Landscapes are as green and lovely as everyone says. Literary giants in Dublin. Titanic history in Belfast. A pint and good craic (畅谈) in a traditional pub. The lure of Celtic legends. Best time to visit Ireland Spring: Easter and St. Patrick’s Day draw crowds, but not quite as many as in the summer. It’s a bit easier to navigate popular sites in the bigger cities like Dublin and enjoy wildflower-dotted areas along the western coast. Summer: The peak season brings plenty of events, like the Galway Arts Festival. Cycle a trail like the Great Western Greenway, kayak a blueway, or hike in Conemara National Park. Autumn: October festivals, such as the Cork Jazz Festival and the charming Púca a c Halloween festival in County Meath, start filling the calendar. It’s also a great time to sample the local harvest at farmers markets in towns and villages. Winter: It rarely snows in Ireland, but it rains quite a bit. There are fewer crowds, so winter visitors will feel more of the local atmosphere, especially in the pubs. Christmas is big, with holiday events like Winterval in Waterloo. Know before you go Irish language: Irish and English are the country’s two official languages. Irish (a Gaelic language but not called Gaelic in Ireland) was the country’s first language until the 19th century, when English became dominant. While 40 percent of the population can speak some Irish, it is only spoken daily by about 2 percent of the population, particularly in the Gaeltacht, where place names and road signs are in Irish. Hours: Some restaurants open only three or four days, especially in smaller towns or during low season (October to Easter). Kitchens can close as early as 8 p.m. 21. What is the main advantage of visiting Ireland in spring compared with summer? A. More festivals in spring. B. Fewer tourists at major attractions. C. Warmer weather for outdoor activities. D. Better chances for snow viewing. 22 What can be inferred about the Irish language now? A. Irish is still the dominant. B. Road signs nationwide arc in Irish. C. Most of the population speak it daily. D. English replaced it as the main language. 23. Where is the passage probably taken from? A. Blog entry. B. Tour brochure. C. Travel journal. D. Geography textbook. B 22. D 23. 根据“Best time to visit Ireland”部分中“Spring: Easter and St. Patrick’s Day draw crowds, but not quite as many as in the summer. It’s a bit easier to navigate popular sites in the bigger cities like Dublin and enjoy wildflower-dotted areas along the western coast. (春季:复活节和圣帕特里克节会吸引人群,但人数不如夏季多。在都柏林等大城市的热门景点游览要稍微轻松一些,还能欣赏西海岸野花点缀的地区)”可知,春季虽然也有节日吸引人群,但不如夏季多,在都柏林等大城市的热门景点游览会更轻松。与夏季相比,春季游览爱尔兰的主要优势是热门景点的游客更少。故选B项。 【22题详解】 推理判断题。根据“Know before you go”部分中“Irish (a Gaelic language but not called Gaelic in Ireland) was the country’s first language until the 19th century, when English became dominant. While 40 percent of the population can speak some Irish, it is only spoken daily by about 2 percent of the population, particularly in the Gaeltacht, where place names and road signs are in Irish. B I love books. When I was a child, I carried books everywhere, even to the dinner table and class, much to my teachers’ pleasure. In my pre- digital childhood, audiobooks barely existed in my world. They were only for long car rides or dull chores like cleaning my room while listening to “American Girl” books on CD. With the rise of smartphones, audiobooks have boomed- along with criticisms that “They aren’t real books” and “listening isn’t real reading.” I’ll admit, I used to be on the other side of this issue. I insisted audiobooks “didn’t count” because they allowed passive listening, and I got annoyed with people when they included audiobooks in “books read” lists. But I’ve come around since then, both on a personal and on a societal level. I still believe reading a book and listening to an audiobook are distinct, for they engage different brain processes, each with unique pros and cons. One of my biggest annoyances is spacing out during an audiobook and realizing I have no idea where I stopped paying attention. And I’ll always prefer print books (I dislike ebooks unless unavoidable). Yet I’ve grown to appreciate audiobooks’ special strengths: talented voice actors giving characters distinctive voices, or adding melodies to written lyrics. A perfect example is Cay Elves’ As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride, in which he and other Princess Bride cast members narrate. And it’s an experience no paperback can offer. Sometimes I prefer an audiobook. It’s the only way to read if I’m on a long drive or if I want to multitask. Sometimes I prefer a print book. I love the way books feel in my hands. I love flipping pages, and I love collecting bookmarks. Engage with books however you want. It doesn’t matter whether to buy them, get them from the library, borrow them from friends, or download them online. Don’t we have better uses for our time than to pick apart how other people take in information? 24. The underlined phrase “on the other side” in the second paragraph means that ______. A. “I” disregarded audiobooks as reading B. “I” favored audiobooks over print books C. “I” wasn’t interested in traditional reading D. “I” joined debates on audiobooks actively 25. According to the author, what is a major disadvantage of audiobooks? A. Lacking physical bookmarks. B. Losing track of focus easily. C. Costing more than print books. D. Reshaping original texts through voices. 26. Why does the author mention Cay Elves’ audiobook? A. To highlight the role of voice actor. B. To criticize its poor narration style. C. To demonstrate its unique advantage. D. To emphasize print books’ superiority. 27. What is the author’s current attitude toward audiobooks? A. Objective. B. Indifferent. C. Critical. D. Skeptical. A 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第二段中“I insisted audiobooks “didn’t count” because they allowed passive listening, and I got annoyed with people when they included audiobooks in “books read” lists.(我坚持有声读物“不算数”,因为它们允许被动倾听,当人们把有声读物列入“读书”清单时,我很恼火)”可知,作者过去认为有声书不算真正的阅读,即不把有声书当作阅读。on the other side在此处指作者过去对有声书的否定态度。故选A。 根据第三段中“One of my biggest annoyances is spacing out during an audiobook and realizing I have no idea where I stopped paying attention.(最让我烦恼的是,在听有声读物时走神,然后意识到自己根本不知道从什么时候开始没注意听)”可知,作者认为有声读物的一个主要缺点是容易失去注意力。 根据第三段中“Yet I’ve grown to appreciate audiobooks’ special strengths: talented voice actors giving characters distinctive voices, or adding melodies to written lyrics. A perfect example is Cay Elves’ As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride, in which he and other Princess Bride cast members narrate. 根据第二段中“But I’ve come around since then, both on a personal and on a societal level.(但从那以后,无论是在个人层面还是社会层面,我都改变了看法)”以及第三段中“I still believe reading a book and listening to an audiobook are distinct, for they engage different brain processes, each with unique pros and cons.(我仍然认为读书和听有声读物是有区别的,因为它们涉及不同的大脑过程,各有优缺点)”以及最后一段中“Engage with books however you want. It doesn’t matter whether to buy them, get them from the library, borrow them from friends, or download them online. Don’t we have better uses for our time than to pick apart how other people take in information?(以你想要的方式与书籍互动。无论是购买、从图书馆借阅、从朋友那里借阅还是在线下载,都无关紧要。我们难道没有比挑剔别人如何获取信息更好的利用时间的方式吗?)”可知,作者现在对有声读物的态度是客观的,既看到了有声读物的独特优势,也承认了其与纸质书的不同,并鼓励人们以自己喜欢的方式与书籍互动。故选A。 C Each spring, migrating birds fill the air with their dawn chorus. This phenomenon does more than just signal seasonal change — it offers scientifically proven benefits for our mental well-being. Social psychologist Cindy Franz explains this connection stems from our human wiring — just as we are biologically wired to form social bonds with other people, we possess an inborn capacity to build meaningful connections with nature, including our feathered companions. A growing body of research demonstrates how birdsong serves as a powerful gateway to nature’s restorative (促进康复的) effects. In a comprehensive 2022 study published in Scientific Reports, researchers tracked over 1,300 participants who documented their environment and emotional state multiple times daily for two weeks. The results revealed that encounters with birds, whether visual or auditory (听觉), provided significant boosts to mental well-being that surpassed the benefits of simply being near green spaces or water features. Remarkably, these positive psychological effects persisted for several hours after each bird encounter. Further evidence comes from another 2022 study in the same journal, where researchers exposed 295 participants to different sound environments. Those who listened to six minutes of birdsong through headphones reported measurable reductions in feelings of depression, anxiety and paranoia (妄想症). In contrast, the group subjected to traffic noise experienced the opposite effect. The study yielded another fascinating discovery: the mental health benefits increased substantially when participants heard multiple bird species singing together compared to just two species. This suggests that biodiversity in birdsong may enhance its therapeutic (治疗的) value. While researchers acknowledge potential limitations like participant bias during COVID-19, the consistent findings highlight birdsong’s unique psychological value. Scientists will continue investigating why varied birdsong delivers greater benefits, but evidence clearly shows it offers universal access to nature’s restorative power, whether in cities or countryside. As research progresses, we may gain deeper understanding of how these ancient natural sounds continue to soothe (抚慰) modern minds. 28. What did the 2022 study with 1,300 participants find about bird encounters? A. They signaled seasonal change. B. They provided only visual benefits. C. They discouraged mental wellbeing. D. They greatly improved mental health. 29. What was a key finding of the study comparing birdsong to traffic noise? A. Both reduced anxiety equally. B. Birdsong increased paranoia slightly. C Traffic noise worsened emotional states. D. No significant differences were found. 30. What is likely to be the focus of future research? A. Removing the limitations of current studies. B. Developing more birdsong therapy products. C. Comparing difference between birdsong patterns. D. Exploring why birdsong diversity brings benefits. 31. What can be the best title for the passage? A. Birdsong Benefits Mental Wellbeing B. Birdsong Boosts Psychological Effects C. Birdsong Reduces Anxiety Significantly D. Birdsong Improves Biodiversity Therapy 【答案】28. D 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第二段中“In a comprehensive 2022 study published in Scientific Reports , researchers tracked over 1,300 participants who documented their environment and emotional state multiple times daily for two weeks. The results revealed that encounters with birds, whether visual or auditory (听觉), provided significant boosts to mental wellbeing that surpassed the benefits of simply being near green spaces or water features. (在2022年发表在《科学报告》上的一项全面研究中,研究人员追踪了1300多名参与者,他们每天多次记录他们的环境和情绪状态,持续两周。结果显示,与鸟类的接触,无论是视觉上还是听觉上,都能显著促进心理健康,这比仅仅靠近绿色空间或水景的好处要大得多)”可知,该研究发现与鸟类的接触显著改善心理健康。故选D项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Those who listened to six minutes of birdsong through headphones reported measurable reductions in feelings of depression, anxiety and paranoia (妄想症). In contrast, the group subjected to traffic noise experienced the opposite effect. (那些通过耳机听六分钟鸟鸣的人报告说,抑郁、焦虑和妄想症的感觉明显减少。相比之下,受到交通噪音影响的那一组则经历了相反的效果)”可知,该对比研究的一个关键发现是交通噪音会让情绪状态恶化。故选C项。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Scientists will continue investigating why varied birdsong delivers greater benefits, but evidence clearly shows it offers universal access to nature’s restorative power, whether in cities or countryside. (科学家们将继续研究为什么不同的鸟鸣能带来更大的好处,但证据清楚地表明,无论是在城市还是农村,它都能提供普遍的自然恢复能力)”可知,未来研究可能会探索鸟类鸣叫多样性为何带来益处。故选D项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“Each spring, migrating birds fill the air with their dawn chorus. This phenomenon does more than just signal seasonal change — it offers scientifically proven benefits for our mental wellbeing. (每年春天,候鸟的晨间合唱都会响彻天际。这种现象不仅标志着季节更替——它更能为我们的心理健康带来切实益处)”可知,文章介绍了1300人追踪实验和295人对比实验,两项研究表明鸟类鸣叫对心理健康有持续的积极影响,且多样性鸣叫疗效更佳。因此,A项“鸟类鸣叫有益心理健康”概括了研究的主要发现,最适合作为文章标题。故选A项。 D Loss of slow wave sleep as you age may increase your risk of developing dementia (痴呆), according to a new study. “We found that aging was associated with a decline in the amount of the deepest stages of sleep, known as slow wave sleep,” said Matthew P Pase, senior author of the study published Monday in the journal JAMA Neurology, via email. “We then found that persons with greater declines in slow wave sleep over time had a higher risk of getting dementia over the next 17 years of follow-up,” said Pase via email. Slow wave sleep is the third stage of sleep, which is important for brain health. During this stage, the body removes unwanted or potentially harmful materials from the brain, including beta-amyloid protein (β淀粉样蛋白), a hallmark sign of Alzheimer’s disease. “Results suggest that chronic (慢性的) declines in slow wave sleep, rather than individual differences at any given time, are important for predicting dementia risk,” Pase said. The researchers studied 346 people who were aged 69 on average and had participated in the Framingham Heart Study and completed two overnight sleep studies, one between 1995 to 1998 and the second between 1998 to 2001, during which their sleep was monitored. Launched by the US National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in 1948, the Framingham Heart Study identifies common factors contributing to cardiovascular disease The authors also investigated whether any changes in the amount of slow wave sleep that participants got were associated with developing dementia up to 17 years after they completed the sleep studies. Those who experienced declines in this deep sleep were more likely to have cardiovascular disease, take medications (药物) that affect sleep and carry a gene that makes people more at risk for Alzheimer’s. “This is an important study yet again showing the impact of quality of sleep on a person’s risk of cognitive decline and dementia,” Isaacson said. “It’s important to not only pay attention to the total amount a person is sleeping each night, but also monitor sleep quality as best as possible.” 32. What is the main finding of the new study? A. Aging leads to decrease in sleep time. B. Beta-amyloid protein causes sleep loss. C. Deep sleep declines increase dementia risk. D. Dementia is the cause of sleep decline. 33. What is the function of slow wave sleep mentioned in the text? A. Enhancing memory consolidation. B. Improving cardiovascular health. C. Clearing harmful brain substances. D. Reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s gene. 34. What factor was NOT related to declines in slow wave sleep? A. Cardiovascular disease. B. High-level physical activity. C. Sleep-affecting medications. D. Gene linked to Alzheimer’s risk. 35. What does Isaacson try to emphasize in the last paragraph? A. Sleep amount and quality. B. Sleep-cardiovascular health link. C. Alzheimer’s role in sleep studies. D. Importance of older adults’ sleep research. 32. C 33. C 34. B 35. When your routines are smartly planned, they won’t feel like boring tasks. ____36____ Here are four practical methods to create routines that evolve with you. ●Analyze Your Behavior If there’s something you find hard to do regularly, like changing your bed sheets, start by paying attention to when you actually do it. Even if it doesn’t happen often, think about what made it possible. What things made it easier? ____37____ Don’t try to force yourself to do things that don’t fit your natural habits. ● ____38____ This concept refers to intentionally arranging your environment post-task. A well-prepared after-situation makes it easier to start the routine next time. For example, after weekly laundry, leave a visible cup of soap in the bathroom. This visual signal spares preparation steps next time, making it ready for you to restart your routine. ●Add Social Fun If you like doing things with others, you can make routines that involve other people. This can help you stick to your routine. You can schedule annual doctor visits with a friend on special dates like your birthday, which combine your yearly health check with meeting a friend. ____39____ ●Change the Order Most habits follow a fixed order, like doing morning exercise before breakfast. But doing things the same way every time can make you bored. ____40____ Hopefully, you might discover renewed motivation by doing yoga before breakfast instead of after. A. Use “After-Situation” Tricks B. Prepare Necessary Tools in Advance C. Instead, they’ll be like helpful friends. D. Following a fixed order improves efficiency. E. It’s an honour to make a speech titled “The Impacts of DeepSeek on Our Learning”. With the development of technology, DeepSeek has become an important part of our learning, bringing both opportunities and challenges. On the one hand, not only does it guide us step by step to find solutions, but also enriches our understanding with diverse sources, thus tailoring explanations to our needs. On the other hand, depending on it too much may weaken our independent and critical thinking. Excessive information might make it difficult for us to stay focused. Personally, I view DeepSeek as a double-edged sword. Only by balancing technology with our own efforts can we truly grow. Thank you for listening! 要求考生以“The Impacts of Deepseek on Our Learning”为主题,写一篇演讲稿,参加演讲比赛。 词汇积累 发表演讲:make a speech→deliver a speech 重要的:important→crucial 机会:opportunity→chance 各种各样的:diverse→various 2. With the development of technology, DeepSeek has become an important part of our learning, bringing both opportunities and challenges. With the development of technology, DeepSeek, which has become an important part of our learning, is bringing both opportunities and challenges. 1】On the one hand, not only does it guide us step by step to find solutions, but also enriches our understanding with diverse sources, thus tailoring explanations to our needs.(运用了not only置于句首引出的部分倒装) 【高分句型2】Only by balancing technology with our own efforts can we truly grow.(运用了Only+状语置于句首引出的部分倒装) 第二节(满分25分) 67. An Encounter in the Rain It was a stormy afternoon, with heavy rain pouring down. I held my umbrella tightly and hurried home from school. As I passed an alley (小巷) corner, a faint crying pierced through the sound of the rain. Curiosity getting the better of me, I approached a pile of cardboard boxes. A tiny, wet-through puppy, trembling in the corner, came into sight. Its right front leg was bleeding, with flies buzzing around the wound. Moldy (发霉的) bread lay scattered beside the boxes. Clearly, it had been struggling here for a long time. I immediately took off my coat and wrapped it around the shaking puppy, hoping to provide some warmth. It looked up at me with its big, watery eyes, filled with fear and a silent plea (乞求) for help. Just as I was about to scoop it up (抱起) and take it home, my neighbor Mrs Smith suddenly appeared from the shadow. “Don’t get involved” she warned, “Stray dogs may carry diseases, and your mom will not allow you to adopt it.” Her words made my heart sink. I knew she was right. Just last year, I once begged my mom to let me keep a hamster (仓鼠), but she firmly refused, stating her concerns including the mess, the time, our health and safety... Looking back at the puppy, I felt torn. Taking the puppy home would undoubtedly lead to a conflict with my mom, but leaving it here meant it might not survive the night. Just then, the puppy gently licked (舔) my hand, as if sensing my hesitation and desperately trying to convince me to save it. The rain poured harder, as I wrestled with my decision. What should I do? At this moment, the weak barking of the puppy helped me make a decision. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As Mom entered, the lovely puppy suddenly limped out from the hiding box, waving its tail to her shyly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 At this moment, the weak barking of the puppy helped me make a decision. “I can’t bear to leave it to suffer and die.” thinking to myself, I scooped up the trembling puppy and dashed home. Once inside, I quickly dried and warmed it with a hairdryer and heated a bowl of milk for it, along with some soft bread. The puppy drank greedily, raising its head from time to time. It was at this moment that the clock struck six and anxiety struck me- Mom would be home soon. I needed to hide it. I found an old cardboard box, making it into a cozy bed and put it on the balcony. “Stay quiet, little guy,” I whispered, patting its head. Just then I heard the key turning in the lock, which made my heart race wildly. As Mom entered, the lovely puppy suddenly limped out from the hiding box, waving its tail to her shyly. Frozen at first, Mom’s serious expression melted as she noticed its wounded leg. Instead of scolding me, Mom told me to fetch the first-aid kit. Surprised but delighted, I sensed a shine of care and love while dealing with the wound carefully together with her. “You’re...helping?” I stammered. “I thought you’d be mad.” Mom smiled and reassured me, “I was just worried about your safety, but you’ve shown me how responsible and caring you can be.” Staring at her with appreciation, I threw my arms around her and hugged her tightly, realizing the storm had brought not just a puppy, but a precious lesson — compassion turns fear into love, and love makes a family warmer than any shelter from the rain. 词汇激活 行为类 ①冲回家:dashed home/ran home quickly ②加热:heated/warmed up ③处理伤口:dealing with the wound/treating the injury 情绪类 ①惊讶的:surprised/astonished ②高兴的:delighted/pleased 【点睛】[高分句型1] It was at this moment that the clock struck six and anxiety struck me — Mom would be home soon. 22. What can be inferred about the Irish language now? A. Irish is still the dominant. B. Road signs nationwide arc in Irish. C. Most of the population speak it daily. D. English replaced it as the main language. 23. Where is the passage probably taken from? A. Blog entry. B. Tour brochure. C. Travel journal. D. Geography textbook. I love flipping pages and I love collecting bookmarks. C. Critical. D. Skeptical. C Each spring, migrating birds fill the air with their dawn chorus. C. Traffic noise worsened emotional states. Birdsong Improves Biodiversity Therapy D Loss of slow wave sleep as you age may increase your risk of developing dementia (痴呆), according to a new study. “Results suggest that chronic (慢性) declines in slow wave sleep, rather than individual differences at any given time, are important for predicting dementia risk,” Pase said. Developing sustainable daily routines requires strategic planning. E. Then, build your routine based on these patterns. F. Try rearranging tasks while keeping the content unchanged. G. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
