvest of crops.
C. The beautiful surroundings. D. Daily weather situations.
31. Which words best describe the author?
A. Concerned and anxious. B. Observant and positive.
C. Considerate but overconfident. D. Patient but impractical.
D
Recently, AI-generated art is worrying to some artists, who wonder whether they’ll be replaced by this technology. Meanwhile, others consider AI creations as little more than high-tech copying. A mass of AI tools have become available to the general public. The most accessible ones only require inputting a few words to create original images, which has resulted in a wave of surreal memes (表情包). However, when a work of art made with AI controversially won an art prize in Colorado, many realized that the technology has more to offer than just memes.
A digital artist experimenting with AI is Zzai, who was born in Guangxi, China. While browsing through Zzai’s attractive creations, few might guess that the artist has been experimenting with AI for only half a year. “In May I started following some bloggers on Xiaohongshu and I was really inspired by their creations, so I started learning,” says the artist. Based on an AI image generator called Midjourney, Zzai creates visionary images that blend (融合) cyberpunk with Chinese culture and history. The artist’s series Cyber Peking Opera attempts to answer the question, “When we enter the metaverse (虚拟现实空间), what will traditional art come to?” and explores the relationship between tradition and technology while also processing culture by way of digitization.
“The rise of AI technology is an irreversible trend,” adds Zzai. “Its scale and spread will only increase when the physical world and virtual reality are blended.” While generating AI artwork often takes no more than a minute, the preparatory work is time-consuming. Artists need to familiarize themselves with different software and put together strings of text to produce the desired results.
Zzai is using his eye-catching creations to combat negative stereotypes of AI-generated art. “Opinions are very polarized. Some are supportive of this technology, but many are resistant to change,” he says. “AI is worthy of our imagination, and my projects make use of this technology to make bold attempts at creation.” Through his work, Zzai demonstrates that AI is not just a tool for replication but a medium for bold, innovative expression, offering new ways to reimagine and preserve cultural heritage in the digital age.
32. What can be inferred from the winning of an AI-made work?
A. AI art has shown its true potential.
B. Traditional form still holds its advantage.
C. Artists are doubtful about the technology.
D. High-tech copying consists of simple memes.
33. How does Zzai create his series?
A. By relying on the AI tool and his ideas.
B. By combining different AI image generators.
C. By using his rich experience in traditional art.
D. By learning from digital artists on Xiaohongshu.
34. Why does producing AI artwork require much time of artists?
A. They need to design enough original images.
B. They have to understand the metaverse’s feature.
C. They have to spend ages in improving the software.
D. They need to grasp software operation and process texts.
35. What is Zzai’s attitude towards AI technology?
A. Cautious. B. Critical. C. Confident. D. Uncertain.

The 7-38-55 rule, developed by Albert Mehrabian in 1971, shows that only 7% of meaning is communicated through words, while 38% through tone of voice and 55% through body language.
36 Here are some tips for applying the 7-38-55 rule in a negotiation (谈判) context:
37 Your body language is much more important than what you’re actually saying. If your counterpart’s body language indicates that they are about to lose their bearings, speak calmly and plainly, slowing the pace of the negotiation.
Look for differences between spoken words and nonverbal behaviors. When you’re at the negotiating table, pay attention to how your counterpart speaks and acts. 38 It’s also important that you make sure your own nonverbal messages are in line with what you are saying. If your facial expressions are pained and you’re keeping your contact, you are communicating your uncertainty to your counterpart no matter what you’re saying.
Learn to use different vocal tones. Mastering the use of your voice can help you become a better negotiator by improving the delivery of your debates. In the negotiating room, there are three main tones of voice: competitive, compromising, and accommodating. 39
40 Tap into your listening skills, assess how your counterpart is feeling, and change your nonverbal communication in response. When debating the main points in a negotiation, you should try to change your nonverbal behaviors based on the messages you are receiving from your counterpart. Even if your arguments themselves don’t change, changing your nonverbal messaging can be effective.
A. Observe your counterpart’s body language.
B. Adjust your own nonverbal communication.
C. Communicate non-verbally with your counterpart.
D. Do you express your ideas properly to your counterpart?
E. This highlights the importance of nonverbal communication.
F. Generally speaking, a cooperative voice gently promotes partnership.
G. Do what they’re saying matches the way they’re carrying themselves?

In July, 2024, Beijing Central Axis (中轴线) 56 (add) to the UNESCO World Heritage List, becoming China’s 59th World Heritage Site. Rooted in the paradigm (范式) of ideal capital planning in traditional Chinese culture, the Central Axis in Beijing, 57 governs the overall layout of the old city area of the Chinese capital, shows an ensemble (整体) of palaces, public buildings and gardens.
58 (stretch) 7.8 kilometers north-south through the heart of Beijing, the Axis consists of 15 components, with the Bell and Drum Towers at 59 (it) northern end and Yongdingmen Gate at the southern end. Construction of the Axis began in the 13th century and took shape in the 16th century. It 60 (undergo) constant refinement over the past seven centuries and continues to influence Beijing’s urban development to this day.
Traditional Chinese philosophical 61 (concept) of “zhong” (centrality) and “he” (harmony) are represented in the design of the Beijing Central Axis. For example, to emphasize the significance of imperial authority, the royal palace was placed in the central position while other key structures were 62 (skillful) arranged.
Beijing was not the first city 63 (use) a central axis. During the Three Kingdoms period (220-280), the city Yecheng had a street running from the east to the west. It separated the royal palaces from common people’s living and business areas. In Chang’an, the capital 64 the Tang Dynasty (618-907), there was a wide street from the north to the south, making the city symmetrical.
The central axis is more than 65 material relic. It is also a continuation of the traditional Chinese city layout concept.

Walking down the busy streets of Los Angeles with my two kids, I saw a small shop with a fun sign that said “Toy Swap (交换).” When we got close to the entrance, I noticed a white wooden rocking horse (木制摇马) near the door. It looked just like the one my grandfather had bought for me when I was young. Feeling both nostalgic (怀旧的) and curious, I walked into the shop, wanting to take a better look.
As soon as we went inside, my children pulled me in different directions, excited. Their eyes sparkled when they saw the shelves full of toys. They stopped in front of a big LEGO set. “Mom, can we buy this?” they begged with eager eyes. I smiled and let them pick their toy. Then, I led them back to where the white rocking horse was.
Looking at the rocking horse brought back a flood of memories. When I was a kid, my parents were often busy, and my grandmother died early. So, my grandfather was always with me. He brought so much joy and care to my life. One day, he brought home a beautiful white rocking horse and called it my “dream horse.” I spent hours riding it, imagining all kinds of adventures while he watched, smiling. “Remember when you accidentally scratched (刮擦) its neck?” my mom once told me. “Your grandfather just laughed and said it gave the horse character.” That little scratch became a special memory, part of our story.
As I got older, those happy times with him were like precious treasures in my heart. His kind smile, his laughter, and his love made me feel safe, even in a busy and sometimes scary world. But when I was in high school, my grandfather passed away. Soon after, we moved. With so much to pack and not enough space, we had to sell some big things, like my favorite rocking horse. Letting it go felt like losing a part of my childhood.

第四部分 写作(满分40分)
第一节 应用文写作(满分15分)
Dear Friends,
How time flies! As your one-week cultural exchange activity draws to a close, let’s look back on the wonderful moments. We shared traditional Chinese culture with you and learned about British culture through your lively presentations. The campus tours and joint games also brought us closer. Now, as you return, we sincerely hope our friendship will remain strong. May you have a pleasant journey home, and we eagerly expect your next visit!
Thank you.
第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
Paragraph 1
Suddenly, I was back in the present, standing in that small shop. I stared at the white rocking horse, examining it closely. To my astonishment, there was a small scratch on its neck, just like the one on my childhood rocking horse. My heart raced. Could it be the very same one? I asked the shop owner about its origin. She told me that an old man had brought it in years ago when he was downsizing. The description of the old man matched my grandfather perfectly. It was fate that had brought this special toy back into my life.
Paragraph 2
With tears in my eyes, I bought the rocking horse. I carried it out of the shop carefully, as if it were the most precious thing in the world. My kids looked at me, puzzled but excited. When we got home, I placed the rocking horse in the living room. I sat my kids on it and told them the story of my grandfather and this magical horse. As they rocked back and forth, I felt like my grandfather’s love was surrounding us once again. The rocking horse, a symbol of my past, now became a part of my children’s childhood, connecting generations with its warm memories.

第一节(共 15小题;每小题 2.5分,满分 37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C和 D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Millions of travelers make it to Marrakech each year, but not enough spare time to explore the
rest of the country — Morocco. This tour is a classic loop of the highlights, including saffron-scented
medinas, mountain villages, giant sand dunes and fortified fishing towns.
Yves Saint Laurent’s Marrakech
The French-Algerian fashion designer’s impact on Marrakech — and the city’s influence on him
— was significant, and this mutual appreciation continues thanks to the Jardin Majorelle and Musée
Yves Saint Laurent. The latter, a striking museum, focuses on the designer’s fashions and how he was
influenced by Morocco.
Ouirgane Valley
Juniper, olive and walnut trees fill the dips and curves of Ouirgane in the High Atlas. It’s one of
several valleys ideal for gentle foothill hikes, but receives far fewer visitors than most as it’s off the
Marrakech day-trip circuit.
Aït Benhaddou
In the early 1960s, location scouts (侦察员) for the film Lawrence of Arabia saw the magic in
this rammed-earth ksar. Its starring role in the movie — and many other big-and small-screen outings
since, including Game of Thrones — has made it a highlight of the drive to the Sahara. In recent
years, locals have invited artists to set up galleries inside the fortified village’s abandoned houses.
Erg Chebbi
Riding a camel through the sands of the Sahara is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The most
accessible tours run from the village of Merzouga to Erg Chebbi — where the dunes rise to 160
metres and stretch for 17 miles — but even then it takes around nine hours by car from Marrakech to
reach them.
21. Which of the following is quite suitable for a walking tour?
A. Yves Saint Laurent’s Marrakech. B. Ouirgane Valley.
C. Aït Benhaddou. D. Erg Chebbi.
22. What makes Aït Benhaddou a highlight on the way to the Sahara?
A. Art galleries in old houses. B. Earthen architecture style.
C. Its special geographic location. D. Its appearances in various films.
23. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Tourism resource development. B. Travel experience presentation.
C. The Morocco classic tour loop. D. The Marrakech day-trip circuit.
B
When I order food for delivery, I often play a little game, wondering how many sets of cutlery
(餐具) the restaurant will include with my meal. More often than not, restaurants go overboard. They
throw in two, three, or even four sets, even though I rarely need any. This extra cutlery either ends up
in the trash or collecting dust in a kitchen drawer, which is such a waste.
三诊·英语 第 4 页 共 10 页
Chinese tech giant Alibaba and its researchers came up with a simple solution to this common
problem. Instead of mindlessly handing out cutlery, they made a change to their food-delivery app. In
select cities in China, customers now have to choose how many sets of cutlery they actually want
from the restaurant. And guess what? The default (默认) option is set to zero. The results, published
in the journal Science, were astonishing. There was a whopping 648% increase in the number of
orders with no cutlery requested. If this approach were rolled out across China, researchers estimated
that it could save nearly 22 billion sets of plastic cutlery and reduce 3.26 million metric tons of
plastic waste.
This study really opened my eyes. It shows that there are so many low-hanging fruits in our
economy that can help cut waste and emissions. For Alibaba, this “nudge” to customers cost them
nothing more than a few hours of software engineering time. But the impact? It was huge.
The concept of “nudging” is fascinating. Nudge theory suggests that small, subtle signals can
encourage people to do the right thing. There’s no need for strict policies that limit choices or
economic punishments. For example, a restaurant could list healthy options at the top of the menu to
nudge customers towards making healthier choices.
Some might see this study as just another example of putting the onus (责任) on consumers for
environmental issues, similar to the plastic straw debate. But I look at it differently. In the absence of
comprehensive environmental policies, companies like Alibaba can play a crucial role in driving
widespread changes in consumer behavior.

This weekend, I sowed the first seeds of the season—five varieties of tomato. I’m not one for
sowing seeds early, but tomatoes need every day of the growing season to offer up the best possible
harvest.
三诊·英语 第 5 页 共 10 页
Gardeners and growers are well versed (精通的) in the nature of change. However, despite what
plants have taught me about living and working with forces beyond my control, I frequently
experience climate anxiety. All it takes is a few days of unexpectedly changeable weather for panic to
rise up in my throat. Yet, it is through working with plants that I’ve found a way of dealing with this
particular anxiety—to pay even more attention to the wonder of the natural world instead of choosing
to turn away. And right now, as winter gives way to spring, is the ideal time to start a practice of
noticing.
On the days I spend with my crops, I resist the urge to dive straight into all there is to do; instead,
I first stop to observe what’s new and what’s changed. I’m hungrily searching for green shoots and
swelling buds (花蕾). I’m drinking in all the signs of new life that remind me that spring has always
come and will in all likelihood be beautiful. When anxious headlines make me feel powerless and
want to disengage, I develop my sense of essential connection with the natural world. This simply
feels more possible in spring.
Despite the very real challenges and dangers we face in this time of climate crisis, the natural
world insists on showing us what flexibility and optimism look like and it’s our responsibility to take
note and follow suit.
As I write these words, I have a blanket on my knees and the window open to allow a silver of
the cool breeze to blow in. The world feels fresh and lively and is full of new energy. I trust that the
plants I grow this season will thrive. And I know that spring, hopefully one that’s overflowing with
blossom, is already on its way.

Recently, AI-generated art is worrying to some artists, who wonder whether they’ll be replaced
by this technology. Meanwhile, others consider AI creations as little more than high-tech copying. A
mass of AI tools have become available to the general public. The most accessible ones only require
inputting a few words to create original images, which has resulted in a wave of surreal memes (表情
包). However, when a work of art made with AI controversially won an art prize in Colorado, many
realized that the technology has more to offer than just memes.
A digital artist experimenting with AI is Zzai, who was born in Guangxi, China. While browsing
through Zzai’s attractive creations, few might guess that the artist has been experimenting with AI for
only half a year. “In May I started following some bloggers on Xiaohongshu and I was really inspired
by their creations, so I started learning,” says the artist. Based on an AI image generator called
Midjourney, Zzai creates visionary images that blend (融合 ) cyberpunk with Chinese culture and
history. The artist’s series Cyber Peking Opera attempts to answer the question, “When we enter the
metaverse (虚拟现实空间), what will traditional art come to?” and explores the relationship between
tradition and technology while also processing culture by way of digitization.
“The rise of AI technology is an irreversible trend,” adds Zzai. “Its scale and spread will only
increase when the physical world and virtual reality are blended.” While generating AI artwork often
takes no more than a minute, the preparatory work is time-consuming. Artists need to familiarize
themselves with different software and put together strings of text to produce the desired results.
Zzai is using his eye-catching creations to combat negative stereotypes of AI-generated art.
“Opinions are very polarized. Some are supportive of this technology, but many are resistant to
change,” he says. “AI is worthy of our imagination, and my projects make use of this technology to
make bold attempts at creation.” Through his work, Zzai demonstrates that AI is not just a tool for
replication but a medium for bold, innovative expression, offering new ways to reimagine and
preserve cultural heritage in the digital age.
A. Cautious. B. Critical. C. Confident. D. Uncertain.

The 7-38-55 rule, developed by Albert Mehrabian in 1971, shows that only 7% of meaning is
communicated through words, while 38% through tone of voice and 55% through body language.
36 Here are some tips for applying the 7-38-55 rule in a negotiation (谈判) context:
37 Your body language is much more important than what you’re actually saying. If
your counterpart’s body language indicates that they are about to lose their bearings, speak calmly
and plainly, slowing the pace of the negotiation.
Look for differences between spoken words and nonverbal behaviors. When you’re at the
negotiating table, pay attention to how your counterpart speaks and acts. 38 It’s also
important that you make sure your own nonverbal messages are in line with what you are saying. If
your facial expressions are pained and you’re keeping your contact, you are communicating your
uncertainty to your counterpart no matter what you’re saying.
Learn to use different vocal tones. Mastering the use of your voice can help you become a better
negotiator by improving the delivery of your debates. In the negotiating room, there are three main
tones of voice: competitive, compromising, and accommodating. 39
40 Tap into your listening skills, assess how your counterpart is feeling, and change your
nonverbal communication in response. When debating the main points in a negotiation, you should
try to change your nonverbal behaviors based on the messages you are receiving from your
counterpart. Even if your arguments themselves don’t change, changing your nonverbal messaging
can be effective.
G. Do what they’re saying matches the way they’re carrying themselves?

rocking horse (木制摇马) near the door. It looked just like the one my grandfather had bought for me
when I was young. Feeling both nostalgic (怀旧的) and curious, I walked into the shop, wanting to
take a better look.
As soon as we went inside, my children pulled me in different directions, excited. Their eyes
sparkled when they saw the shelves full of toys. They stopped in front of a big LEGO set. “Mom, can
we buy this?” they begged with eager eyes. I smiled and let them pick their toy. Then, I led them
back to where the white rocking horse was.
Looking at the rocking horse brought back a flood of memories. When I was a kid, my parents
were often busy, and my grandmother died early. So, my grandfather was always with me. He
brought so much joy and care to my life. One day, he brought home a beautiful white rocking horse
and called it my “dream horse.” I spent hours riding it, imagining all kinds of adventures while he
watched, smiling. “Remember when you accidentally scratched (刮擦) its neck?” my mom once told
me. “Your grandfather just laughed and said it gave the horse character.” That little scratch became a
special memory, part of our story.
As I got older, those happy times with him were like precious treasures in my heart. His kind
smile, his laughter, and his love made me feel safe, even in a busy and sometimes scary world.
But when I was in high school, my grandfather passed away. Soon after, we moved. With so much
to pack and not enough space, we had to sell some big things, like my favorite rocking horse.
Letting it go felt like losing a part of my childhood.
