The line came and passed without mistakes, and I was very proud of myself.
In fourth grade, I joined a theatre group and worked with about five other girls to create what could be described as the worst play in the world; I swear (发誓) it was that terrible. The play was about a group of girls who were having a sleepover and were transported into a television, and I can remember being jealous of the girl who got to play the attractive girl of the group while I was the reserved bookworm. Looking back upon it, I’m glad that I had this experience, because it helped me to learn that in the theatre world, you’re not always going to get the part that you think you deserve. You can’t let that disappointment distract you from doing your best with the role you were given.
Theatre changed my life because it helped me to learn that it’s okay to be different. My theatre teacher rolled around on the ground the first day of class, and it was joyful. We all had to sing a few verses of a song, whether we were good or bad singers, and let me tell you, I am a horrific singer .Nevertheless, I got up in front of my whole class and belted out “Part of Your World, ” unashamed, because theatre creates an environment in which everyone feels accepted.

A brief demonstration of the new eyeglasses described its translation ability, but did not provide additional details. The new device is one of several products shared at the conference that are currently in development. The company says the products aim to better connect Google services with activities happening in the real world. No civilization is complete without legends about outer space. Our need to challenge the limits of what we know has made humans try to discover new worlds. However, outer space exploration can’t be carried out without heavy investments (投资), which can sometimes become a burden for any country or institution. But this could be about to change.
Blue Origin, the space exploration company founded by American Jeff Bezos, made history on Nov23, 2015. It successfully launched a rocket to the edge of space and brought it back to Earth for a safe landing. The rocket, named New Shepard, may very well be the first successful reusable rocket in space flight history. The next step is to prove it can fly again, making sure it is indeed reusable.
“We’re getting closer to a new era of space tourism,” commented a US magazine. Reusable rockets will help companies such as Blue Origin to achieve “a cost-saving means” of transporting humans into space and back, said the magazine.
Previously, whenever a rocket had been sent into orbit, it had always been destroyed or lost in the process. Even the space shuttle, which returned to the ground undamaged and on its own power, was only partly reusable. This problem has made a single launch mission extremely expensive. A completely reusable system will make space travel more affordable and sustainable
Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX in private space exploration, called the idea of a reusable system“the breakthrough needed to completely change access to space”.
According to an article in The Atlantic magazine, New Shepard’ s success has ended “a private space race” between Bezos and Musk. However, according to Emily Calandrelli, host and producer of Exploration Outer Space on Fox, it is not completely fair “to compare the two companies’ achievements to date” because “their successes could be considered separate unique milestones on two different paths”. Blue Origin is aiming to sell directly to buyers(wealthy space tourists) while SpaceX is aiming to sell to large companies and the government (NASA, the Air Force). These two ideas require very different rockets.
12. Why is outer space exploration difficult to achieve according to the text?
A. There are no legends about it. B. It needs a lot of money.
C. There are no good rockets. D. Humans don’t have the technology
13. Compared with the past, what does reusable rockets enable companies like Blue Origin to achieve?
A. A newer means of running a business. B. A safer landing back to Earth.
C A smaller investment to make profits. D. A less competition with other companies.
14. What did Emily Calandrelli mean about the two companies in the last paragraph?
A. They have the same goals. B. They are similar in technologies.
C. They haven’t ended their space race. D. They have different target customers.
15. What can be the best title of the text?
A. The New Form of Space Travel
B. The Rise of Private Space Exploration Companies
C. Comparing Achievements in Private Space Exploration
D. The First Successful Reusable Rocket in Space Flight History

For those students in city, the road to school might mean the convenience of their dad’s cars, where the heater keeps them comfortable and the radio plays music. But for Tom, who lived in a remote village, it meant a dangerous journey through strong winds and piles of snow.
It was a cold morning. The snow blanketed every rooftop and weighed on the branches of big trees. Tom woke up early, with the howling wind outside his small cabin (小木屋). He put on lots of clothes, including his thickest wool socks and warmest coat. As he was about to go, there was a knock on the door. It’s his classmate Peter in the same village. “Hey, Tom,” Peter said. “Do you think we should go to school today?” “I know it’s tough,” Tom replied, looking at the heavy snow outside, “but missing school means we’ll fall behind.” Finally, they decided to go to school.
The snow had been falling for days, building up on the narrow path that led to school. Tom and Peter stepped out into the snowstorm, with boots sinking deep into the snow. Tom used his arms to push the snow away, and his heart was pounding as he worked hard. He fell down a few times, but each time he got up again. “I must go to school!” Tom said firmly. Thinking about the other kids in the village who insisted on going to school, he knew they were facing the same challenge. But they were all trying to learn and grow.
The wind had blown snow all over the path, making it hard to see where they were going. Not far away, Tom heard someone crying from behind a tree. “Peter, do you hear that?” Tom asked in a puzzled tone. “Let’s go and have a look.” Peter answered.

C. A smaller investment to make profits. D. A less competition with other companies.
14. What did Emily Calandrelli mean about the two companies in the last paragraph?
A. They have the same goals. B. They are similar in technologies.
C. They haven’t ended their space race. D. They have different target customers.
15. What can be the best title of the text?
A. The New Form of Space Travel
B. The Rise of Private Space Exploration Companies
C. Comparing Achievements in Private Space Exploration
D. The First Successful Reusable Rocket in Space Flight History
B 13. C 14. D 15. D
根据第一段“However, outer-space exploration can't be carried out without heavy investments (投资), which can sometimes become a burden for any country or institution. (然而,外层空间的探索离不开大量的投资,这有时会成为任何国家或机构的负担。)”可知,太空探索难以实现是因为需要大量资金投入,这有时对任何国家或机构都是负担。故选B项。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Reusable rockets will help companies such as Blue Origin to achieve“a cost-saving means” of transporting humans into space and back, said the magazine. (该杂志称,可重复使用的火箭将帮助蓝色起源等公司实现将人类运送到太空和返回的“节省成本的手段”。)”可知,可重复使用的火箭能帮助像 Blue Origin 这样的公司实现一种节省成本的将人类送入太空并返回的方式,也就是以较小投资获取利润。故选C项。
14题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Blue Origin is aiming to sell directly to buyers(wealthy space tourists) while SpaceX is aiming to sell to large companies and the government(NASA, the Air Force). These two ideas require very different rockets.

After a long journey, they finally arrived at the school gate.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
As they got closer, they spotted that it was their classmate, Sarah. She huddled against a tree, struggling to keep warm, obviously injuring her ankle. Without hesitation, Tom helped her up cautiously. But the ground was so slippery that he stumbled and nearly fell to the ground. Tom and Peter took turns to carry Sarah on their backs. Overwhelmed with heartfelt gratitude, she couldn’t utter a word. Exhausted as they were, they didn’t stop. The snow grew heavier, but with friends by their sides, all of them felt something warm inside.
After a long journey, they finally arrived at the school gate. The snow glistened in the light as they walked into the warm classroom, where their classmates and teacher were waiting for them anxiously. The teacher gave them a thumbs up and Sarah said, “I couldn’t thank you enough.” Touched deeply, the class burst into thunderous applause with smiles and cheers.
