Do you agree with what the fisherman and his wife did? Why or why not?
I don't agree with what the fisherman and his wife did.
The fisherman was too kind-hearted and didn't have his own opinion, easily being controlled by his wife's greed.
His wife was extremely greedy and never knew how to be content.
Think: Small stories can hold big ideas.
Task 5 Read to think
Reflection
What do you think about the fisherman and his wife?
The fisherman was kind-hearted because he set free the golden fish. But he was also weak-willed because he couldn’t say no to his wife’s unreasonable wishes.
The wife was so greedy that she was never satisfied with what she had. People like this would never feel happy.
What lessons can we learn from the story?
Greed can destroy happiness.
We should learn to control our desires(欲望).
Be brave to stand up for the right things.
True happiness isn’t in material (物质) things.
...
Happiness lies in contentment.(知足常乐。)
If you know the ending of the play, tell a partner about it. If you don't know the ending, what do you think it might be?

EXAMPLE:
The fisherman told the golden fish his wife wanted money. The golden fish gave them a lot of money. When the fisherman got home, his wife was very happy. But soon, she wanted more. She asked for a big palace to live in. So the fisherman went to the golden fish again. The golden fish was angry. It said, "Your wife is too greedy!" Then it swam away. When the fisherman went back home, everything was gone. They were back in their small, old house. His wife was very angry, but the fisherman thought maybe their simple life was better.
