Accommodation: The centrally located Visalia Marriott is just 40 minutes from the park gate. Charleston, South Carolina Start your weekend getaway on a historic carriage ride downtown in cold winter. Clip-clop past the city’s churches, see where they stored all the gunpowder back in the 1700s and learn about Charleston’s past. Accommodation: Located in the city's historic heart, the Charleston Place hotel features plush rooms and excellent dining. Keystone, Colorado Ski report website On the Snow rates it the top resort for families, thanks to free parking; ski-in, ski-out lodgings; a kids-ski-free program; and beginner terrain (地形). Accommodation: Keystone Lodge and Spa has cozy mountain-inspired rooms and lofts, a heated outdoor pool and hot tub. Park City, Utah Located just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City, the largest ski resort in the United States is known for its light, dry snow, sunny skies and variety of terrain. Accommodation: Marriott’s Summit Watch is an affordable option located right in Park City, and it offers accessible rooms. 1. What will travelers do in Charleston? A. Walk along giant sequoia trees. B. Ski through snow-covered forests. C. Explore the historic city. D. Swim in a heated outdoor pool. 2. Which destination gives kids a chance to ski for free? A. Sequoia National Park. B. Charleston. C. Keystone. D. Park City. 3. What do the four destinations have in common? A. They are located 40 minutes from the nearby city. B. They are famous national parks in the USA. C. They offer carriage rides at weekends. D. They offer a range of cold-weather fun. C 2. C 3. 根据Charleston, South Carolina部分的“Start your weekend getaway on a historic carriage ride downtown in cold winter. Clip-clop past the city’s churches, see where they stored all the gunpowder back in the 1700s and learn about Charleston’s past.(在寒冷的冬天乘坐历史悠久的马车开始你的周末之旅。咔嗒咔嗒地经过这座城市的教堂,看看他们在18世纪储存火药的地方,了解查尔斯顿的过去。)”可知,游客在Charleston可以探索这座城市的历史。故选C。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据Keystone, Colorado部分的“Ski report website On the Snow rates it the top resort for families, thanks to free parking; ski-in, ski-out lodgings; a kids-ski-free program; and beginner terrain. (滑雪报告网站On the Snow将其评为最适合家庭的度假胜地,这要归功于免费停车;住宿;儿童免费滑雪项目;初学者地形。)”可知,Keystone给孩子一个免费滑雪的机会。故选C。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“Contrary to popular belief, winter is actually a good time to travel. Below, you’ll find recommendations for the best places to visit in winter in the USA.(与普遍的看法相反,冬天实际上是旅行的好时机。下面,你会发现美国冬季最佳旅游景点的推荐。)”可推知,这四个地方的共同之处在于它们提供了一系列寒冷天气的乐趣。故选D。 B I was a volunteer with the city of Milpitas and was studying at Mission College. One night after going to class, I was heading home and decided to stop off at a burrito (墨西哥卷饼) restaurant. I got my burrito and started to head for my car when I was approached by a homeless man. He was very dirty and obviously very hungry. He asked me for some change to buy a little food. As I was pulling some change out, I had an idea. I asked him to follow me back into the burrito restaurant to order. He was ashamed of the way he looked and said he did not want to go in there. But I insisted. When he finally followed me in, the people behind the counter (柜台) refused to let him in, but I told them that I was buying him dinner and he had a right to be there. After we argued over it for a while, they finally gave in. It seemed like he was relieved a bit to be sitting at a table. I asked him to order whatever he wanted. But he only ordered a burrito. For someone who has been on the fringes (边缘) of society, he was very surprised at my generosity. But to me, it was what any “human being” should do or at least offer. You had to be there to see the look in his face. It reminded me when I was young, my mom brought out a big birthday cake for me on my birthday, with all the candy, chocolate and goodies that we were about to eat. I think he felt special, like he was getting attention, something that I could see he hadn’t experienced in a long time. I often think about this story because, to me, it’s not just about helping someone out by feeding them. It’s more about giving them the respect and dignity of being a human being and allowing them to feel good about themselves. 4. Why did the homeless man approach the author? A. To ask for a lift. B. To beg for money. C. To request a burrito. D. To seek company. 5. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 2 refer to? A. Where to sit in the restaurant. B. What to order for the homeless man. C. Whether to buy dinner for the homeless man. D. Whether to allow the homeless man to enter the restaurant. 6. Why does the author mention his birthday in paragraph 3? A. To demonstrate his wonderful childhood. B. To stress the importance of enjoying a feast. C. To contrast his life with that of the homeless man. D. To describe the happy feelings of the homeless man. 7. What does the author suggest doing in the last paragraph? A. Treating others with respect. B. Fighting against the world of hunger. C. Encouraging acts of bravery. D. Paying attention to the homeless. B 5. D 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“He asked me for some change to buy a little food.(他向我要些零钱买点吃的)”可知,无家可归的男子靠近作者是为了乞讨钱。 根据第二段中“When he finally followed me in, the people behind the counter refused to let him in, but I told them that I was buying him dinner and he had a right to be there. After we argued over it for a while, they finally gave in.(当他终于跟着我进来时,柜台后面的人拒绝让他进来,但我告诉他们我要给他买晚餐,他有权待在那里。我们就这件事争论了一会儿后,他们终于让步了)”可知,作者和柜台后面的人争论了一会儿后,他们才同意让流浪汉进入餐馆,“it”指“是否允许流浪汉进入餐馆”。故选D。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“I think he felt special, like he was getting attention, something that I could see he hadn’t experienced in a long time.(我觉得他很特别,就像他得到了关注,我可以看出他已经很久没有这种感觉了)”以及作者提及小时候生日时妈妈准备蛋糕带来的快乐,可知作者是用自己的快乐感受来描述无家可归男子当时的幸福心情。 根据最后一段中“It’s more about giving them the respect and dignity of being a human being and allowing them to feel good about themselves.(更多的是给予他们作为人的尊重和尊严,让他们自我感觉良好)”可知,作者在最后一段建议要尊重他人。故选A。 C Stonehenge is a very famous stone circle located in southern England. For centuries, historians have been extremely confused by it. On Wednesday, researchers brought out new and unexpected information about the six-ton Altar Stone at Stonehenge. For a long time, people believed that the Altar Stone, which lies in the middle of the well-known circle, came from Wales. However, new research shows that it actually came from Scotland, which is hundreds of miles away. This discovery raises new questions about how people transported the stone about 5,000 years ago. According to a study published in the journal Nature on Wednesday, the Altar Stone probably came from the Orcadian Basin in Scotland, at least 466 miles from Stonehenge. Chris Kirkland, one of the experts, said this discovery of where the Altar Stone came from showed there was a high level of cooperation from local people during the Neolithic period. Moving such a huge stone from Scotland to southern England by land would have been extremely challenging. So, it’s likely they used a shipping route along the British coast. Stonehenge is mainly made up of two kinds of stones: sarsen (砂岩) and bluestone. The large sarsen stones mostly came from an area about 16 miles north of the monument. The Altar Stone is considered a bluestone. Studies in the past have shown that most of Stonehenge’s bluestones came from Wales. To find out where the Altar Stone came from, geologists examined its chemical characteristics and analyzed the minerals in the rock. They found that the Altar Stone didn’t match the geology of Welsh rocks. “While we can now say that this iconic rock is Scottish and not Welsh, the research will still very much be on to pin down where exactly in the north-east of Scotland the Altar Stone came from,” study co-author and Aberystwyth University professor Richard Bevins said. English Heritage, the organization that looks after Stonehenge, called this an exciting discovery. They said in a social media post that the more we learn about Stonehenge, the more questions we get. The purpose of Stonehenge is still a puzzle. Some people think it was built for astronomical (天文的) reasons, while others think it was related to human sacrifice (祭祀). 8. What is the second paragraph mainly about? A. The location of the Altar Stone. B. The reason for building the Stonehenge. C. The method of transporting the Altar Stone. D. The discovery of the Altar Stone’s true origin. 9. What played a key part in the move of the stone? A. Teamwork. B. Superpower. C. Leadership. D. Creativity. 10. What does the underlined part “pin down” most probably mean? A. Find out. B. Look down. C. Take on. D. Set off. 11. What can we infer about the purpose of the Stonehenge? A. People think it a mystery forever. B. People will bring it to light soon. C. People hold different views on it. D. People mostly consider it as a kind of sacrifice. D 9. A 10. A 11. 根据第二段“For a long time, people believed that the Altar Stone, which lies in the middle of the well-known circle, came from Wales. However, new research shows that it actually came from Scotland, which is hundreds of miles away. This discovery raises new questions about how people transported the stone about 5,000 years ago. According to a study published in the journal Nature on Wednesday, the Altar Stone probably came from the Orcadian Basin in Scotland, at least 466 miles from Stonehenge.(很长一段时间以来,人们都认为位于这个著名圆圈中间的祭坛石来自威尔士。然而,新的研究表明,它实际上来自数百英里外的苏格兰。这一发现提出了关于5000年前人们如何运输石头的新问题。根据周三发表在《自然》杂志上的一项研究,祭坛石可能来自苏格兰的奥克迪亚盆地,距离巨石阵至少466英里。)”可知,本段主要讨论的是关于祭坛石真正来源的发现。故选D项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Chris Kirkland, one of the experts, said this discovery of where the Altar Stone came from showed there was a high level of cooperation from local people during the Neolithic period.(其中一位专家Chris Kirkland说,祭坛石的来源的发现表明,在新石器时代,当地人进行了高度的合作。)” 故选A项。 划线词句前文“While we can now say that this iconic rock is Scottish and not Welsh(虽然我们现在可以说这块标志性的石头是苏格兰的,而不是威尔士的)”和后文“where exactly in the north-east of Scotland the Altar Stone came from(这块祭坛石在苏格兰东北部的确切位置)”说明尽管现在可以说这块标志性的石头是苏格兰的,研究仍在继续以弄清祭坛石到底是来自苏格兰东北部的什么位置,从而推知划线词句“While we can now say that this iconic rock is Scottish and not Welsh, the research will still very much be on to pin down where exactly in the north-east of Scotland the Altar Stone came from(虽然我们现在可以说这块标志性的石头是苏格兰的,而不是威尔士的,但这项研究仍将继续pin down这块祭坛石在苏格兰东北部的确切位置。)” 故选A项。 根据最后一段中“The purpose of Stonehenge is still a puzzle. Some people think it was built for astronomical (天文的) reasons, while others think it was related to human sacrifice (祭祀).(巨石阵的目的仍然是个谜。一些人认为它是出于天文原因而建造的,而另一些人则认为它与活人祭祀有关。)”可知,人们对巨石阵的用途有不同的看法,一部分人认为它是为天文目的而建,另一部分人认为它与人类祭祀有关。故选C项。 D Killer whales hunt fish with sounds as clicks and buzzes — they choose and chase their prey with sound waves. But a common feature of modern ocean life may be like a salmon’s invisible cloak (隐形斗篷), making the whales’ favorite meal harder to find. What is to blame? Boat traffic noise. Ocean noise has been increasing over the years, and an international research team recently reported in Global Change Biology that when the water got too noisy, whales spent more time looking for food but caught fewer fish. The study tracked every move and sound that individual killer whales made, as well as the sound reaching those whales. This is the first time scientists have linked noise reaching a given killer whale to their foraging (觅食) success, says lead author Jennifer Tennessen. The noise problem is one that Tennessen views as chronic, yet possibly more straightforward to fix than declining fish populations or pollution — ships could simply slow down to make less noise. Fortunately, with the guidance of both governmental and nongovernmental groups, some ship operators are slowing down. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority in Canada reported in 2023 that 87 percent of ships slowed or moved over for southern resident whales in critical habitat, which led to a decrease of 4.2 decibels (分贝) compared to 2019, before slowdowns began. Washington ports and other local authorities join in a program of voluntary slowdowns in Washington waters called Quiet Sound, which offers information on killer whale locations. About 70 percent of ships follow Quiet Sound’s guidelines and voluntarily slow down in killer whale critical habitat. The talk about innovations in propeller (螺旋桨) technology is also positive. A propeller, for example, is based on a design for a quieter drone propeller. If claims of a more efficient and quieter boat propeller are true, that’s good news for both reducing fuel use and quieting traffic. Tennessen says increasing ship noise is a problem in oceans around the world. “We’re finally able to measure the impacts that it’s having on wildlife,” she says, “and we’re finding that the impacts are numerous.” 12. Why does the author mention a salmon’s invisible cloak? A. To introduce the feature of sound waves. B. To describe the environment in whales’ hunting. C. To emphasize the invisibility of salmons’ cloak. D. To demonstrate the characteristic of whales’ hunting. 13. What do the statistics indicate in paragraph 4? A. Noise reduction is ineffective. B. Ship operators ignore guidelines. C. Quiet Sound prioritizes noise monitoring. D. Voluntary slowdowns lead to noise reduction. 14. What is the significance of propeller technology innovations? A. To address noise issues. B. To reduce fuel efficiency. C. To follow Quiet Sound’s guidelines. D. To help measure influences on wildlife. 15. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. Ships Slow Down for Whales. B. Boat Noise Clouds Whale Foraging. C. Killer Whales Battle Noise Pollution. D. Technology Innovations Silence Propellers. B 13. D 14. A 15. 根据第一段中的“But a common feature of modern ocean life may be like a salmon’s invisible cloak (隐形斗篷), making the whales’ favorite meal harder to find. What is to blame? 根据第四段中的“The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority in Canada reported in 2023 that 87 percent of ships slowed or moved over for southern resident whales in critical habitat, which led to a decrease of 4.2 decibels (分贝) compared to 2019, before slowdowns began.(加拿大温哥华弗雷泽港务局在2023年报告说,在关键栖息地内,87%的船只为南部常驻鲸类减速或避让,这导致与2019年开始减速前相比,噪音水平降低了4.2分贝。)” 根据倒数第二段中的“A propeller, for example, is based on a design for a quieter drone propeller. If claims of a more efficient and quieter boat propeller are true, that’s good news for both reducing fuel use and quieting traffic.(例如,一种基于更安静无人机螺旋桨设计的螺旋桨。如果更加高效且更安静的船用螺旋桨的说法属实,这对于减少燃料使用和降低交通噪音都是好消息。)”可知,螺旋桨技术的创新旨在制造更加安静和高效的船用螺旋桨,有助于解决噪音问题,由此可知,螺旋桨技术创新的意义是解决噪音问题。故选A项。 根据首段中的“But a common feature of modern ocean life may be like a salmon’s invisible cloak (隐形斗篷), making the whales’ favorite meal harder to find. What is to blame? Easy Ways to Reduce Your Food Waste Shop smart. Most people tend to buy more food than they need. To avoid buying more food than you need, make frequent trips to the supermarket every few days rather than doing a big shopping trip once a week. ____16____ This will help you reduce impulse buying (冲动消费) and reduce food waste as well. Store food correctly. Improper storage leads to a massive amount of food waste. Many people are unsure how to store fruits and vegetables, which can lead to their eventually going bad. For example, potatoes, tomatoes, and onions should never be refrigerated. ____17____ ____18____ The consumer demand for perfect fruits and vegetables has led major supermarkets to buy only picture-perfect produce from farmers. This leads to tons of perfectly good food going to waste. It’s such a big issue that major supermarkets have started offering “ugly” fruits and vegetables at a discount in an attempt to reduce waste. Pack your lunch. Although going out to lunch with co-workers may be enjoyable, it is also costly and can contribute to food waste. ____19____ If you tend to have unfinished home-cooked meals, pack them up for a satisfying and healthy workday lunch. Understand expiration (到期) dates. “Sell by” and “Best by” are just two of the many confusing terms companies use on food labels to let consumers know when a product will most likely go bad. The truth is, most food that has just passed its expiration date is still safe to eat. “Sell by” is used to inform sellers when the product should be sold or removed from the shelves. ____20____ Neither of these terms means that the product is unsafe to eat after the given date. A. Don’t be a perfectionist. B. Get creative in the kitchen. C. These items should be kept at room temperature. D. “Best by” is a suggested date for consumers to use their products by. E. A helpful way to reduce food waste is to bring lunch to work with you. F. Additionally, try making a list of items that you need to buy and stick to that list. G. Not surprisingly, industrialized countries waste more food than developing nations. F 17. C 18. A 19. E 20. 【16题详解】 前文“To avoid buying more food than you need, make frequent trips to the supermarket every few days rather than doing a big shopping trip once a week. (为了避免买到比你需要的更多的食物,每隔几天就频繁地去一次超市,而不是每周去一次大的购物。)”建议频繁去超市购买食物,而不是进行大采购,后文“This will help you reduce impulse buying (冲动消费) and reduce food waste as well. (这将帮助你减少冲动消费,减少食物浪费。)”指出某种做法的好处,因此F项“Additionally, try making a list of items that you need to buy and stick to that list. (另外,试着把你需要买的东西列一个清单,并严格按照这个清单去做。)”符合语境,同样是购物的建议,指出按照所列清单购物,承接前文,后文是对其评价。故选F。 【17题详解】 前文“For example, potatoes, tomatoes, and onions should never be refrigerated. (例如,土豆、西红柿和洋葱永远不应该冷藏。)”举例说明如何保存食物,指出有些蔬菜不应冷藏,因此C项“These items should be kept at room temperature. (这些物品应在室温下保存。)”符合语境,指出这些蔬菜应室温保存,承接前文,其中的These items指代前文的potatoes, tomatoes, and onions。故选C。 【18题详解】 空处是段落标题,需统领段落内容,且需和其他段落标题一样使用祈使句的形式。根据后文“The consumer demand for perfect fruits and vegetables has led major supermarkets to buy only picture-perfect produce from farmers. This leads to tons of perfectly good food going to waste. (消费者对完美水果和蔬菜的需求导致大型超市只从农民那里购买完美的农产品。这导致大量的好食物被浪费了。)”可知,本段主要指出消费者一味追求完美会造成浪费,因此A项“Don’t be a perfectionist. (不要做一个完美主义者。)”符合语境,建议避免追求完美,契合段落内容,其中的perfectionist和后文的perfect呼应。故选A。 【19题详解】 前文“Although going out to lunch with co-workers may be enjoyable, it is also costly and can contribute to food waste. (虽然和同事出去吃午饭可能会很愉快,但这也很昂贵,而且会造成食物浪费。)”指出和同事外出用午餐容易导致浪费,后文“If you tend to have unfinished home-cooked meals, pack them up for a satisfying and healthy workday lunch. (如果你经常有吃不完的家常菜,那就把它们打包起来,做成一份既满意又健康的工作日午餐。)”具体建议打包家常菜作为工作日午餐,因此E项“A helpful way to reduce food waste is to bring lunch to work with you. (减少食物浪费的一个有效方法是带午餐去上班。)”符合语境,建议带午餐去上班,承前启后,起到过渡的作用。故选E。 【20题详解】 前文““Sell by” is used to inform sellers when the product should be sold or removed from the shelves. (“销售时间”是用来通知卖家产品何时应该出售或从货架上撤下。)”解释“销售时间”的含义,后文“Neither of these terms means that the product is unsafe to eat after the given date. (这两个术语都不意味着该产品在指定日期后食用是不安全的。)”总结两个术语背后的意味,因此D项““Best by” is a suggested date for consumers to use their products by. (“最佳使用日期”是建议消费者使用产品的日期。)”符合语境,解释“最佳使用日期”的含义,和前文是并列关系,引出后文。故选D。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15 小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D 四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 The polar bear was a tiny point in a frozen white world. She walked a few blocks to buy herself a gift. Suddenly, one store caught her attention. And as she entered the front door, a small bell announced her presence. “Happy New Year,” a man greeted. “Hi,” Maggie replied, “you too.” “Can I help you find something?” he inquired. “I don’t really know what I want as my gift,” Maggie sighed. “Ah, when you don’t know what you want, get what you need,” he offered. After a brief moment of silence, the man smiled and claimed, “I have the perfect gift for you.” The man went to a shelf that had one item left on it. “This is what you need,” he said as he handed Maggie a box. “A doll?” Maggie asked, looking through the clean plastic on the front of the box. “It’s what you need and what will make you happy,” he replied. “It is a beautiful baby doll,” Maggie observed. “It looks expensive and I don’t know if I have enough money. How much is it?” “98 cents,” the man replied. Maggie asked in a surprising tone, “This doll is worth much more. How can you stay in business when you charge so little?” “We will be just fine,” the man smiled back at her, “and you will get a gift that will make you happy.” The doll was quickly wrapped and returned to her. Maggie paid for the doll and left. She walked down the street in the direction of home. The sky was slowly darkening as the evening took over. After a few minutes, she approached a woman and a young girl sitting on a bench next to the sidewalk in front of a small park. Maggie decided to sit down on a nearby vacant bench and take in the atmosphere of New Year. She noticed the woman was trying to comfort the little girl who was upset and sniffling (抽噎) . “We still have each other,” the woman comforted. “I know,” the young girl replied, “but I don’t know why somebody would steal presents on this day.” “Wish there was something I could do to help,” Maggie thought. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Both mother and daughter were thankful. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “Wish there was something I could do to help,” Maggie thought. Looking around, Maggie noticed the gift-wrapped doll box next to her on the bench. She looked back at the mother and daughter, aware of what she had to do. Maggie left the bench, with the doll box in her hands, and approached them. “Excuse me,” Maggie said, “you don’t know me but I would like to give you this gift since I overheard that your present had been stolen.” Maggie handed the gift-wrapped box to the little girl whose eyes were wide open. Both mother and daughter were thankful. Tears of joy welling up in their eyes, the previous worry and concern were replaced by smiles. “I can’t thank you enough for your kindness.” the woman said in a choked voice, “Without your assistance, my daughter couldn’t have obtained the present. You have no idea what a surprise this is!” “I am happy to help!” Maggie replied as a warm feeling of joy came over her. Everyone had smiles on their faces, immersing themselves in the warm atmosphere. Only then did Maggie realize that it was kindness and love that made our world so beautiful! Another possible version: “Wish there was something I could do to help,” Maggie thought. She observed the woman and the girl on the bench. The girl’s face was filled with grief, her sobs tugging at Maggie’s heartstrings. Maggie had just purchased a beautiful doll as a gift for herself, but witnessing the girl’s sorrow made her reconsider. Maggie wondered if there was a way to share her own happiness with the girl who seemed to be missing out on the joy of the new year. After a moment of internal struggle, she decided to give the doll to the girl in need. Both mother and daughter were thankful. “This is your new year’s gift. I hope it brings you some happiness on this special day,” Maggie said. The woman’s face softened with a look of profound gratitude as she thanked Maggie once more. The girl held the doll as if it were a treasure, hugging it close to her chest. And her tears of sadness quickly turned into tears of joy. Maggie watched them for a moment, feeling a sense of fulfillment and warmth. As she continued her journey home, the stars of the new year were twinkling like diamonds in the evening sky. 词汇激活 行为类 ①注意到:noticed /observed ②获得:obtained /got/gained ③意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/ amaze/ astonishment ②高兴的:happy/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1]Looking around, Maggie noticed the gift-wrapped doll box next to her on the bench.(运用了非谓语动词中的现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] Maggie handed the gift-wrapped box to the little girl whose eyes were wide open.(运用了关系代词whose引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2024—2025学年度高二第二学期“七校”期末联考 英语 考生注意: 1. 1. C Stonehenge is a very famous stone circle located in southern England. D Killer whales hunt fish with sounds as clicks and buzzes — they choose and chase their prey with sound waves. E. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
