The Guide on Your Trip to Copenhagen
Regularly ranked among the happiest places globally, Copenhagen is a pleasant place for visitors and residents alike.
Planning Your Trip
Best Time to Visit: While almost every month of the year has its own appeal, the best time to visit Copenhagen is May through September. One of Copenhagen’s most attractive parts is that even during the peak months of July and August, the city is never crowded with people but full of life and energy.
Getting Around: Biking is by far the most common way to get around the flat streets of Copenhagen. Download a bike-share app or rent a bike from your hotel. The driverless, eco-friendly Metro, buses and water buses cover most of the city.
Travel Tip: If you have data, pre-load your phone with a few key apps, like Donkey Republic for quick bike rentals and Mobilbilletter for buying tickets for public transportation.
Things to Do
Copenhagen’s museums cover everything from ancient Vikings to Andy Warhol and are a draw for many visitors. Shopping trips, canal tours and lunches around town fill the days while top tables, excellent cocktails and live music occupy the nights.
Culture and Customs
The Danes (丹麦人) are polite and value arriving on time (Seriously, don’t be late for dinner reservations!), but they are not overly warm to people outside of their tight-knit groups of friends.
Unless you’re at a five-star restaurant, expect to flag down a member of the waitstaff at least once, and they almost certainly won’t stop by to make sure you’re enjoying your meal. If you’d like another glass of wine or to order something else, don’t be shy. Tipping is not expected.
1. When is the best time to visit Copenhagen?
A. April. B. June. C. October. D. December.
2. What can people do on Mobilbilletter?
A. Buy bus tickets. B. Rent bikes. C. Listen to music. D. Order meals.
3. What can be learnt about the Danes?
A. They always tip the waiters. B. They are overly warm to strangers.
C. They often behave impolitely. D. They often arrive on time for a meeting.

In July 2013, country music star Randy Travis was hospitalized with viral cardiomyopathy, a virus that attacks the heart, and later suffered a stroke (中风). He had to relearn how to walk, spell and read in the following years. A condition called aphasia limits his ability to speak — it’s why his wife, Mary Travis, assists him in interviews. It’s also why he hasn’t released new music in over a decade.
Cris Lacy, Warner Music Nashville co-president, contacted Randy and Mary and asked, “What if we could take Randy’s voice and recreate it using AI?” “We were all over that, and we were so excited,” Mary said about the chance to hear her husband’s voice in a new song. “All I ever wanted since the day of the stroke was to hear that voice again.”
Lacy employed developers in London to create an AI model to begin the process. “The result was two models: one with 12 song samples, and another with 42 song samples collected across Randy’s career — from 1985 to 2013,” said Kyle Lehning, Randy’s longtime producer. Lehning chose to use Where That Came From, a song written by Scotty Emerick and John Scott Sherrill. He believed it could best express Randy’s style.
Lehning talked about the process of making the song. First, another singer recorded the song. Then the AI system analyzed the song and applied Randy’s voice to it. “I really wish somebody had been here with a camera because I was the first person to hear it. And it was terrific to me. How good it was!” said Lehning.
The song was released on Friday with Randy’s immediately recognizable, soulful tone. “I remember watching my husband when he first heard the song after it was completed. It was beautiful because at first he was surprised. Next, deep in thought, he listened carefully,” Mary said. “Later, he put his head down and his eyes were a little watery.”
4. What is Mary Travis’s attitude to Cris Lacy’s proposal?
A. Unclear. B. Doubtful. C. Approving. D. Unconcerned.
5. What does the underlined word “terrific” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Wonderful. B. Puzzling. C. Embarrassing. D. Awful.
6. What can we learn about Randy Travis from the last paragraph?
A. He was immediately recognized by his fans. B. He felt mixed emotions after hearing the song.
C. He was grateful for his wife’s help in his career. D. He spent much time studying other singers’ songs.
7. What is the best title for the text?
A. A Breakthrough That Changed the World B. The Brief History of Artificial Intelligence
C. Randy Travis Became Healthy After Months D. AI Powers Randy Travis’s Musical Comeback
C 5. A 6. B 7. D

根据划线词后文“ How good it was!(简直太好了!)” 故选A项。
根据最后一段中“‘I remember watching my husband when he first heard the song after it was completed. It was beautiful because at first he was surprised. Next, deep in thought, he listened carefully,’ Mary said. ‘Later, he put his head down and his eyes were a little watery.’(“我记得在歌曲完成后,我丈夫第一次听到这首歌时的情景。那很美好,因为一开始他很惊讶。接着,他陷入沉思,认真地听着,”玛丽说。“后来,他低下头,眼睛有点湿润了。”)”可知,兰迪·特拉维斯在听完这首歌后,先是惊讶,然后陷入沉思,最后眼睛湿润,他的情绪很复杂。故选B项。
【7题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第二段中“Cris Lacy, Warner Music Nashville co president, contacted Randy and Mary and asked, ‘What if we could take Randy’s voice and recreate it using AI?’(纳什维尔华纳音乐公司的副总裁克里斯·莱西联系了兰迪和玛丽,问道:“如果我们能用人工智能重现兰迪的声音,会怎么样呢?”)”、第四段中“Then the AI system analyzed the song and applied Randy’s voice to it. (然后人工智能系统分析了这首歌,并将兰迪的声音应用到上面)”和最后一段中“The song was released on Friday with Randy’s immediately recognizable, soulful tone. (这首歌于周五发布,带着兰迪那立刻就能被认出的深情嗓音)”可知,文章讲述了乡村音乐明星兰迪·特拉维斯患病后无法发声,在人工智能的助力下重新推出歌曲,实现音乐回归的故事。故D项“AI Powers Randy Travis’s Musical Comeback(人工智能助力兰迪·特拉维斯的音乐回归)”能概括文章内容,最适合做文章标题。故选D项。
C
A Scottish dairy, or milk cow farm, is offering what it calls Britain’s costliest coffee: one cup for $344. It is a huge price for a little cup of coffee, but the man selling it offers a deal sweetener: a share of a dairy farm.
The costly cup of coffee is actually a reward for purchasing shares in Mossgiel Organic Dairy’s crowdfunding campaign to enlarge its sustainable operation and produce more milk. Investors who buy 34 shares in the farm get a certificate for a special coffee drink called a flat white. Holders can present their certificate and get their flat white at one of 13 coffee shops in Scotland that use the dairy’s milk.
Shareholders receive other rewards, too, such as farm tours, milk delivery discounts and invitations to special events. But investors are also given a standard warning that they could lose some or all of the money they invest-except for the coffee.
Before launching the coffee promotion, Bryce Cunningham, the owner of the dairy farm, had already raised more than a third of the 300,000 pounds he is seeking from small investors as he tries to get a 900,000-pound loan that will help him double operations and expand from Scotland and as far as coffee shops in London.
The farm in Mauchline, about 25 miles south of Glasgow, was worked in the 18th century by poet Robert Burns, who penned Auld Lang Syne and many other well-known works. Burns, who is considered the national poet of Scotland, wrote while working in the fields there for two years and the image of his face is printed on each bottle of Mossgiel milk.
Todd Whiteford, one of the owners of The Good Coffee Cartel in Glasgow that is serving the costly cups, says they’ve been using Mossgiel’s milk for several years and other milk producers cannot match the quality of Mossgiel’s milk. “It makes rounder, smoother and sweeter drinks. Theirs is the best. I’ll argue with anyone about that,” Whiteford says.
8. Why is the coffee priced at $344?
A. It’s a marketing strategy to attract investors.
B. The cost of making it is extremely high.
C. Scottish people are fond of expensive coffee.
D. There is an extreme shortage of coffee beans.
9. What can we infer from paragraph 3?
A. The farm’s operation may have risks.
B. The coffee shops may go out of business.
C. The share price of the farm will drop soon.
D. The milk production will face big problems.
10. Why does the author mention Robert Burns?
A. To add cultural and historical charm to the dairy.
B. To stress the farm was a popular writing place.
C. To indicate the poet promoted the dairy’s products.
D. To show the farm’s farming techniques are outdated.
11. What do Todd Whiteford’s words suggest about Mossgiel’s milk?
A. It will soon dominate the market. B. It has a unique production method.
C. It gives the coffee a competitive edge. D. It is difficult to produce in large quantities.
A 9. A 10. A 11. C

故选A项。
根据第三段中的“But investors are also given a standard warning that they could lose some or all of the money they invest-except for the coffee. (但投资者也收到了一个标准警告,即他们可能会损失部分或全部投资资金——咖啡除外。)”可知,投资者可能会损失投资资金,这暗示农场的运营可能存在风险。故选A项。
根据第五段中的“The farm in Mauchline, about 25 miles south of Glasgow, was worked in the 18th century by poet Robert Burns, who penned Auld Lang Syne and many other well-known works. Burns, who is considered the national poet of Scotland, wrote while working in the fields there for two years and the image of his face is printed on each bottle of Mossgiel milk. (这家位于格拉斯哥以南约25英里的莫赫林的农场,在18世纪由诗人罗伯特·彭斯经营,他创作了《友谊地久天长》和许多其他著名作品。彭斯被认为是苏格兰的民族诗人,他在那里的田地里工作了两年,期间进行创作,他的头像印在每一瓶莫斯吉尔牛奶上。)”可知,作者提到罗伯特·彭斯是为了给这家 dairy 增添文化和历史魅力。故选A项。
根据最后一段中的“Todd Whiteford, one of the owners of The Good Coffee Cartel in Glasgow that is serving the costly cups, says they’ve been using Mossgiel’s milk for several years and other milk producers cannot match the quality of Mossgiel’s milk. “It makes rounder, smoother and sweeter drinks. Theirs is the best. I’ll argue with anyone about that,” Whiteford says.
D
It’s more than 100 feet long, at least 300 years old and visible from space. The world’s largest coral has just been discovered in the southwest Pacific Ocean, scientists announced Wednesday.
The coral was spotted during a science trip launched by the National Geographic Pristine Seas program in October to study ocean health in the Solomon Islands. It’s three times larger than the previous record-breaker in American Samoa, according to Pristine Seas, and longer than a blue whale, the planet’s biggest animal.
The coral looks like a huge brown rock from above. Some members of the research group even initially mistook it for an abandoned big ship. Its huge size caused some issues as the scientists’ measuring tapes were not long enough. They had to work in teams of two, stretching out the tape between them. When it ended, one person would stay in that spot while the other rolled up the tape, and then swam to continue the process.
For the scientists, it’s a career highlight. “Making a discovery of this significance is the ultimate dream,” said Paul Rose, a National Geographic Pristine Seas expedition leader. “For the Solomon Islands, the coral could attract researchers and tourists, and boost conservation funding,” said Dennis Marita, the country’s director of culture at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. “This is something huge for our community,” he added.
“But there is also cause for alarm,” Enric Sala, National Geographic explorer in residence and founder of Pristine Seas, said. “Despite its remote location, this coral is not safe from global warming and other human threats.”
Corals are at risk from a range of local factors, including overfishing, which can damage the delicate balance of their ecosystems, industrial pollution and wastewater. The biggest threat, however, is a global one: the fossil fuel-driven climate crisis. More than 40%of warm water reef-building coral species now face extinction, primarily because of climate change, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species published Wednesday.
12. What do we know about the newly-discovered coral?
A. It’s located in the Atlantic Ocean. B. It’s quite different from common corals in size.
C. It has been known to scientists for a long time. D. It’s easy to tell from big ships in the sea.
13. How did the scientists measure the coral?
A. By employing AI robots. B. By estimating its size based on photos.
C. By using an especially long measuring tool. D. By working in pairs with a measuring tape.
14. What can be learned about the Solomon Islands from the text?
A. It may need more conservation funding. B. It has been a popular tourist destination.
C It will become a scientific research base soon. D. Its local government ignores ocean protection.
15. What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A. The role of the IUCN Red List. B. The extinction of coral species.
C. The threats faced by corals. D. The economic benefits of corals.
B 13. D 14. A 15. C

Termite (白蚁) buildings. African termites have developed some clever designs to keep their houses at a .nearly steady temperature, though, outside, it may swing from 40℃ in the day to less than 2℃ at night. Termites construct their houses with a special cooling system. Architect Mick Pearce used a similar strategy when he designed the East Gate Center, an office complex in Harare, Zimbabwe. The building remains cool without the need for air conditioning. ____19____.
Sharkskin-inspired swimsuits. The unique surface of sharkskin reduces water resistance and inhibits the growth of tiny water plants. ____20____. These suits, used in competitive swimming, copy the tiny ridges of sharkskin to improve speed and efficiency in water, helping swimmers break many world records.
A. Boxfish and the Bionic Car
B. Such methods are becoming increasingly popular
C. There is no universal definition of biodesign as such
D. This inspired the design of high-performance swimsuits
E. They do this by coating their internal systems, such as DNA and proteins, in sugar
F. As a result, it consumes only a tenth of the energy used by a conventional building
G. There are many miracles in nature that have inspired many of our greatest creations
G 17. A 18. E 19. F 20. D
根据下文“Despite the weighty appearance of the boxfish, it has low flow resistance. In 2005, inspired by the great structural strength and low mass of the boxfish, Mercedes Benz developed the Bionic Car, which was reported to reduce air resistance, have high strength, low weight, and much lower fuel use compared to traditional cars. (尽管箱鲀看起来很重,但它的流动阻力很小。2005年,受到箱鲀结构强度大、质量小的启发,梅赛德斯-奔驰开发了仿生汽车,据报道,与传统汽车相比,这种汽车可以减少空气阻力,具有高强度、低重量和更低的燃料消耗)”可知,本段主要介绍了箱鲀和仿生汽车,所以A选项“箱鲀和仿生汽车”符合语境,适合作本段的小标题。故选A。
根据上文“Tardigrades are animals that live in water. Without water, tardigrades dry out but have developed the incredible ability to come back to life after more than 100 years. (缓步动物是生活在水中的动物。没有水,缓步动物会干涸,但它们已经发展出了一种令人难以置信的能力,可以在100多年后复活)”以及下文“Inspired by this idea, several biotech companies adapted the process to protect live vaccines so that they no longer need to be refrigerated. (受到这一想法的启发,几家生物技术公司改进了这一过程,以保护活疫苗,使其不再需要冷藏)”可知,缓步动物能够在以后复活,所以E选项“它们通过在内部系统 (如DNA和蛋白质)上覆盖一层糖来做到这一点”承接上文,说明它们是如何做到复活的,并引出了下文。故选E。
【19题详解】
根据上文“African termites have developed some clever designs to keep their houses at a nearly steady temperature, though, outside, it may swing from 40℃ in the day to less than 2℃ at night. Termites construct their houses with a special cooling system. Architect Mick Pearce used a similar strategy when he designed the East Gate Center, an office complex in Harare, Zimbabwe. The building remains cool without the need for air conditioning.
根据上文“The unique surface of sharkskin reduces water resistance and inhibits the growth of tiny water plants.(鲨鱼皮独特的表面可以减少水的阻力,并抑制微小水生植物的生长)”以及下文“These suits, used in competitive swimming, copy the tiny ridges of sharkskin to improve speed and efficiency in water, helping swimmers break many world records.
故填who/that。
cause sb. to do sth. 故填to reflect。
present sb. with sth. 故填with。
故填a。

One day, my dad brought home a huge surprise — a hamster, Mr. Nibbles. My brothers and I were very excited. I whispered to it, “Hello, Mr. Nibbles. I already love you so much.” My mom reminded us that we were only watching him for a week or two since Mike from the grocery store, who was moving, found out at the last minute he couldn’t take the hamster with him. We had agreed to look after Mr. Nibbles until we found someone to take him in, even though we already had cats. I begged my parents to let us keep him, promising we wouldn’t let the cats near him. My brothers, Tex and Indi also joined in, offering to help clean his cage and ensure he had plenty of food and water. After exchanging looks, my mom announced, “Well, Mr. Nibbles, you may have found yourself a new home!”
It took a few weeks for our fuzzy (毛茸茸的) friend to get comfortable. At first, he would only stick his head out of his nest area to take a little water and fill his cheeks with food. But once he settled in, he became happy and playful. When unhappy, he would also make a scritchy-scratchy (刺耳的) sound. Having Mr. Nibbles around made our summer way more fun.
Before we knew it, it was time to return to school. I was excited to see friends I hadn’t seen in a long time, but I was also nervous about all the new things. To prepare, I planned to wake up early, put on my carefully laid-out clothes, eat my carefully chosen breakfast, make my carefully thought-out lunch, and place it in my carefully arranged backpack. I’d ride my carefully cleaned bike to school, enter my brand-new classroom, and feel confident.
Everything was going according to plan until it wasn’t. My new teacher, Mr. Jax, who seemed very serious, started by going over the class rules. Then he asked each of us to say something about our summer. Most kids were shy after being apart for a while and only said a few words.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
As Alice talked about her family’s road trip, I heard a familiar scritchy-scratchy sound coming from under my desk.

Luckily, even though Mr. Jax was serious, he was also really nice.

One possible version:
As Alice talked about her family’s road trip, I heard a familiar scritchy-scratchy sound coming from under my desk. Was I imagining it? I opened my backpack and quickly closed it again. I had no idea when, why, or how Mr. Nibbles got into my backpack, but there he was! My heart started beating super fast, and my stomach felt super uncomfortable. This was definitely not how my first day back at school was supposed to go! Mr. Jax noticed and asked if I was all right. Now everyone was looking at me, and I wanted to disappear. Once I was calm enough, I explained what was going on.
Luckily, even though Mr. Jax was serious, he was also really nice. He found a deep bin, put a box and a little bowl of water in it, and asked the class if anyone had ideas to help Mr. Nibbles feel more comfortable. As we discussed ways to help Mr. Nibbles, I realized we all seemed to be relaxing a little. Trying to figure out how to help Mr. Nibbles helped all of us feel less anxious. It wasn’t too bad. It was an impressive day.

Before launching the coffee promotion Bryce Cunningham, the owner of the dairy farm, had already raised more than a third of the 300,000 pounds he is seeking from small investors as he tries to get a 900,000-pound loan that will help him double operations and expand from Scotland and as far as coffee shops in London.

Corals are at risk from a range of local factors including overfishing, which can damage the delicate balance of their ecosystems, industrial pollution and wastewater.
C. It will become a scientific research base soon. D. Its local government ignores ocean protection.
15. What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A. The role of the IUCN Red List. B. The extinction of coral species.
C. The threats faced by corals. D. The economic benefits of corals.

The approach to human innovation by learning from nature is called biomimetic (仿生学的) design.____16____— from buildings to biomimetic cars. Here are some examples.
____17____. Despite the weighty appearance of the boxfish, it has low flow resistance. In 2005,inspired by the great structural strength and low mass of the boxfish, Mercedes Benz developed the Bionic Car, which was reported to reduce air resistance, have high strength, low weight, and much lower fuel use compared to traditional cars.
Candy-coated vaccines. Tardigrades are animals that live in water. Without water, tardigrades dry out but have developed the incredible ability to come back to life after more than 100 years. ____18____. Inspired by this idea, several biotech companies adapted the process to protect live vaccines so that they no longer need to be refrigerated.

注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
As Alice talked about her family’s road trip, I heard a familiar scritchy-scratchy sound coming from under my desk.

Luckily, even though Mr. Jax was serious, he was also really nice.
