B Most kids dream of becoming entrepreneurs (企业家) when they grow up, yet few get started as young as Jose Adolfo Quisocala Condori from Peru. At just 7 years old, he launched the Bartselana Student Bank, a children’s savings bank. Today his bank serves over 3,000 children clients and provides diverse financial services. Jose got the idea for a children’s savings bank seven years ago, after noticing that many of his peers were frittering away their money on sweets and toys, instead of saving it for more meaningful purchases. He then started thinking of ways that children could generate money without the help of their parents, and recycling seemed like the obvious answer. An eco-bank not only allows kids of all ages to become economically independent but helps the environment. “Initially, some adults thought a child couldn’t undertake this type of project,” Jose recalls. “They didn’t understand we are not only the future of the country but its present. Luckily, I had the support of my headmaster and an assistant in my classroom.” Jose founded the bank in Arequipa in 2012. Children could become members of the bank by turning in at least 5 kilograms of recyclable waste and were required to deposit at least one other kilogram of waste every month to maintain their membership status. They would then set a savings goal, and could only withdraw money from their accounts when reaching their savings goal. Within one year, the Bartselana Student Bank collected 1 ton of recyclable material and generated savings for 200 children at Jose’s school. Jose says the bank’s success has given him much encouragement. “My goal is to reach every kid. It’s just a matter of time,” he said. 4. What is special about the Bartselana Student Bank? A. It is the most convenient bank in Peru. B. It is greatly popular with entrepreneurs. C. Its founder and target clients are kids. D. It offers service at home and abroad. 5. What does the underlined phrase “frittering away” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Drawing out. B. Giving away. C. Raising actively. D. Spending unwisely. 6. How can one maintain the membership of this bank? A. By paying higher fees. B. By withdrawing money. C. By turning in recyclable waste monthly. D. By opening a new bank account annually. 7. What is Jose’s plan for the bank? A. To expand the business. B. To cooperate with schools. C. To employ more workers. D. To bring in new services. C An important lesson in the moral education of children may be closer than imagine — it could be right there in the books they are holding. Stores can be helpful for building moral values in young audiences, according to the result of a new study. “Media can greatly influence children’s moral values and get them to place more or less importance on the values according to what is uniquely stressed in that content.” says Lindsay Hahn, PhD, a professor in the University at Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences. Hahn is first author of the new study, which explores how media content influence children. Many previous studies have focused on wide ideas, like positive or negative effects of specific content. However, Hahn’s study looks at how reading of content featuring specific moral values (care, fairness, loyalty, and authority) might influence the weight that kids place on those values. Do children who read about particular moral characteristics absorb those qualities and build their own morality? The findings suggest so, and further support how this approach can help to teach the moral principles that kids might receive through formal instruction. For the study, Hahn and her team took the main character from a teen novel and edited the content to create four different story versions (版本). Each version showed one of four moral values that the study focused on. Then those stories were read by about 200 participants between the ages of 10 and 14. This age group is the best for media research. Hahn explained the reason, “It is more difficult for younger children to understand stories, while it is also challenging to hold the attention of older teenagers, who become bored with simple storylines.” The team then designed a scale (量表) to measure the importance that kids place on moral values, so as to determine how participants might be influenced by specific stories. 8. What is the results of the new study? A. Stories should be spread more by media. B. Stories help children develop moral values. C. Children learn moral values from their parents. D. Children like reading books full of fumy stories. 9. What is mainly talked about in paragraph 3? A. The branches of media research. B. The impact on children’s literature. C. The comparison with previous studies. D. The response of the public to the study. 10. Why did the researchers choose participants aged from 10 to 14? A. Their moral values cannot be easily influenced. B. They are in a critical stage of moral development. C. This age group has better moral values than others. D. They can understand the stories and won’t lose interest. 11. Where does this passage probably come from? A. A social report. B. A blog post. C. A school textbook. D. An education magazine. D Today, China has conducted its first 3D printing experiment in space in a newly launched spacecraft, which was put into low-Earth orbit by China’s Long March 5B heavy lift carrier rocket. Video broadcast on CCTV showed that the printer has printed a flat section of a honeycomb-shaped structure as well as a symbol of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp, the parent company of the China Academy of Space Technology. The experiment was done by a 3D printer, developed and built by its Beijing Spacecrafts Manufacturing Factory, inside the prototype (原型) of China’s new-generation manned spacecraft. The printer, named the Space-Based Composite Material 3D Printing System, uses carbon fiber-reinforced materials to autonomously print objects. It is placed in the reentry module (返回舱) of the experimental spaceship, and will be brought back to Earth once the module returns. The printer features advanced technologies in material modeling, accuracy control and automation. Once the space-based 3D printing technology becomes operationally ready, it can extensively benefit space programs as astronauts can use it to mass produce a lot of things they currently now need to obtain from resupply flights by cargo spacecraft. Wang Yanan, editor-in-chief of the Aerospace Knowledge magazine, said the 3D Printer will be very useful in extended space missions, such as those in a space station, because it will allow astronauts to make components (零件) fast and conveniently in space. The technology will save future space journeys considerable resources and costs. In fact, the device is not the only representative of 3D printing on board the prototype. A CubeSat deployer, designed and made through 3D printing by CoSats Space Technology, is also carried by the spacecraft to check the adaptability of 3D-printed equipment in space. CoSats Chief Operating Officer Bai Ruixue said the 3D-Printed deployer is much lighter and stronger than its counterparts (同类产品) and it will have huge potential in the space industry. 12. What did the video broadcast on CCTV show to the audience? A. The process and the products of the 3D printing. B. The name and the shape of the 3D printer. C. The significance of the 3D printing technology. D. The relationship between the two companies. 13. What if a component is broken in the space station according to Wang Yanan? A. It has to be sent by spaceship back to earth for repair. B. The astronauts make one using 3D printing and replace it. C. The astronauts can fix it conveniently by hand on the spot. D. It has to be unloaded and abandoned in space. 14. Why is the last paragraph mentioned? A. To introduce the CubeSat deployer produced in space. B. To explain the advantages of the 3D printing in space.A C. To show the adaptability of 3D printing in space. D. To indicate a bright future of 3D printing in space. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. 3D printing progress made in China B. 3D printing set to help ease space journeys. C. 3D printing launched by Long March 5B. D. 3D printing — a new way to explore Journaling is a powerful tool for personal growth and reflection and it can be a great way to explore your thoughts and feelings. Some of her organs, bones and muscles were out of shape. No one expected her to survive. She did make it but with her strange body figure, everyone could recognize her, even from a distance. In Emily White’s hometown, there was a yearly outdoor performance in the school auditorium (大礼堂). It had been performed for so many years and actually had become one of the most important events of the Christmas season for many of the town’s people. Many people tried out each year for it, but so many were turned away. It can only include the most excellent people in the field. Emily had a beautiful singing voice. Last year she went to Mrs. Owens — her music teacher to ask to join in the performance. Without letting her sing, Mrs. Owens took a look at Amy’s body and said, “Child, you just don’t fit. Everyone would stare at you and that would make you uncomfortable. It would make them uncomfortable, too.” Without singing a single note, Emily was sent back through the door of the choral room. Hurt and upset, she decided never to try out again. But Mrs. Owens then retired. This year, there came a new music teacher, Mr. Buttler. He heard about Emily and suggested that she have a try. Emily didn’t want to be rejected again, so she hesitated a little about it. As Emily struggled, the door was pushed open and Mr. Buttler called, “Emily, you’re next.” Although kind of nervous, Emily did as Mr. Buttler told her to do. Mr. Buttler sat by the piano to keep Emily company. When Emily finished her testing performance, she thanked Mr. Buttler and knew the result would be posted on the door of the choral room the next day. Emily couldn’t sleep that night. She was suffering from the feelings that she didn’t fit and the great need to be accepted. By the next morning, her stomach was even in pain because of stress. Paragraph 1: The next day, Emily nervously glanced at the list on the door of the choral room. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Finally, the day of performance came. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 英语 考试时间120分钟 满分150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. C 5. D 6. C 7. 根据第一段“At just 7 years old, he launched the Bartselana Student Bank, a children’s savings bank. Today his bank serves over 3,000 children clients and provides diverse financial services.(年仅 7 岁时,他创办了巴塞尔纳学生银行,一家儿童储蓄银行。如今,他的银行服务超过 3000 名儿童客户,并提供多样化的金融服务)”可知,巴塞尔纳学生银行的特别之处在于它的创始人是小孩,目标客户也是小孩。故选C。 【5题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词组下文“on sweets and toys, instead of saving it for more meaningful purchases.(在糖果和玩具上,而不是存起来用于更有意义的购买)”可推知,孩子们是在不明智地花钱。 根据第四段“Children could become members of the bank by turning in at least 5 kilograms of recyclable waste and were required to deposit at least one other kilogram of waste every month to maintain their membership status.(孩子们可以通过上交至少5公斤可回收垃圾成为银行会员,并且每月需要再存入至少1公斤垃圾以维持会员资格)”可知,只要每月上交可回收垃圾,就可以保持这家银行的会员资格。 根据最后一段“Jose says the bank’s success has given him much encouragement. “My goal is to reach every kid. It’s just a matter of time,” he said.(何塞说银行的成功给了他很大的鼓励。“我的目标是惠及每一个孩子。这只是时间问题,” 他说)”可推知,何塞对于银行的计划是扩大业务,让更多孩子受益。故选A。 C An important lesson in the moral education of children may be closer than imagine — it could be right there in the books they are holding. B 9. C 10. D 11. 根据第一段中“Stores can be helpful for building moral values in young audiences, according to the result of a new study.(根据一项新研究的结果,故事对培养年轻读者的道德价值观有帮助)”可知,新研究的结果表明故事对儿童道德价值观的形成有帮助。 根据第三段中“Many previous studies have focused on wide ideas, like positive or negative effects of specific content. However, Hahn’s study looks at how reading of content featuring specific moral values (care, fairness, loyalty, and authority) might influence the weight that kids place on those values.(许多之前的研究都集中在广泛的想法上,比如特定内容的积极或消极影响。 根据最后一段中“This age group is the best for media research. Hahn explained the reason, “It is more difficult for younger children to understand stories, while it is also challenging to hold the attention of older teenagers, who become bored with simple storylines.”(这个年龄段最适合媒体研究。Hahn解释了原因:“年龄较小的孩子更难理解故事,而要让年龄较大的青少年保持注意力也很有挑战性,因为他们对简单的故事情节感到厌烦。”)”可知,研究人员选择10到14岁的参与者是因为这个年龄段的孩子既能理解故事,又不会对故事失去兴趣。故选D。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“An important lesson in the moral education of children may be closer than imagine — it could be right there in the books they are holding. Stores can be helpful for building moral values in young audiences, according to the result of a new study.(在儿童道德教育方面,一个重要的启示或许比我们想象的更近——它可能就藏在孩子们手中捧着的书本里。根据一项新研究的结果,故事对于培养年轻读者的道德价值观是有帮助的)”可知,文章主要介绍了一项关于故事对儿童道德价值观影响的新研究,由此可推测,这篇文章可能来自一本教育杂志。故选D。 D Today, China has conducted its first 3D printing experiment in space in a newly launched spacecraft, which was put into low-Earth orbit by China’s Long March 5B heavy lift carrier rocket. Some of her organs, bones and muscles were out of shape. No one expected her to survive. She did make it but with her strange body figure, everyone could recognize her, even from a distance. In Emily White’s hometown there was a yearly outdoor performance in the school auditorium (大礼堂). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The next day, Emily nervously glanced at the list on the door of the choral room. She was not rejected this time. Her name was posted at the top of the list. She, Emily White, was chosen to be the leading singer! She would sing alone in the performance. Emily couldn’t believe her eyes. There must be some mistake. But Mr. Buttler said to her with determined eyes, “Emily, I choose you because you should perform the part-your voice is unusual. Believe in yourself.” Greatly encouraged, Emily practiced really hard. Finally, the day of performance came. Standing in front of the line, Emily felt her throat tight and her palms sweating. When the curtain opened up, the eyes of the whole audience fell upon Emily. “Emily White!” Someone whispered. Then, along with the first note of music, Emily began to sing her heart out. Her voice was like a nightingale ringing in the auditorium. Applause! Emily felt so happy and comfortable. She was shining on the stage. Emily White, with so many birth problems in her body, was an angel! 词汇激活 行为类 ①选择:choose/select ②鼓励:encourage/inspire ③开始唱:begin to sing/start to sing 情绪类 ①坚定的:determined/unswerving ②高兴的:happy/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1] Emily, I choose you because you should perform the part-your voice is unusual. (由because引导的原因状语从句) [高分句型2] When the curtain opened up, the eyes of the whole audience fell upon Emily.
