There are many colors in nature. But do you think that a color has weight (重量)? I think you’ll say “no”. But I’m afraid you are wrong. If you don’t believe it, you may do a small experiment (实验).
First, put two objects (物品) with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes. Third, wrap (包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, the other one with a white piece of paper. OK, now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why do you think so? A scientist found that different colors have different weights in man’s mind. That is to say, every color has its own weight in our mind.
The scientists told us that colors also have smell. Can you smell colors? Of course not. Then why did the scientists say so? That is because every color stands for (代表) a kind of light with a certain wavelength (波长). It reaches our brain (大脑) through sense organs (感觉器官).
In this research, scientists say that people accept the colors they like, and refuse the colors they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill. For example, you like blue and hate red. If you stay in a room with red windows, wallpaper and tables and chairs for two hours, you’ll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you’ll feel you have been there for only an hour. And, if a person walks out of a blue room and into a red room, his temperature will rise. That means our body temperature will change with different colors.
9.From the experiment, we know that ________.
A.the two boxes don’t have the same weight B.colors can change the weight of an object
C.the red paper is heavier than the white paper D.colors have different weights in people’s mind
10.From the fourth paragraph, we can infer (推断) ________.
A.the smell of colors is changeable (可变的) B.people can sense (感受) the light from colors
C.people can smell the colors through the nose D.all the colors have the same smell
11.Which of the following is TRUE?
A.White color is heavier than red color.
B.People may get ill if they refuse the colors they don’t like.
C.People can stay longer in red rooms than in blue rooms.
D.People’s body temperature will change with different colors.
12.We can know from the passage that ________.
A.red color is bad for our health B.people may get nervous in a red room
C.blue color can raise (提升) our body temperature D.colors can influence (影响) our mood (情绪) and health
根据“A scientist found that different colors have different weights in man’s mind”可知,一位科学家发现,不同的颜色在人们的脑海中有不同的重量。故选D。
10.推理判断题。根据“That is because every color stands for (代表) a kind of light with a certain wavelength (波长). It reaches our brain (大脑) through sense organs (感觉器官).”可推知,人们可以从颜色中感受到光。故选B。
11.细节理解题。根据“That means our body temperature will change with different colors.”可知,人的体温会随着颜色的不同而变化。故选D。
12.推理判断题。根据“So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill.”可推知,颜色可以影响我们的情绪和健康。故选D。

High school students from around the world recently proved that robotics isn’t just about building machines — it’s about solving real - world problems.
The 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition in Shanghai (FRC), held at East China Normal University in March, brought together nearly 1,000 high school students from 43 teams coming from different countries and regions, including China, the United States, and Australia.
This year’s theme, “Reefscape” (拯救珊瑚), challenged students to design robots to rebuild ocean ecosystems. The challenges tested students’ both technical skills and environmental care.
Among the competitors, two Shanghai teams stood out. Team 6941 “Iron - Pulse” from Shanghai Pinghe School won first place, while Team 6940 “Violet Z” from a local high school took third. Both teams will compete in the world championship in Houston, USA.
As the world’s highest - level youth robotics competition, FRC requires strong teamwork, Mei Kai, the 17 - year - old captain of Iron - Pulse, explained. “Everyone has a role to play — whether it’s the driver, coach, technician or programmer — and success comes from working together,” he said.
Song Jinyang, coach of Violet Z, believes that this level of close cooperation among students helps to improve their ability to solve complex problems. “when a robot part fails, students must figure out the problems step by step, this teaches them teamwork,” she added.
The competition also encouraged global friendship. Violet Z once shared their coding tips with teams from other countries. “Real progress isn’t about beating others — it’s learning together,” said Iron - Pulse’s coach Jin Shifei. “If your competitor is missing a part and you happen to have it, would you lend it to them? Of course, the answer is yes — that’s the true success of education,” he added.
Through teamwork and kindness, these young students proved technology can protect our oceans and bring the world closer.
13.What is the theme of the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)?
A.Building the fastest robot in the world.

B.True educational success lies in teamwork instead of competition.
C.Teams should prioritize their own needs over helping others.
D.Sharing resources is against the competition rules.
16.Which can be the best title of the passage?

D
B.Solving land pollution with robots.
C.Rebuilding ocean ecosystems through robotics.
D.Creating robots for ocean exploration.
14.What does the underlined word “complex” mean in paragraph 6?
A.complicated B.basic C.normal D.simple
15.What can be inferred from Jin Shifei’s words about lending parts to competitors?
A.Competition success is measured by defeating others.
B.True educational success lies in teamwork instead of competition.
C.Teams should prioritize their own needs over helping others.
D.Sharing resources is against the competition rules.
16.Which can be the best title of the passage?
A.Shanghai Robotics Rising: Engineering Tomorrow, Today!
B.A Student - Led Robot Business for Ocean Protection
C.Teens, Tech and Teamwork: Saving Oceans with Robot Innovation
D.Robots and competition: An Ocean Protection Business of Young Students
