John and Joan were standing in front of their house and John looked at his watch. “We’ll be late. The film starts in ten minutes, but we need 15 minutes to get there, John said to Joan and he started to walk quickly.
“Don’t worry. We have time,” Joan said, “I know a short cut.”
To get to the cinema, John usually turns left out of their house. Then he takes the first right, goes straight ahead and takes the second left. But today Joan took him a different way. They crossed the main street and turned left into the park. They walked through the park and out of the front gate. Suddenly they were in front of the cinema. John looked at his watch. “I can’t believe it. We are on time. You’re really great, Joan!”

2、动词过去式的变化规则
(1) 直接在动词后加ed; walk-walked work-worked
(2) 以e结尾,直接加d; dance-danced love-loved
(3) 以“辅音字母+y”结尾,把y改为i,再加ed;

(4) 末尾只有一个元音字母和一个辅音字母的重读闭音节,双写最后一个辅音字母,再加ed; stop-stopped
(5) 不规则变化:am / is-was are-were take-took

Kate and Susan stand in front of their hotel. It is 8:30. They need to arrive at the workshop (工作室) at 9:00. “Don’t worry,” says Kate, “I know a short cut. Let’s go. I’m sure we can arrive there on time.”
When they go out of the hotel, they turn left. After they walk along a small road, they turn right. Then they take the first left and walk ahead until (直到) they see a school on their right. Next they turn right and walk along the street. On the way, they first pass a supermarket and then a bank and a post office on their right. Then, they get to a big bridge. They go across the bridge and enter the first big building on their right. Then they go to the workshop on the 18th floor.
