That’s not the point B. I beg to differ C. I feel the same way D. I can’t agree more 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查情景交际。 That’s not the point这不是重点;B. I beg to differ恕我不敢苟同;C. I feel the same way我也有同样的感觉;D. I can’t agree more再同意不过了。根据答语“Don’t you think the violence in it goes too far?” 【点睛】情景交际的难度较大,除了解个选项的意思外,抓住答语的暗示也很重要,例如本题,根据答语“Don’t you think the violence in it goes too far?” 2. The athlete, ________ by the coach repeatedly for his carelessness in training, finally decided to focus on improving his weak points. A. having been criticized B. being criticized C. criticized D. to have been criticized 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词。 A。 3. There are some characters ________ in Jane Austen’s books in ________ lives a slight fall of snow is an event. A. found; her B. to find; whom C. found; whose D. finding; their 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词和定语从句。 C。 4. Since last month, George, along with some of his former classmates, _______ to have a 20-year gathering during this summer holiday. A. have desired B. desired C. have been desiring D. has been desiring 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查时态和主谓一致。 根据Since last month可知,这个愿望从上个月就有,再由during this summer holiday. D。 5. It was her dedication to helping others ______ impressed everyone at the event. A. who B. whom C. that D. which 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查强调句型。 去掉it was和空处句子依然完整,故此处考查强调句;强调句结构为:It is/was+被强调部分+that/who+其他部分,当被强调部分是人时,可用who或that;被强调部分是物或情况时,只能用that,本句中强调句子的主语her dedication to helping others。故选C。 6. The movie is boring. By the time the movie ended, I______ asleep. A. have fallen B. have been fallen C. had fallen D. had been fallen 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查过去完成时。 7. We hoped that by the end of the year we _______ the job. A. had finished B. finished C. would have finished D. will finish 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查时态。 8. She is the only one of those who ________a winner of the scholarship for three years. A. is B. are C. have been D. has been 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查现在完成时和主谓一致。 D。 9. People sit uncomfortably on plastic chairs, looking through old magazines, ________ have been read hundreds of times previously. A. all of whom B. each of whom C. all of which D. each of which 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查定语从句和主谓一致。 根据后面的have可知,这里应用all of which引导,all指代magazines,为复数。故选C。 10. People are _______ the use of alternative energy sources because the rate _______ we are now consuming fuels like gas and oil is shocking and they may run out one day. A. wrestling with; by which B. pushing for; at which C. catching up on; at which D. calling on; on which 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查动词短语和定语从句。 A. wrestling with努力解决、与……搏斗;B. pushing for极力主张、奋力争取;C. catching up on赶做、弥补;D. calling on号召、拜访。根据“the rate we are now consuming fuels like gas and oil is shocking and they may run out one day”可推知,因为燃料消耗速度快且可能耗尽,所以人们应该是“极力主张”使用替代能源,第1空用动词短语pushing for的现在分词形式构成现在进行时态;第2空处“ we are now consuming fuels like gas and oil”是限制性定语从句,修饰先行词the rate,根据句意,表示“以这种速度”,用“介词at+关系代词which”引导定语从句。故选B项。 11. When left from the planes’ exits passage, we still could hear their loud and clear songs through the glasses. It was amazing that they lifted our spirits and cheered us up after our stupidly long and awful journey. These seagulls welcomed my Chinese people into their home with open wings and if they could speak instead of merely squawk(鸟叫), I’m sure we would’ve struck up some bright and harmonious relationship. They liked to hover(盘旋) overhead around with childlike greetings they sang or just simply walk fearlessly close to our feet. Some of us saved bread our host family prepared in the lunchboxes for these friends. And lovely, we would like to share what we have for the rest of eternity(永恒). But Julie, the mother of my host family, who then I stayed with, does not think so. Strangely as well, she could not give any reasons. The closed and squawk-proof double-glazing explains. Perhaps she prefers to sleep with her windows open but she always fails to do that, because those birds seemed to like staying up till next morning, wholly screaming for her on and on. And they decide to keep doing so every single night. Furthermore, every time she has to wash the marble floor of the gardens, Julie would look up around and swear to the droppings(鸟粪) shortly followed by a smile on her face towards me and said: “They are friendly to you.” But stop thinking that she hates the creatures and never plans to have a change. Because there is another side to her evident feelings towards the birds. We will do some shopping at weekends and every time there Julie doesn’t forget to put a big bag of wild birdseed(鸟食) into her carriage which costs quite more than milks or juices for one week. I can see what it goes for since she refills the wild bird feeder(喂食器) before a big hurry to drive to work every morning and when working she knows what is happening back at home — seagulls are enjoying the seed and leaving for next morning. I’m leaving soon and not likely, I guess, though I hope not, to get back to see my friends here in England in the future. I said I would miss all friends living here including the seagulls. And when Julie was refilling the feeder again, she said: “They’re nice but they are not my friends.” 46. According to the first paragraph, we can know that _____. A. they felt disappointed at not being welcomed by any local people as they landed B. they felt surprised to find seagulls there shortly after they landed C. they didn’t like to be welcomed by the seagulls because they were noisy and stupid D. those birds were more energetic and friendly than the local people 47 What does “squawk-proof double-glazing” underlined in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. a shotgun used for fowling(捕鸟) B. a cage used for keeping birds C. birdseed used to feed the seagulls D. a window used to keep noise out 48. Julie said the seagulls were nice but not her friends for the following reasons EXCEPT that _____. A. the seagulls disturbed her every night B. the seagulls dirtied her garden C. the birdseeds were not cheap D. the seagulls were friendly to her guests 49. What’s the best title for this passage? A. Birds Can Welcome B. Birds in London C. Bite the Hand that Feed You D. Feed What You Want to Kill 50. The passage is most possibly taken from _____. A. a magazine about birds B. a book about London C. an advertisement attracting visitors to London D. a magazine about travelling 【答案】46. B 47. D 48. C 49. D 50. 根据第一段中的“When left from the planes’ exits passage, we still could hear their loud and clear songs through the glasses. It was amazing that they lifted our spirits and cheered us up”可知,他们一着陆就惊讶地发现那里有海鸥,故B项正确。 根据画线词后的“Perhaps she prefers to sleep with her windows open but she always fails to do that, because those birds seemed to like staying up till next morning, wholly screaming for her on and on.” 根据第三段中的“Perhaps she prefers to sleep with her windows open but she always fails to do that, because those birds seemed to like staying up till next morning, wholly screaming for her on and on.”及“Furthermore, every time she has to wash the marble floor of the gardens, Julie would look up around and swear to the droppings(鸟粪) shortly followed by a smile on her face towards me and said: “They are friendly to you.”” 根据文章内容,特别是倒数第二段中的“Because there is another side to her evident feelings towards the birds.” 【点睛】文章标题形式的主旨大意题难度较大,被选选项要具有高度的概括性,例如本篇第4题,通读全文,特别是根据倒数第二段中的“Because there is another side to her evident feelings towards the birds.” C A federal judge in California has dismissed a lawsuit against the Coca-Cola company which argued that Diet Coke misled people to believe the drink would help them lose weight. The case was brought by Shana Becerra who said that she had bought and drank Diet Coke because she believed it would contribute to weight loss and healthy weight management. She alleged that Diet Coke had the opposite effect, citing studies that she claimed showed sweeteners with no nutritional value like those used in Diet Coke caused weight gain and increased risk of certain diseases. Although Coca-Cola’s arguments against the suit were not adequate, Judge William Alsup said the prosecutor (检察官) failed to show that consumers were likely to be deceived by the advertising. Alsup dismissed the case because Becerra had not met the requirement that “members of the public are likely to be deceived”. “In supermarkets, Diet Coke is displayed next to regular soft drinks and is not sold in the health-food section. Reasonable consumers would understand that Diet Coke merely deletes the calories usually present in regular Coke, and that the caloric reduction will lead to weight loss only as part of an overall sensible diet and exercise regimen (养生法) dependent on individual metabolism (新陈代谢),” Alsup said in the decision. Alsup said the studies cited by Becerra suggest a connection between Diet Coke-type drinks and weight gain, but they do not suggest causation. He added that one of the studies even says that weight gain is “due to the behavior of consumers, rather than the effects of non-nutritive sweeteners.” Alsup also rejected the idea that Diet Coke advertising would suggest advertising will feature healthy and attractive consumers enjoying the subject products and will not star the unhealthy and unfit.” The decision on Tuesday, said that the prosecutor has until March 22 to file a motion to amend the complaint. A spokesperson for the Coca-Cola company said they were content with the fact that the court dismissed prosecutor baseless complaint. 51. What was the lawsuit against? A. One of Coca-Cola’s drinks made people think it would make them thinner. B. The Coca-Cola company misled people to believe the safety of its products. C. The advertisements exaggerated the health effects of Diet Coke. D. The judge discriminated the consumers in favor of the Coco-Cola company. 52. What are the side effects of sweeteners? A. They stimulate people’s spirits and make them energetic. B. They increase people’s weight and the potential possibility of getting sick. C. They provide nutritious refreshment for fat consumers. D. They add a nice touch to the soft drinks and make them popular. 53. Why did Judge William Alsup dismiss the charge? A. Because the prosecutor couldn’t provide solid evidence to support her lawsuit. B. Because the Coca-Cola company didn’t do anything wrong. C. Because he was reasonable enough to know the effects of soft drinks. D. Because the consumer made no sense in this lawsuit. 54. According to Alsup, how can people lose weight with Diet Coke? A. They should reduce the calories they take in. B. They should replace the regular Coca with Diet Coke. C. They should reduce their drinking of Diet Coke. D. They should pay attention to their diet and do exercise. 55. What was the Coca-Cola company’s attitude towards the Judge’s decision? A. Angry. B. Regretful. C. Pleased. D. Shameful. 51. A 52. B 53. A 54. D 55. A federal judge in California has dismissed a lawsuit against the Coca-Cola company which argued that Diet Coke misled people to believe the drink would help them lose weight.(加州一名联邦法官驳回了针对可口可乐公司的诉讼,该公司称健怡可乐误导人们相信这种饮料可以帮助他们减肥)可知,驳回的诉讼与可口可乐公司的某种瘦身饮料有关。故选A项。 She alleged that Diet Coke had the opposite effect, citing studies that she claimed showed sweeteners with no nutritional value like those used in Diet Coke caused weight gain and increased risk of certain diseases.(她声称健怡可乐有相反的效果,她引用的研究表明,与健怡可乐中使用的甜味剂一样,没有营养价值的甜味剂会导致体重增加,增加患某些疾病的风险)可知,甜味剂会导致肥胖且增加患病可能。 Alsup dismissed the case because Becerra had not met the requirement that “members of the public are likely to be deceived”.(Alsup驳回了这个案子,因为Becerra没有达到“公众可能被欺骗”的要求)和第五段第1句内容:Alsup said the studies cited by Becerra suggest a connection between Diet Coke-type drinks and weight gain, but they do not suggest causation.(Alsup说,Becerra引用的研究表明了健怡可乐类饮料和体重增加之间的联系,但他们没有提出因果关系)可知,诉讼被驳回是因为诉讼证据并不确凿。故选A项。 根据文章第四段第3句内容:“…the caloric reduction will lead to weight loss only as part of an overall sensible diet and exercise regimen dependent on individual metabolism,” Alsup said in the decision.(Alsup在决定中说:“热量的减少只会导致体重减轻,这只是合理饮食和锻炼方案的一部分,具体取决于个人的新陈代谢。”) A spokesperson for the Coca-Cola company said they were content with the fact that the court dismissed prosecutor baseless complaint.(可口可乐公司的一名发言人表示,他们对法院驳回检察官毫无根据的指控感到满意)可知,可口可乐公司对于法官决议表示满意。 询问语气态度的题,选项里常出现的词是:neutral(中立的), sympathetic(同情的), satisfied(满意的), friendly(友好的), enthusiastic(热情的), subjective(主观的), objective(客观的), matter-of-fact(实事求是的), pessimistic(悲观的), optimistic(乐观的), critical(批评的), doubtful(怀疑的), hostile(敌对的), indifferent(冷淡的), disappointed(失望的)。 5. What was the Coca-Cola company’s attitude towards the Judge’s decision? A. Angry. B. Regretful. C. Pleased. D. Shameful. A spokesperson for the Coca-Cola company said they were content with the fact that the court dismissed prosecutor baseless complaint.语句中用到了be content with(对…… D Me : Hello Dad! I’ve an exam today. He : All the best son! I’m getting a strong feeling. You’ll rock it today. May god bless you! Me : Thank you dad. Bye! And I hang up the call. My friend standing beside me chuckles, “Do you do this before every exam?” I answer, “Yes, I feel good and encouraged, and so do they.” It hardly takes a minute to call up your parents, but it gives a lot of confidence and makes their day too. Not calling up parents is indeed a common mistake college students make. For me the most common mistake is treating it like school. When I went to university, most of the people around me came straight from school. They had the thought like children who were being forced to do something. They skipped classes, sat at the back talking during lectures and even didn’t do the reading! They were still in “school” mode, thinking that the point was to get through it with the least effort. For my part, I was there after working in a beer factory for three years. I knew that I had gone to university because I wanted to learn. I wasn’t there because my teachers at school made me go, or my parents made me go, or because my friends were all going. I had chosen to go. I think that this put me in a different mind. I read all the set texts and I went to all the lectures and seminars. Don’t get me wrong. I had fun too, but I was there to learn and I learnt a lot. I enjoyed it and it was rewarding to learn about the authors, their works, the critic's opinions etc. The kids around me thought that reading six novels for a module and going to a lecture for each novel was too much work. They would read one novel, go to the lecture for that one and write their essay on that one book. They thought that they were really clever to work out an easier way of doing it. But they were tricking themselves out of an education! There are other mistakes that may cause future regrets for the college students. A large number of them focus too hard on getting good grades, showing no interest in out-of-class side projects. Some complain that they are too busy because of school. As a matter of fact, they do not seriously treat all the free resources that universities have to offer. 56. The writer begins the passage with a dialogue in order to __________. They lost their learning chances without noticing it. B. They made up excuses for their laziness in learning. C. They often pretended to be working hard at everything. D. A. ask adults to visit museums B. compare some museums and decide which one is the best C. introduce some museums and encourage parents to visit them with their children D. introduce some exhibits and museums to foreigners B Our first welcome to the UK wasn’t from the staff of Heathrow Airport or the coach driver who entered into our lives to take us to our new city and new home for the next three weeks. It was, in fact, the noisy and energetic seagulls(海鸥) full of songs that flew down to us. A. they felt disappointed at not being welcomed by any local people as they landed B. they felt surprised to find seagulls there shortly after they landed C they didn’t like to be welcomed by the seagulls because they were noisy and stupid D. those birds were more energetic and friendly than the local people 47. What does “squawk-proof double-glazing” underlined in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. a shotgun used for fowling(捕鸟) B. a cage used for keeping birds C. birdseed used to feed the seagulls D. a window used to keep noise out 48. A. a magazine about birds B. a book about London C. an advertisement attracting visitors to London D. a magazine about travelling C A federal judge in California has dismissed a lawsuit against the Coca-Cola company which argued that Diet Coke misled people to believe the drink would help them lose weight. A. Angry. B. Regretful. C. Pleased. D. Shameful. D Me : Hello Dad! I’ve an exam today. He : All the best son! I’m getting a strong feeling You’ll rock it today. A. show off his writing skills B. expect his friend to admire him C. lead in the topic naturally D. show he likes making phone calls 57. What do most university students usually do in the opinion of the writer? A. They attend every class for free chatting. B. They show little interest in active learning. C. They avoid reading books all the time. D. They highly praise independent learning. 58. Why did the writer want to go to college? A. Because his parents forced him to. B. Because he learned from his friend. C. Because his teachers asked him to. D. Because he was dying for knowledge. 59. What do the underlined sentences in Paragraph 5 mean? A. They lost their learning chances without noticing it. B. They made up excuses for their laziness in learning. C. They often pretended to be working hard at everything. D. They told lies about what they were doing in college. 60. According to the passage, college students are supposed to __________.
