Doctors will continue monitoring them, but no serious conditions have been reported,” he stated, praising the combined 8 of engineers, medical staff, and government departments.
Throughout the crisis, rescuers 9 contact with the trapped workers through a 53-meter pipe that delivered oxygen, food, and water. Doctors provided mental health guidance to help the men stay 10 . Family members 11 every day at the tunnel entrance, praying for their safe return.
As a backup plan, engineers had started drilling downward through 12 mountain areas. However, the original horizontal drilling plan 13 succeeded. In the final stage, rescuers pushed a wide pipe through the cleared path, allowing the workers to escape 14 .

Electric vehicles (EVs) have become more popular as climate change concerns grow. Unlike gasoline cars, EVs run on electricity, making them an 1 choice for reducing emissions (排放). As battery technology 2 , EVs have become ideal for daily use, with longer driving ranges. 3 , there is still a shortage of charging stations in many areas, making it inconvenient for drivers. Governments 4 more stations, but this remains a challenge.
Despite their benefits, EVs still face some obstacles (障碍). For example, the high cost of purchasing an EV is a 5 for many consumers. Although prices have 6 , the technology is still in its early stages and needs further improvement. Battery production also raises concerns about the environmental impact of mining materials such as lithium (锂) and cobalt (钴), which 7 to make batteries. To address this, researchers are working on better recycling methods to make EVs more manageable. Moreover, as EV use increases, cities 8 their infrastructure (基础设施) to support more charging stations.
The future of EVs looks 9 , with more companies investing in the technology. It is expected that by 2030, a majority of cars on the road will be electric. The growth of the EV industry could 10 economic growth and reduce emissions, creating a 11 cycle of benefits. While challenges remain, experts believe the transition (过渡) to EVs is 12 . With more governments offering incentives, EVs are becoming more affordable for people. As battery technology improves, EVs will become even more sustainable and less reliant on fossil fuels, making them a key part of the future. 13 in government policies will play a key role in accelerating (加速) EV growth. These policies are likely to make EVs more popular and widespread in the future. Moreover, the EV shift is expected to 14 traffic congestion (拥塞) in cities. When working in person, most of us have a natural understanding of non-verbal (非语言的) signals. That is to say, all the ways in which we 1 work out without words.
2 , in the digital workspace, this kind of communication can seem less 3 . Many work 4 now happen via online chats, and even video meetings can go ahead with cameras off.
Parts of non-verbal communication have always 5 outside face-to-face interaction, of course. For example, these unnoticeable 6 could begin with a profile picture on your CV (简历); even deciding whether or not to add an emoji (表情图标) in a work group chat can change the 7 of the interaction.
Yet the new workplace shift in where and how we work has 8 the world of non-verbal communication greatly. For instance, in video calls, backgrounds can give all sorts of non-verbal 9 about co-workers’ lifestyles, 10 and level of professionalism. Let’s say if a co-worker positions the camera below the chin (下巴), 11 others to look up, you begin to dislike him or her, almost 12 . Indeed, data have shown that during video calls, factors like camera angles, distance from the camera and ability to make eye contact all 13 how likeable people are noticed to be.

After years of 4 in 1867, at the age of 34, Nobel invented dynamite (炸药), which is much easier and safer to control than nitroglycerin.
During his lifetime, Nobel invented and patented various explosives. He 5 his wealth from his 355 inventions, among which dynamite was the most important.
When Alfred’s brother Ludwig died in 1888, a French newspaper 6 published Alfred’s obituary (讣告). Reading his own obituary, Nobel was 7 to find out his public image. The newspaper strongly 8 Nobel for inventing dynamite, giving him the nickname of “the merchant of death” and saying “Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became 9 by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday.”

In 1895, one year before his death, Nobel made the last 13 saying clearly that his wealth would be used to create a series of prizes for those who have made great 14 to mankind in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and peace. To widespread astonishment, Dr. Alfred Nobel 15 94% of his total wealth to found the five Nobel Prizes.

Alexander Fleming, a great Scottish physiologist, bacteriologist and pharmacologist, is know for his discovery of penicillin. It was the world’s first antibiotic (抗生素) used to 1 bacterial infections (细菌感染) and diseases.
But he made the 2 entirely by accident. In 1928, after returning to his laboratory from a vacation, he found some mould (霉菌) in one of his dishes of bacteria. He 3 that the bacteria surrounding the mould were dead. 4 by this, Fleming tried this mould out on another bacterium and found that it 5 the bacterium too. He immediately realized that the mould might have a(n) 6 in treating illnesses caused by bacteria. He named the liquid made from the mould “penicillin”. It was a 7 in the field of science.
Even though he found the mould, he couldn’t find a way for its 8 production. Until 1940, scientists Howard Florey and Ernst Boris Chain at Oxford continued with Fleming’s research. They 9 turned the mould into medicine. And the medicine started getting used in hospitals during World War II. Due to the 10 use of it, many lives were saved during the war. If penicillin had not been 11 , many people would have died from sickness or even small wounds. Penicillin became the greatest drug of the 20th century, saving millions of lives.
One might think Fleming discovered penicillin accidentally, but actually this is 12 the truth. He was 13 and experienced enough to notice its potential, and his hard work and determination helped get its mass production started. As the saying goes, “Fortune 14 the prepared mind.” It is clear that Fleming’s discovery and the 15 of later scientists together led to the great success of penicillin.

I have finally reached a place I never thought imaginable. I now enjoy cooking for my family.

After a lot of 11 and patience, cooking with “mystery produce” has made me fluent in cooking, planning meals and 12 food. I understand what each 13 brings to a meal, and I can make appropriate replacements and feel confident in the kitchen.
Now, I am always excited and 14 about food and cooking. I look forward to 15 what’s in my produce box and making meals from them.

I’m a vinyl record (黑胶唱片) lover. My 1 recently gave me his vinyl collection, and it made me 2 : why, despite limited use of my arms due to disability, do I 3 go to the effort of playing vinyl albums, old or new?
Placing the 4 on a turntable is ritualistic (仪式的), with the albums themselves uplifting my spirits beyond the experience of mere sound. The vinyl experience, including the necessary ritual of 5 with the physical medium, has lasted for over a century despite the rise and fall of various formats of recorded music.
But to many music fans, these vinyl albums are sacred (神圣的) 6 . The relationship established between that object and something 7 beyond ourselves takes us into a spiritual place.
To experience music on vinyl, a listener must pull the record from the shelf, carefully clean it, 8 it on the turntable and set it to turn around 9 . The needle drops, and then the beautiful music 10 from the vinyl record and reaches our ears. With streaming or downloaded music, there is no 11 interaction with the song.

One man’s trash (废品) is another man’s treasure. Artist Thomas Deininger takes 1 items and changes them into 2 sculptures (雕塑) of birds, many of which are 3 or have died out, sending an important environmental message through his art.

Deininger told Jejune Magazine, “I see shapes and textures (纹理) of 6 objects when observing the natural world. Sometimes a material or action figure 7 the subject; sometimes it’s the other way around.”
For Deininger, the climate problem is his biggest political and social 8 , and that’s why he 9 his artistic practice. “I have always been sensitive to these issues. But I was very shocked 10 plastics wash up first-hand on distant islands in the South Pacific when I was on a year-long surfing trip around the world,” Deininger says.
