Before the crash, she was building a successful career in real estate. However, the accident forced her to take a break, and during six months of recovery, she began to question her life choices. She realized she had been living to meet the expectations of others, focusing on achieving good grades and making money. During this time, her childhood dream of exploring the world and connecting with nature resurfaced. Now in her 30s, Zhou has left behind her real estate career and become a wildlife photographer. She travels to remote locations, capturing amazing images of animals in their natural habitats. During this year’s Spring Festival, she was in Uganda, hoping to photograph mountain gorillas. Her passion for wildlife photography was sparked after meeting Jane Goodall, the renowned British primatologist, at the China Wildlife Image and Video Competition in Beijing. Zhou’s work has earned international recognition. One of her most striking photographs features a buzzard (秃鹰) protecting its chicks from a snow leopard on a cliff in Sichuan, China. The image stood out among thousands of entries at the China Wildlife Image and Video Competition. Being a wildlife photographer is no easy task. Zhou faces many challenges, such as carrying heavy equipment and traveling through rough conditions. At times, she must cope with hunger, dirt, and thirst, as clean water is not always available. Nevertheless, she remains dedicated to capturing genuine and real moments. For Zhou, the safety and well-being of the animals are always her top priority. If a photo would endanger an animal, she would not take it. Through her work, Zhou hopes to raise awareness of wildlife conservation. She believes her photographs can inspire others to appreciate and protect the natural world. 24. What inspired Zhou to pursue wildlife photography? A. Her recovery after an accident. B. Her encounter with Jane Goodall. C. Her childhood connection to nature. D. Her success at the wildlife competition. 25. Why did Zhou’s photograph deserve recognition? A. It featured a rare snow leopard. B. It was taken in a remote location. C. It was praised by a well-known scientist. D. It showed rare animal protection behavior. 26. What principle guides Zhou’s photography work? A. Persevering for perfect shots. B. Capturing the most dramatic scenes. C. Gaining recognition in competitions. D. Prioritizing wildlife health over shots. 27. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. From City Life to Nature Exploration B. The Challenges of Wildlife Photography C. From Real Estate to Wildlife Photography D. The Significance of Wildlife Conservation C A new kind of border-guard agent could soon find hidden illegal goods in African ports. They’re rats that wear tiny red vests. Like dogs, African giant pouched rats (非洲巨鼠) have a great sense of smell. Researchers thought rodents (啮齿动物) might be able to detect illegal goods. Trained animals might be able to help protect at-risk species by finding illegal items before they are sold. Illegal hunting and secret trading are destroying biodiversity, says Isabelle Sozt, a behavioral ecologist. Hunters catch some animals for the pet trade. Others may illegally kill them for their body parts. They might cut horns off living rhinos or tusks off elephants, for instance. “It’s very brutal, ”she says. Sozt used to work in Tanzania, East Africa, with a group called APOPO. This organization has trained African pouched rats to put their noses to use before. Some of these rats learned to detect dangerous weapons. Others can even detect a lung disease called tuberculosis. People at APOPO thought the rats also had potential at ports where products enter and leave a country. Sozt’s team taught 11 rats how to identify smells of target species. The researchers gave the rats food when they kept their noses above a target odor for three seconds. That pose signaled that the rat had found something. The rats learned to signal when they found scales from a pangolin, a threatened small animal. They also signaled when they found rhino horn, elephant tusk and African blackwood (used in some musical instruments). Eventually, rats who completed these tests could tell the four scents apart from 146 other odors. Some rats went on to get lessons in fake warehouses and even in real ports. When the APOPO rats get too old to be wildlife detectives, Sozt says, they retire. They’ll “just live out their days” treated with fruits, vegetables and sun-dried fish. 28. What is the main purpose of training African giant pouched rats? A. To detect diseases in ports. B. To find endangered animals. C. To replace border-guard dogs. D. To identify illegal wildlife products. 29. What does the underlined word “brutal” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Cruel. B. Harmful. C. Profitable. D. Illegal. 30. What method did researchers use to teach the rats? A. By punishing incorrect responses. B. By exposing them to varied scents. C. By rewarding successful detection. D. By encouraging group learning activities. 31. What is the text mainly about? A. Exploring the special skills of rats. B. Fighting against illegal trading. C. Using animals for security work. D. Training rats for wildlife protection. D Given that you can’t even grab hold of it, the idea of harvesting fog might seem impractical. However, it’s already happening in parts of the world, and researchers now suggested that harvesting fog on a larger scale could be an effective way to supply water to areas in need. Fog, essentially a cloud that has formed close to the Earth’s surface, is composed of tiny water droplets. It is harvested by hanging wire netting between poles. When the fog passes through the netting, water droplets gather. These droplets then flow down to a collection pipe and into storage tanks. To explore the potential of fog harvesting, researchers conducted a study in Alto Hospicio, a city located in Chile’s Atacama Desert. There’s very little rainfall there, and not many people have easy access to water. Most residents rely on trucks to deliver it. However, fog regularly forms in the surrounding mountains, leading researchers to believe it could be a valuable resource. For the study, researchers measured the amount of fog they collected, combining this data with weather forecasts and other information to determine the scale of fog harvesting needed to meet Alto Hospicio’s water demands. They calculated that 17,000 square metres of netting would provide the 300,000 litres of water delivered to the city’s poorest areas each week. They also estimated that another 110 square metres would be enough to water the city’s green spaces. The researchers say that, for fog harvesting to work well, there needs to be a way of storing and distributing large amounts of water. They hope their work will inspire other people to explore fog harvesting as a way of supplying water to areas with similar conditions to Alto Hospicio. 32. How does the fog harvesting system function? A. By drawing groundwater through desert wells. B. By collecting rain in mountainous desert regions. C. By collecting water from air using solar-powered devices. D. By capturing water droplets on wire netting between poles. 33. What makes Alto Hospicio suitable for the study? A. Its accessible water supply. B. Its agricultural importance. C. Its well-built water systems. D. Its mountainous fog formation. 34. What is the researchers’ attitude toward the future of fog harvesting? A. Doubtful. B. Optimistic. C. Cautious. D. Negative. 35. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To present a potential water solution. B. To highlight water challenges in deserts. C. To analyze the effectiveness of water collection. D. To demonstrate successful scientific applications. Honor Your Special Milestones Birthdays are a major occasion to celebrate. ___36___ Research shows celebrating small moments boosts self-confidence, fosters gratitude, and increases your sense of well-being. However, everything changed the moment my baby brother was born. My parents were so busy taking care of the new baby that they gradually paid less attention to me. I felt like an old book left on a dusty shelf, forgotten and unwanted. In class, I couldn’t focus at all. I often stared out of the window, watching the leaves dance in the wind and wondering if they were as lonely as I was. As a result, my grades dropped sharply. Looking at the low scores on my test papers, I was filled with frustration and hopelessness. My parents finally noticed my change and decided to transfer me to a new high school. When I arrived at the new school, I chose a seat in the last row, hoping to stay away from the noisy crowd. Whenever my classmates greeted me warmly, I would respond coldly. Gradually, they seemed to realize something was wrong with me and stopped approaching me. Only Miss Anne, my English teacher, would frequently ask me questions in class. Every time she called my name, part of me hoped she’d leave me alone, but another part secretly wished she wouldn’t. One day, Miss Anne asked me a question again. When I stood up, my mind went blank. I stuttered (结巴) and gave the wrong answer. Suddenly, a wave of shame and embarrassment washed over me. I failed to hold back my tears and my body started shaking uncontrollably, as if all the feelings of these long months had finally erupted at that moment. The classroom fell silent immediately and I could feel all eyes on me. At that very point, the bell for the end of the class rang. Miss Anne ended the class and asked me to go to her office. I walked into her office, waiting for a storm to come. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That evening, I gathered my courage to write a letter to my parents. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$高二英语听力第一节听下面5段对话,每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。 Do you have a fishing permit to fish here? People at APOPO thought the rats also had potential at ports, where products enter and leave a country. 28. D 29. A 30. C 31. B To highlight water challenges in deserts. C. To analyze the effectiveness of water collection. D. To demonstrate successful scientific applications. 故选A。 Honor Your Special Milestones Birthdays are a major occasion to celebrate. ___36___ Research shows celebrating small moments boosts self-confidence, fosters gratitude, and increases your sense of well-being. 【36题详解】 根据上文“Birthdays are a major occasion to celebrate. (生日是值得庆祝的重要场合)”和下文“Research shows celebrating small moments boosts self-confidence, fosters gratitude, and increases your sense of well-being. 【37题详解】 上文“First, think about what you’d like to celebrate. It can be a recent milestone, or you can start planning to celebrate a special moment that’s coming up in the future. Reflect on any achievements in and out of school. For example, you can celebrate the progress you’ve made in an exam. You can celebrate something brand-new that you tried. 38题详解】 根据上文“Think about who helped you achieve your milestone or supported you along the way. Who cheered you on and encouraged you? 【39题详解】 根据本段内容“Your celebration can be as simple as doing something together with your family, like having a favorite dinner, or going to the movies. If you’d like to have a small party, talk to your family about the date and a guest list. You could have a special cake with writing in icing on top that recognizes your milestone. Be sure to take plenty of pictures to remember this day. 点明“传递善意”且引出下文“If you have achieved a personal goal or completed a big project, you can use the knowledge you’ve gained to help others. You could also use skills you’ve learned to contribute to a community project, like helping to plan a food drive. Zhang Wei was known as “the man who never said no” in his community. Here, I’d like to share some suggestions with you. First and foremost, it’s crucial to keep a balanced diet. Eat regular and balanced meals and cut back on snacks and sugary drinks. Additionally, boosting our physical activity level is of equal importance. We can start with simple exercises like walking for at least 30 minutes a day. Most importantly, ensure 8 hours of sleep each night. Lack of sleep can disrupt our body’s hormonal balance and affect our metabolism, making it harder to lose weight. Since we have only one body, it is our responsibility to keep our body in good shape. I appeal to all the students present to take action and manage weight together. Thank you. 词汇积累 目的:aim→goal 运动:campaign→activity 呼吁:appeal to→call on 重要的:crucial→vital 2. Most importantly, ensure 8 hours of sleep each night. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: I walked into her office, waiting for a storm to come. To my surprise, she smiled and closed the door softly, creating a safe space for me to unburden myself. “If you want to talk about your problem, I’m willing to listen.” She said. Sensing her sincerity, I let down my guard and poured out my heart. She listened patiently and pointed out that pushing others away was like building a wall around myself, cutting me off from love. As I left, she handed me a notebook, urging me to write down my feelings, “Express yourself bravely and I’ll always be here. Believe that your parents will be too.” That evening, I gathered my courage to write a letter to my parents. I poured out my heart, telling them how lost I felt. I quietly slipped the letter through the crack of my parents’ bedroom door and fell asleep restlessly. The next morning, I found my parents sitting by my bed, their eyes filled with tears. They apologized and promised to spend more time with me. From then on, we had family dinners every day, shared stories, and laughed together. Slowly, I began to open up to my classmates, too. I gradually came to realize that no one is an island and we all need connection and the courage to reach out for the love that surrounds us. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①倾诉:pour out one’s heart/unburden oneself ②递给:hand/give/pass ③开始:begin/start 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/astonishment ②真诚:sincerity/genuineness 【点睛】[高分句型1] To my surprise, she smiled and closed the door softly, creating a safe space for me to unburden myself.(运用了现在分词作结果状语) [高分句型2] Sensing her sincerity, I let down my guard and poured out my heart.(运用了现在分词作时间状语) [高分句型3] As I left, she handed me a notebook, urging me to write down my feelings.(运用了从属连词as引导时间状语从句和现在分词作伴随状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
