If you ask me what my favorite sport is, my answer will be swimming. I started learning how to swim when I was five years old and I have been swimming ever since.
There are many reasons why I love swimming but I’ll just share a few with you. Maybe I can even encourage you to go for a swim.
The first reason is that swimming can be extremely relaxing. I love the feeling of floating on the water and feeling almost weightless. I find that whenever I leave the pool I feel very refreshed.
Another reason is that swimming can be a fast-paced competitive sport which raises your heartbeat. It’s so good pushing yourself to the challenge (挑战) of beating someone else to the finish line and it’s great fun racing across the pool as fast as you can! Trying little tricks like underwater handstands also puts a big smile on my face.
The third reason why I love swimming is that it is more interesting than other sports. Swimming offers many different strokes (姿势), so you won’t feel you’re doing the same thing over and over again. Adding swimming equipment changes the swimming experience and can help you develop your swimming techniques.
In summer, swimming provides a nice, refreshing break! There’s nothing better than jumping into the water on a sweltering summer day. The pool makes you feel better immediately. And I think it adds to the summer holiday feeling, as for me the good summer months are when I swim the most. It is a sport which can be done all over the world in many beautiful places. You can choose to swim in a swimming pool or enjoy it in the sea.
And finally, it’s a life skill which everyone should have. Not only is it good for your health, but you never know when you’ll need your ability to swim.

A.less interesting B.more competitive
C.less important D.more healthful
3.The underlined word “sweltering” in Paragraph 6 is closest in meaning to ________.

4.According to the last paragraph, someday you might use your swimming skill to ________.
A.maintain your own position B.maintain your own health
C.save your own time D.save your own life
5.What is the best title of this passage?
A.Swimming and Health B.Techniques of swimming
C.Advantages of Swimming D.Swimming and Other sports
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.C 4.D 5.C
根据第三段中“The first reason is that swimming can be extremely relaxing.
根据第五段中“The third reason why I love swimming is that it is more interesting than other sports. 故选A。
根据倒数第二段中“In summer, swimming provides a nice, refreshing break! There’s nothing better than jumping into the water on a sweltering summer day.
根据最后一段“And finally, it’s a life skill which everyone should have. Not only is it good for your health, but you never know when you’ll need your ability to swim.
根据第二段中“There are many reasons why I love swimming but I’ll just share a few with you.
