B
When I was a teenager, I wrote postcards to show my friends the new places I had explored every time my family took a vacation. I considered postcards as simply a way to share travels until I came across my grandmother’s postcard album (专辑).
It was a dark gray leather album, where most of the postcards had pictures that did not reflect a holiday or a travel destination. Instead, the notes were mostly invitations to a dinner party or, a walk the next day.
“Why do these postcards ask you to come to tea?” I asked my grandmother. “Because this is how we communicated before we had a telephone,” she said. “I would post a postcard in the morning mail, and a friend would receive it that afternoon. Then she would post a reply that arrived in my mail the next morning.”
I was surprised. Life without a phone sounded like something out of the world. Connecting by postcard seemed as unexpected as using a pigeon (鸽子). I had forgotten about my grandmother’s postcards until lockdowns (封锁) limited our trips to seeing our three granddaughters. Remembering my grandmother’s album, I bought several sets of cards and every few weeks, I’d write notes and mail them.
Then one day I opened my mailbox and saw three hand-addressed envelopes. They were from my granddaughters, each thanking me for the postcards. The notes expressed their disappointment with the pandemic and described how my messages had comforted them.
I had been thinking how my grandmother had accepted the telephone as a new way to keep relationships. Like her, I accepted the girls’ preferred way of communication and texted my thanks for their letters. However, even as the lock-downs end, I will continue to send them postcards because everyone enjoys receiving a real letter.
24.Why did the author’s grandmother write postcards?
A.To share her travel experiences. B.To show love and care.
C.To keep in touch with people. D.To kill the time.
25.What did the author think of life without a phone?
A.It was unbelievable. B.It was peaceful.
C.It was just as usual. D.It was attractive.
26.How did the author feel when receiving her granddaughters’ letters?
A.Disappointed. B.Delighted.
C.Regretful. D.Embarrassed.
27.Which one should be the title for the text?
A.An Old Postcard Album B.New Ways of Communication
C.Love during Lockdowns D.Attraction of Postcards
【答案】24.C 25.A 26.B 27.D
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者从祖母的明信片专辑了解到其用途,疫情封锁期间作者给孙女们寄明信片,孙女们的回信让作者很开心,作者将继续寄明信片。
24.细节理解题。根据第三段中““Because this is how we communicated before we had a telephone,” she said. “I would post a postcard in the morning mail, and a friend would receive it that afternoon. Then she would post a reply that arrived in my mail the next morning.”(“因为在我们有电话之前,这就是我们交流的方式,”她说。“我会在早上的邮件中寄出一张明信片,我的朋友会在当天下午收到。然后她会寄出一封回信,第二天早上就会到我的邮箱里。”) ”可知,作者的祖母写明信片是为了和人们保持联系。故选C项。
25.细节理解题。根据第四段中“I was surprised. Life without a phone sounded like something out of the world.(我很惊讶。没有电话的生活听起来就像来自另一个世界的事情)”可知,作者认为没有电话的生活是难以置信的。故选A项。
26.推理判断题。根据第五段中“Then one day I opened my mailbox and saw three hand addressed envelopes. They were from my granddaughters, each thanking me for the postcards. The notes expressed their disappointment with the pandemic and described how my messages had comforted them.(然后有一天,我打开邮箱,看到了三个手写地址的信封。它们来自我的孙女们,每封信都感谢我寄的明信片。信中表达了她们对疫情的失望,并描述了我的信息是如何安慰她们的)”和第六段中“Like her, I accepted the girls’ preferred way of communication and texted my thanks for their letters.(像她一样,我接受了女孩们喜欢的交流方式,并发短信感谢她们的来信)”可知,疫情阻止了作者对孙女们的探望,所以收到她们的来信时是高兴的。故选B项。
27.主旨大意题。通读全文,根据第三段中““Because this is how we communicated before we had a telephone(因为在我们有电话之前,这就是我们交流的方式)”可知祖母时代明信片用于交流;根据第五段“The notes expressed their disappointment with the pandemic and described how my messages had comforted them.(信中表达了她们对疫情的失望,并描述了我的信息是如何安慰她们的)”可知作者寄的明信片安慰了孙女们;根据最后一段“However, even as the lock downs end, I will continue to send them postcards because everyone enjoys receiving a real letter.(然而,即使封锁结束,我也会继续给她们寄明信片,因为每个人都喜欢收到真正的信件)”可知明信片受欢迎。这些都体现了明信片的魅力。故D项“Attraction of Postcards(明信片的魅力)”能概括文章内容,最适合做文章标题。故选D项。
C
Have you ever wondered what the food you eat every day can tell you about where you come from? Have you ever wondered why people from different parts of the world eat different types of food? Do you ever ask yourself why certain foods or cuisine traditions are so important to your culture? There is more of a connection between food and culture than you may think.
On an personal level, we grow up eating the food of our cultures. It becomes a part of who each of us is. Many of us connect food from our childhood with warm feelings and good memories and it ties us to our families, holding a special and personal value for us.
On a larger scale, traditional cuisine is passed down from one generation to the next. It also serves as an expression of cultural identity (身份). Immigrants bring the food of their countries with them wherever they go and cooking traditional food is a way of preserving their culture when they move to new places.
In China, harmony is a vital quality in almost every aspect of life. This is reflected in Chinese cuisine, where almost every flavor (味道) is used in a balanced way creating delicious dishes with flavors that go well together. The cuisine of the United States also reflects its history. The European colonization (殖民) of the Americas brought European ingredients (食材) and cooking styles to the U. S.
As the world becomes more globalized, it is easier to get cuisines from different cultures. We should keep our traditions through our culture’s food but we should also become more informed about other cultures by trying their foods.

A.Traditions on culture.
B.Difficulties in cooking food.
C.Concerns about food and culture.

A.Memories. B.Traditional culture.
C.Traditional cuisine. D.Generation.
30.How do people feel about Chinese food?
A.It is rich in all kinds of vitamins.
B.It balances the dishes of different countries.
C.It is extremely significant to balance people’s daily life.
D.It contains rich dishes with various flavors balanced.
31.What can be the suitable title for the text?
A.What Food Tells Us About Culture.
B.What Effect Food Causes on Culture.
C.How Food Becomes More Globalized.
D.How Traditional Cuisine is Passed Down.
【答案】28.D 29.C 30.D 31.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了食物与文化之间存在着比人们想象中更多的联系,阐述了食物在个人和文化层面的意义,并举例说明不同国家的食物反映其文化。

You forget to bring your water bottle to the airport, so you buy a plastic one and keep refilling it. Or you order takeout for dinner and save the black plastic container to pack your lunch the next day. Reuse is one of the core rules of sustainability. But should you be reusing these single-use plastics? Experts say no.
Single-use plastics leach (滤出) chemicals and shed (释放) microplastics into your environment. Though studies have not directly compared single-use and reusable plastic, experts say they are more concerned about single-use plastics because of how they’re made. A single-use plastic water bottle sheds micro-and nanoplastics into your water when you refill it, and a takeout container or frozen meal tray sheds these particles into your food. Chemical exposure increases if plastic is heated, typically in a microwave, a dishwasher or even by placing hot food in a takeout container. When heat is applied, molecules move faster, meaning it could be easier for some of these particles to make its way into your food.
The danger of heating your plastic also applies to reusable plastic, like baby bottles and plastic storage containers, according to Judith Enck, president of Beyond Plastics. Research found that black plastic in sushi trays, and other objects contain high levels of flame retardants (延缓剂). These poisonous chemicals have been linked to physical and mental problems.
Concerns with chemicals and microplastics primarily apply to food, experts said, because you are swallowing them. Reusing single-use plastics like grocery bags is not a major concern, they added. The most important thing you should do is avoid subjecting your plastic to heat, experts agreed. “A pretty hard-and-fast rule is to never microwave plastic,” Enc k said. “And there’s also a recommendation not to put plastic into the dishwasher if it’s on a hot cycle.”
If you order takeout, it’s best to transfer the food to a nonplastic dish as soon as possible, and you should use a plate when microwaving your food.

第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
In some US states, gym class is changing. Many schools are focusing on getting students ready for life after high school. They are looking for ways to leave even the least athletic kids with the will and skills to keep moving. For gym teachers, that means less focus on who is best at a sport. It means less rope climbing and dodgeball(躲避球). 36
A New Model
In one New York school district, there is no “gym” class. 37 They include dance, self- defense and rock climbing. They include mountain biking, in-line skating, and boating.
“We want our kids…, to be active for life,” said Ron Whitcomb. He manages the physical education, or PE, program for the Victor, New York, school district.
A US law passed in 2015 increased the importance of health and fitness in education. It also gave more funding(资金) to PE programs.
Whitcomb’s program started before that law passed. 38 Connecticut, Vermont and Michigan are all planning to improve PE’s place in their schools.
Outside the Gym
Tracy Krause teaches PE in Washington State. For a few years, she has taken students fly-fishing and rock climbing. 39 It combines PE, English, and science into one program. “We want kids to leave with a plan for the future,” Krause said. “I think the same needs to be true about their health.”
Lifelong Skills
In Washington, D.C, all second-graders learn to ride bikes. Fourth- and seventh-graders learn parkour(跑酷). Parkour teaches students to jump, climb and roll in the fastest way they can. Sixth- graders learn how to read a compass. High schoolers swim. 40
Teachers hope to keep students liking, not hating, PE. That means finding sports or activities they enjoy.
A.They are also cutting back on team sports.
B.It means more bike riding and outdoor hikes.
C.Other schools are now following his program.
D.Instead there is a list of different fitness classes.
E.The school district’s goal is to teach lifelong skills.
F.She is part of her school’s “Outdoor Academy” program.
G.Kids who are not as athletic sometimes hate playing team sports.

Anna’s Miracle
Anna loved to dance, who had been dancing since she was three years old. She dreamed of becoming a professional ballet dancer. She practiced every day with her teacher and her friends. Anna’s parents were proud of her, but they were also worried. They knew dancing was a demanding job for Anna, who had been born with a weak leg and had to wear a brace (支架) to support it. She had to work harder than other dancers, and she had to endure a lot of pain.
Anna’s parents wanted her to be happy, but they also wanted her to be realistic. They told her dancing was just a hobby. They said dancing was too risky, and that she should have other options. Anna understood her parents’ concerns, but she did not want to give up on her dream. She believed she could make it if she worked hard enough. She did not want to let her weak leg stop her from pursuing her dream.
One day, Anna got a chance to prove herself. Her teacher told her that there was an audition (试演) for a prestigious ballet school in New York. and that Anna was invited to try out. Anna was excited, and she told her parents about it. She asked them if they could take her to New York for the audition.
Her parents were happy but also doubtful. They knew that the audition would be very competitive, and that Anna would have to dance against the best dancers in the country. They were afraid that Anna would not make it, and that she would be disappointed.

The music started, and Anna danced with all her heart. She moved gracefully and elegantly, expressing every emotion carefully. She ignored the pain in her leg, and she gave everything she had. The judges watched her with admiration and respect. They saw how skilled and passionate she was, and they were impressed by her courage. The audition ended, and Anna waited for the results. She hoped that she had done well enough to get accepted into the school.
The judges announced the names of the dancers who had passed the audition. They called out one name after another, until there was only one name left. They called out Anna’s name. Anna couldn’t believe it. She passed the audition. She had made it. She jumped with joy and ran to hug her parents. They hugged her back and congratulated her. They told her that they were proud of her. Anna thanked them and said it was the happiest day of her life.

C.It was just as usual. D.It was attractive.
26.How did the author feel when receiving her granddaughters’ letters?
A.Disappointed. B.Delighted.
C.Regretful. D.Embarrassed.
27.Which one should be the title for the text?
A.An Old Postcard Album B.New Ways of Communication
C.Love during Lockdowns D.Attraction of Postcards

32.Why does the author list examples in the first paragraph?
A.To lead in the topic. B.To prove the experts’ opinion.
C.To analyse the reason. D.To introduce background information.
33.What can we learn from the research?
A.Plastic bottles of good quality is encouraged to use.
B.It is the chemicals in the materials that cause trouble.
C.High temperature makes little difference to takeout food.
D.Reusable plastic is more dangerous than single-use plastic.
34.Which situation poses the biggest threat to human’s health?
A.Heating fast food in a glass bowl.
B.Filling the grocery bag with meat.
C.Packing cold drink with single-use plastics.
D.Ordering hot soup contained in a plastic bag.
35.What is a suitable title for the text?
A.Stop Using Single-use Plastics
B.Reusing Single-use Plastics Is Harmful
C.How to Correctly Use Single-use Plastics
D.The Astonishing Fact of Single-use Plastics

When I saw those lovely children, I felt rather sorry for them. 60 (experience) some pains and sufferings, they faced the world with smiles. All the volunteers here, including me, thought that it was high time that we did something for them. Therefore, we arranged some 61 (activity). After doing some washing and reading stories for them, we played simple games together with them. Seeing them playing happily, I 62 (move) to tears and realized what they needed was not only material assistance 63 love from others as well.
When we left, both the children and we volunteers were unwilling 64 (part). Although spending time with these children and in assisting others has taken up most of my spare time, I feel even 65 (happy) than before because I can bring others happiness.

They tried to dissuade Anna from going, but Anna said this was her chance to show her talent, and that she could not miss it. Her parents saw how determined she was, and they decided to support her. They agreed to take her to New York for the audition.
The day of the audition came, and Anna was eager to dance. She stood on the stage in a confident mood. She looked at the judges and smiled confidently.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

When I was a teenager, I wrote postcards to show my friends the new places I had explored every time my
family took a vacation. I considered postcards as simply a way to share travels until I came across my
grandmother’s postcard album (专辑).
It was a dark gray leather album, where most of the postcards had pictures that did not reflect a holiday or a
travel destination. Instead, the notes were mostly invitations to a dinner party or, a walk the next day.
“Why do these postcards ask you to come to tea?” I asked my grandmother. “Because this is how we
communicated before we had a telephone,” she said. “I would post a postcard in the morning mail, and a friend

would receive it that afternoon. Then she would post a reply that arrived in my mail the next morning.”
I was surprised. Life without a phone sounded like something out of the world. Connecting by postcard
seemed as unexpected as using a pigeon (鸽 子 ). I had forgotten about my grandmother’s postcards until
lockdowns (封锁) limited our trips to seeing our three granddaughters. Remembering my grandmother’s album, I
bought several sets of cards and every few weeks, I’d write notes and mail them.
Then one day I opened my mailbox and saw three hand-addressed envelopes. They were from my
granddaughters, each thanking me for the postcards. The notes expressed their disappointment with the pandemic
and described how my messages had comforted them.
I had been thinking how my grandmother had accepted the telephone as a new way to keep relationships.
Like her, I accepted the girls’ preferred way of communication and texted my thanks for their letters. However,
even as the lock-downs end, I will continue to send them postcards because everyone enjoys receiving a real letter.

Have you ever wondered what the food you eat every day can tell you about where you come from? Have
you ever wondered why people from different parts of the world eat different types of food? Do you ever ask
yourself why certain foods or cuisine traditions are so important to your culture? There is more of a connection
between food and culture than you may think.
On an personal level, we grow up eating the food of our cultures. It becomes a part of who each of us is.
Many of us connect food from our childhood with warm feelings and good memories and it ties us to our families,
holding a special and personal value for us.
On a larger scale, traditional cuisine is passed down from one generation to the next. It also serves as an
expression of cultural identity (身份). Immigrants bring the food of their countries with them wherever they go
and cooking traditional food is a way of preserving their culture when they move to new places.
In China, harmony is a vital quality in almost every aspect of life. This is reflected in Chinese cuisine,
where almost every flavor (味道 ) is used in a balanced way creating delicious dishes with flavors that go well
together. The cuisine of the United States also reflects its history. The European colonization (殖民 ) of the
Americas brought European ingredients (食材) and cooking styles to the U. S.
As the world becomes more globalized, it is easier to get cuisines from different cultures. We should keep
our traditions through our culture’s food but we should also become more informed about other cultures by trying
their foods.

A.Traditions on culture.
B.Difficulties in cooking food.

B.It balances the dishes of different countries.
C.It is extremely significant to balance people’s daily life.

31.What can be the suitable title for the text?
A.What Food Tells Us About Culture.
B.What Effect Food Causes on Culture.

You forget to bring your water bottle to the airport, so you buy a plastic one and keep refilling it. Or you
order takeout for dinner and save the black plastic container to pack your lunch the next day. Reuse is one of the
core rules of sustainability. But should you be reusing these single-use plastics? Experts say no.
Single-use plastics leach (滤出) chemicals and shed (释放) microplastics into your environment. Though
studies have not directly compared single-use and reusable plastic, experts say they are more concerned about
single-use plastics because of how they’re made. A single-use plastic water bottle sheds micro-and nanoplastics
into your water when you refill it, and a takeout container or frozen meal tray sheds these particles into your food.
Chemical exposure increases if plastic is heated, typically in a microwave, a dishwasher or even by placing hot
food in a takeout container. When heat is applied, molecules move faster, meaning it could be easier for some of
these particles to make its way into your food.
The danger of heating your plastic also applies to reusable plastic, like baby bottles and plastic storage
containers, according to Judith Enck, president of Beyond Plastics. Research found that black plastic in sushi trays,
and other objects contain high levels of flame retardants (延缓剂). These poisonous chemicals have been linked to
physical and mental problems.
Concerns with chemicals and microplastics primarily apply to food, experts said, because you are
swallowing them. Reusing single-use plastics like grocery bags is not a major concern, they added. The most
important thing you should do is avoid subjecting your plastic to heat, experts agreed. “A pretty hard-and-fast rule
is to never microwave plastic,” Enc k said. “And there’s also a recommendation not to put plastic into the
dishwasher if it’s on a hot cycle.”
If you order takeout, it’s best to transfer the food to a nonplastic dish as soon as possible, and you should
use a plate when microwaving your food.

In some US states, gym class is changing. Many schools are focusing on getting students ready for life after
high school. They are looking for ways to leave even the least athletic kids with the will and skills to keep moving.
For gym teachers, that means less focus on who is best at a sport. It means less rope climbing and dodgeball(躲避
球). 36
ANew Model
In one New York school district, there is no “gym” class. 37 They include dance, self- defense and rock
climbing. They include mountain biking, in-line skating, and boating.
“We want our kids…, to be active for life,” said Ron Whitcomb. He manages the physical education, or PE,
program for the Victor, New York, school district.
A US law passed in 2015 increased the importance of health and fitness in education. It also gave more
funding(资金) to PE programs.
Whitcomb’s program started before that law passed. 38 Connecticut, Vermont and Michigan are all
planning to improve PE’s place in their schools.
Outside the Gym
Tracy Krause teaches PE in Washington State. For a few years, she has taken students fly-fishing and rock
climbing. 39 It combines PE, English, and science into one program. “We want kids to leave with a plan
for the future,” Krause said. “I think the same needs to be true about their health.”

Anna’s Miracle
Anna loved to dance, who had been dancing since she was three years old. She dreamed of becoming a
professional ballet dancer. She practiced every day with her teacher and her friends. Anna’s parents were proud of
her, but they were also worried. They knew dancing was a demanding job for Anna, who had been born with a
weak leg and had to wear a brace (支架) to support it. She had to work harder than other dancers, and she had to
endure a lot of pain.
Anna’s parents wanted her to be happy, but they also wanted her to be realistic. They told her dancing was
just a hobby. They said dancing was too risky, and that she should have other options. Anna understood her parents’
concerns, but she did not want to give up on her dream. She believed she could make it if she worked hard enough.
She did not want to let her weak leg stop her from pursuing her dream.
One day, Anna got a chance to prove herself. Her teacher told her that there was an audition (试演) for a
prestigious ballet school in New York. and that Anna was invited to try out. Anna was excited, and she told her
parents about it. She asked them if they could take her to New York for the audition.
Her parents were happy but also doubtful. They knew that the audition would be very competitive, and that
Anna would have to dance against the best dancers in the country. They were afraid that Anna would not make it,
and that she would be disappointed.
They tried to dissuade Anna from going, but Anna said this was her chance to show her talent, and that she
could not miss it. Her parents saw how determined she was, and they decided to support her. They agreed to take
her to New York for the audition.
The day of the audition came, and Anna was eager to dance. She stood on the stage in a confident mood.
She looked at the judges and smiled confidently.

The Internet and Me
Last Sunday, I was doing my English homework when I was stuck on a difficult reading passage. I couldn’t understand some long and complex sentences. So, I turned to the Internet for help. I used an online dictionary to look up the new words and searched for explanations of the sentence structures. It didn’t take long before I grasped the meaning of the passage.
I was really amazed at how convenient the Internet is. It’s like a knowledgeable teacher that can offer instant help. Thanks to it, I finished my homework efficiently and learned a lot in the process. It makes my study more interesting and effective.
第二节 (满分25分)

28.What does the author want to express in Paragraph 1?
A.Traditions on culture.
B.Difficulties in cooking food.
C.Concerns about food and culture.
D.Connections between food and culture.
29.What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
D
