A lot of my childhood memories are of my parents having parties and hosting loads of people — family, friends and neighbours. We would listen to tunes all night. Despite being exposed (接触) to so much socializing growing up, I was shy. I used to sing, but only ever in my room by myself. My parents would encourage me to perform songs for their friends. I was 13 before I was able to perform confidently in front of other people. With the singing I really started to come out of my shell. There was an after-school club called Ladders where I could sing and write songs, and I loved it, because as a mixed-race kid, I wanted to fit in. Other students would sometimes comment on my curly hair, so I didn’t want to wear it natural because I worried that it might draw too much attention. Then one day I just thought: “This is my hair. I’m proud of it.” I stopped worrying about what other people thought and fully accepted who I was. When I was 16, I started a group called Addictive Ladies with some friends from Ladders. We applied for X Factor, the televised singing competition. We ended up getting into the live show. We got booted out in the first week, but I knew from that moment that singing was what I wanted to do. I wanted more. By the time I went on X Factor for the second time, I was 26 and shot to fame as a finalist. As a singer I have released two collections of songs, with European chart hit single reaching number three in the UK singles chart. I feel so proud of everything I’ve achieved, but there’s still that little girl’s voice inside me, the one that says: “Oh no, maybe you’re not good enough. Who is going to come to your show? Who is going to buy your music?” Over the years, I have learned how to quieten that voice, because the love and the passion for what I do is greater than the fear. But I don’t want to lose her totally. She is why I’m as grounded as I am. I’m very aware of where I am from, where it all began. 4. What was the author’s childhood experience with music? A. She had no exposure to music. B. She has beautiful memories of parties and music. C. She could not stand the noise in her house. D. She was not confident in singing because of her parents. 5. What made the author join the after-school club? A. The desire to make more friends. B. The need to fit in with others. C. The chance to write her own songs. D. The opportunity to show off 6. What happened when the author participated in X Factor for the second time! A. She made it to the finals. B. She won the competition. C. She released a hit single. D. She was removed in the first round. 7. What does the author imply in the last paragraph? A. She is suffering a serious mental disorder. B. She has learned to make peace with self-doubt. C. She often argues with the girl inside her mind. D. She wants to completely ignore the inner voice. B 5. B 6. A 7. 根据第一段“Music was always a big part of our family DNA. A lot of my childhood memories are of my parents having parties and hosting loads of people — family, friends and neighbours. We would listen to tunes all night.(音乐一直是我们家族DNA的重要组成部分。我童年的很多记忆都是父母举办派对,招待很多人——家人、朋友和邻居。我们会整夜听音乐)”可知,作者对派对和音乐有着美好的回忆。故选B项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“There was an after school club called Ladders where I could sing and write songs, and I loved it, because as a mixed race kid, I wanted to fit in.(有一个名为“阶梯”的课后俱乐部,在那里我可以唱歌和写歌,我很喜欢它,因为作为一个混血儿,我想融入其中)”可知,作者是混血儿,加入课后俱乐部是因为需要融入他人。 根据倒数第二段中“By the time I went on X Factor for the second time, I was 26 and shot to fame as a finalist.(当我第二次参加《X音素》时,我26岁,作为决赛选手一举成名)”可知,作者第二次参加《X音素》时进入了决赛。故选A项。 根据最后一段“I feel so proud of everything I’ve achieved, but there’s still that little girl’s voice inside me, the one that says: “Oh no, maybe you’re not good enough. Who is going to come to your show? Who is going to buy your music?” Over the years, I have learned how to quieten that voice, because the love and the passion for what I do is greater than the fear. But I don’t want to lose her totally. She is why I’m as grounded as I am.(我为自己取得一切成就感到骄傲,但内心深处总有个小女孩的声音在低语:“哦不,或许你还不够好。谁会来看你的演出?谁会买你的音乐?”这些年来,我学会了如何安抚这个声音,因为我对事业的热爱与激情远胜于恐惧。但我不想完全失去她——正是这个声音,让我始终保持着脚踏实地的清醒)”可知,作者学会了与自我怀疑和平共处。故选B项。 C A worldwide shift from fossil fuel-powered cars to electric vehicles (EV) could significantly reduce human emissions (排放) of CO₂. However, researchers warn that current strategies for vehicle. electrification may transfer pollution to communities already burdened by economic, health, and environmental challenges. California a leader in EV adoption, offers a window into this problem. One tool the state has used is the California Clean Vehicle Rebate (退还款) Project, or CVRP, which kicked off in 2010 and offers consumers money back for the purchase (购买) or rent of new EVs. An analysis of the CVRP’s impact on California’s air quality from 2010 to 2021 reveals positive and negative outcomes. Environmental scientist Jaye Mejía-Duwan of the University of California, Berkeley, states that the CVRP has significantly reduced the state’s CO₂ emissions, averaging around 280,000 metric tons per year. The programme has also lowered overall emissions of other air-polluting gases, including sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). However, the study finds that disadvantaged communities in California did not experience the same air quality improvements. These communities did not see similar decreases in SO₂ and NOx gases and, in fact, witnessed an increase in PM₂.₅. Although EVs themselves do not emit PM₂.₅, increased electricity generation, if sourced from non-renewable energy, can contribute to it. “Electric vehicles are often incorrectly referred to as ‘zero-emission vehicles’, but they’re only as clean as the electric grid from which the energy comes,” MejiaDuwan says. The most disadvantaged 25 percent of the state’s communities also contain 50 percent of the power plants, the team found. Increasing the cleanliness of the electric grid would help, as would changes to the management of the state’s generated power, the researchers say. But the battery technology to store and use that energy later falls behind. These findings support researchers’ long-time concerns about how current programmes to encourage vehicle electrification will greatly impact people. “It’s not a surprise,” says Román Partida-López, senior legal counsel at the Greenlining Institute, a nonprofit organization based in Oakland, California. “What California is doing is a move in the right direction, but it’s not enough.” 8. What’s the purpose of the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project? A. To reduce driving costs. B. To increase electricity generation. C. To improve the management of power plants. D. To provide consumers of EVs with financial support. 9. What does the study find about disadvantaged communities in California? A. They experienced improvements in air quality. B. They had the average salary greatly increased. C. They saw a decrease in sulfur dioxide and NOx gases. D. They witnessed an increase in PM₂.₅ emissions. 10. What s researchers’ attitude towards current programmes according to the last paragraph? A. Supportive. B. Satisfied. C. Concerned. D. Indifferent. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. EVs Have Successfully Reduced CO₂ Emissions in California B. EVs Are the Cleanest Vehicles for Disadvantaged Communities C. Battery Technology for Storing Energy Needs Further Improvement D. There’s Good and Bad News with California’s Electric Vehicle Programme 【答案】8. D 9. D 10. C 11. 根据第二段“One tool the state has used is the California Clean Vehicle Rebate (退还款) Project, or CVRP, which kicked off in 2010 and offers consumers money back for the purchase (购买) or rent of new EVs.(该州使用的一个工具是加利福尼亚清洁车辆退还款项目(CVRP),该项目于2010年启动,为购买或租赁新电动汽车的消费者提供退款)”可知,加利福尼亚清洁车辆退还款项目(CVRP)的目的是为电动汽车消费者提供资金支持。 根据第四段“However, the study finds that disadvantaged communities in California did not experience the same air quality improvements. These communities did not see similar decreases in SO₂ and NOx gases and, in fact, witnessed an increase in PM₂.₅.(然而,研究发现,加利福尼亚州的弱势社区并没有经历同样的空气质量改善。这些社区没有看到二氧化硫和氮氧化物气体的类似减少,事实上,还看到了PM₂.₅的增加)”可知,研究发现加利福尼亚州的弱势社区PM₂.₅排放量增加。故选D。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“These findings support researchers’ long-time concerns about how current programmes to encourage vehicle electrification will greatly impact people.(这些发现支持了研究人员长期以来对当前鼓励车辆电气化的计划将如何对人们产生巨大影响的担忧)”以及“What California is doing is a move in the right direction, but it’s not enough.(加利福尼亚州的做法是朝着正确方向迈出的一步,但这还不够)”可知,研究人员对当前鼓励车辆电气化的计划持担忧态度。 所以D选项“There’s Good and Bad News with California’s Electric Vehicle Programme(加利福尼亚州的电动汽车计划有好消息也有坏消息)”能概括全文主旨,适合作为标题。故选D。 D When we talk about climate migration (迁移), we don’t normally picture a seed blowing uphill in the wind, or landing in a cooler place. Yet just like humans, plants around the world are being forced to find new homes because of shifting climate conditions in their original habitats. The problem is, according to two new studies, they don’t always make it where they need to go. Though we tend to think of plants as static things, many of them have always had to move to survive. A study published on Feb.6 by researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology found that 75% of the main plant groups in North America, including trees like pines and oaks, have migrated across the region over the last 18,000 years to track the movement of their ideal growing conditions. The speed of temperature increases in the climate crisis era, combined with the damage to landscapes by human activity, is making it harder for trees and other plants to follow their preferred climate conditions. These changes are interrupting an extremely long process of plant migration, and I t could pose a major challenge to global efforts to protect wildlife and reforest land to fight climate change. The plant migration will be harder to migrate over the coming decades, according to Jenny McGuire, a climate scientist at Georgia Tech and a co-author of the study. “There’s so many barriers to plant movement now. That could prevent them from shifting in some places,” she says. Road systems, for example, interrupt the movement of vegetation (植物) across forests. Because trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide, protecting them is essential to the fight to limit atmospheric carbon levels. And if we want plants to survive shifts that are already happening in their habitats, we’ll have to give them some help. That could be as simple as building plant migration routes. The 2021 infrastructure (基础设施) bill included $350 million for the construction of wildlife crossings and bridges. They will allow the animals that spread seeds to cross from one habitat to another. Rewilding land along rivers is also key, since many plants naturally spread their seeds along waterways. Authorities could also encourage agricultural landowners to leave greenways between fields so that plants have space to grow and gradually drop their seeds further and further north or upland. 12. What does the underlined word “static” mean in Paragraph 2? A. Still. B. Passive. C. Common. D. Alternative. 13. Why is it more difficult for plants to follow their preferred climate conditions? A. The temperature is increased and the environment is damaged. B. Plant species tend to be particularly climate-sensitive. C. Plants can’t find good ways to spread their seeds. D. We failed to try to bring everything back. 14. Why is protecting plants so important to limit the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere? A. Plants need to go for ideal growing conditions. B. Plants are likely to be blocked by human barriers. C. Only trees can change carbon dioxide into oxygen. D. Plants play a significant role in carbon dioxide absorption. 15. What is the main idea of the text? A. Plants meet a lot of changes in the process of migration. B. Human activity makes the plant migration harder and harder. C. Plants have to migrate for climate change, but they need our help. D. The plant migration will be harder to migrate over the coming decades. A 13. A 14. D 15. 根据第二段“Though we tend to think of plants as static things, many of them have always had to move to survive. (虽然我们倾向于认为植物是static的,但许多植物为了生存一直不得不移动。)”以及后文提到“75% of the main plant groups in North America, including trees like pines and oaks, have migrated across the region over the last 18,000 years to track the movement of their ideal growing conditions. (在过去的18000年里,北美75%的主要植物群,包括松树和橡树,都在整个地区迁徙,以寻找理想的生长环境。)”可知,植物并非静止不动,而是会移动的。由此可推测,static意为“静止的”,与A选项Still(静止的)意思相同。故选A。 根据第三段“The speed of temperature increases in the climate crisis era, combined with the damage to landscapes by human activity, is making it harder for trees and other plants to follow their preferred climate conditions. (在气候危机时代,气温上升的速度,加上人类活动对景观的破坏,使得树木和其他植物更难适应它们喜欢的气候条件。)”可知,气温上升的速度加快,加上人类活动对景观的破坏,使得植物更难适应它们喜欢的气候条件。故选A。 根据第五段“Because trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide, protecting them is essential to the fight to limit atmospheric carbon levels. (因为树木和其他植物吸收二氧化碳,保护它们对于限制大气碳水平的斗争至关重要。)”可知,植物在吸收二氧化碳方面起着重要作用,所以保护植物对于限制大气中的二氧化碳含量至关重要。故选D。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“When we talk about climate migration (迁移), we don’t normally picture a seed blowing uphill in the wind, or landing in a cooler place. Yet just like humans, plants around the world are being forced to find new homes because of shifting climate conditions in their original habitats. The problem is, according to two new studies, they don’t always make it where they need to go. (当我们谈论气候迁移时,我们通常不会想象一颗种子在风中吹上山,或者落在更凉爽的地方。然而,就像人类一样,世界各地的植物正被迫寻找新的家园,因为它们原来的栖息地的气候条件正在发生变化。问题是,根据两项新的研究,它们并不总是能到达它们需要去的地方。)”以及最后一段“That could be as simple as building plant migration routes. How to Travel Sustainably in Puerto Rico From small, farm-sourced restaurant menus to guesthouse stays, community tours and Puerto Rican cultural workshops, Puerto Rico is strengthening its sustainable tourism scene. ____16____ Food trip in Old San Juan. It all started at “College Colours Day” on August 30. On that day, the primary school students were invited to wear their favourite university’s football team’s colours. Billy, wore an orange T-shirt representing his favourite university, the UT. He took it one step further to draw his own UT logo with pen and paper and put it to his T-shirt. Billy excitedly showed his T-shirt to Laura, a fourth-grade teacher at the school. She was greatly impressed and praised him for his wonderful idea. But after lunch, Billy came back to Laura’s office, crying. Billy was upset and hurt because some girls at the lunch table had made fun of the hand-drawn logo on his T-shirt. Laura knew sometimes kids could say really cruel words. She knew although the logo was not well-drawn and of course not the most beautiful, Billy had tried his best to use the resources he had available to him to take part in College Colours Day in his own way. In an effort to cheer him up, Laura wrote in a post on Facebook, a popular social media website, on Wednesday that one of her students was “SO EXCITED” to show her his orange T-shirt pinned with a hand-drawn “UT” logo, but was made fun of. Laura wrote that she was planning to buy him an official UT T-shirt to make it a little extra special for Billy and ended the post by asking if any of her Facebook friends had any connections to the UT. What happened next made her shocked. Her post spread rapidly on Facebook. By the next day, it had been liked and shared thousands of times by students of the UT. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When receiving and opening the surprise box, Billy couldn't believe his eyes. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: By the next day, it had been liked and shared thousands of times by students of the UT. Many shared supportive comments and their personal stories. Many more offered suggestions and solutions to help. The news finally attracted the attention of the university itself. It responded by announcing that it appreciated the creativity of Billy’s hand-drawn logo and would turn it into an actual T-shirt, promising to donate all the money from its sales to an anti-bullying organization. The university also decided to give Billy a surprise by sending him a box of UT souvenirs, including T-shirts, hats, notes from school officials and a football signed by the head coach, along with items like notebooks for Billy’s classmates. When receiving and opening the surprise box, Billy couldn’t believe his eyes. Tears welling up in his eyes, he held the things close to his chest, too moved to say anything. He quickly put on a T-shirt with the special logo and a hat and then generously distributed the gifts to his classmates, with everyone cheering and applauding. It was truly amazing to witness such a heart-warming scene. Later, the girls who had mocked him apologized and expressed admiration for his creativity and courage. In her follow-up post, Laura expressed her sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this positive experience for Billy. Billy was also grateful for receiving widespread support and proud of inspiring and touching the lives of so many people. 词汇激活 行为类 ①帮助:help/assist ②吸引注意力:attract the attention of/draw the attention of ③把……变成……:turn…into…/transform…into… ④决定做某事:decide to do/determine to do 情绪类 ①令人惊讶:amazing/astonishing ②感谢:gratitude/appreciation 【点睛】[高分句型1] Tears welling up in his eyes, he held the things close to his chest, too moved to say anything.(运用了独立主格结构) [高分句型2] Later, the girls who had mocked him apologized and expressed admiration for his creativity and courage.(运用了who引导定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 章丘双语学校高二月考试题 英语 全卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟。 How much is the shirt? A lot of my childhood memories are of my parents having parties and hosting loads of people — family friends and neighbours. A. C A worldwide shift from fossil fuel-powered cars to electric vehicles (EV) could significantly reduce human emissions (排放) of CO₂. There’s Good and Bad News with California’s Electric Vehicle Programme D When we talk about climate migration (迁移), we don’t normally picture a seed blowing uphill in the wind, or landing in a cooler place. Because trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide protecting them is essential to the fight to limit atmospheric carbon levels. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
