Ma Junhe, a teenager from a middle school in Zhengzhou, recently made a telescope. The telescope, which only cost 70 yuan to make, helps him to see the craters (环形山)on the moon.
His interest in physics and the universe encouraged him to create this telescope. After learning about Newtonian Reflector Telescopes (牛顿式反射望远镜)in physics class, he decided to make one himself.
He didn’t have a lot of money so he had to be creative to find the materials. He bought lenses (镜头)online, and used recycled materials for the rest. “I used an old plastic pipe (管)for the lens tube (镜筒), and it was held by my drum stand,” Ma said.
Ma faced many challenges along the way. First, he used cardboard to make a lens cone (锥筒), but it didn’t work well. With his teacher’s advice, he used a plastic pipe. Since the eyepiece was much smaller than the pipe’s opening, he had to try many times to make sure it fit and could be set easily.
After failing many times, Ma finally succeeded. His telescope has a magnification (放大率)of 90 times, allowing him to clearly see the moon’s craters. This is more powerful than many commonly used telescopes, which usually magnify 20 to 50 times.
“Seeing the moon’s craters through my telescope made me feel so excited and proud,” said Ma. “With effort, even with little money, anyone can create something amazing.”
31. How did Ma Junhe get the materials for his telescope?

In spring, the sun shines warmly, leaves turn green and flowers come out. But many people start sneezing and get a runny nose. Well, spring is the worst allergy (过敏的) season.
The main reason is pollen (花粉) (mostly from trees). When winter ends, plants wake up and send pollen into the air. They can produce billions of these tiny grains (颗粒) every spring. The wind blows them everywhere. It’s like a huge pollen party in the air!
The problem isn’t with pollen itself. Pollen is mainly produced to help plants reproduce. It isn’t meant to harm us. But why do some people have a negative response to it? It’s because of their immune system (免疫系统). The immune system protects us from germs and viruses (细菌和病毒). Sometimes, it mistakes pollen for something harmful to health. Then it gives off chemicals that can cause allergy symptoms in humans. Histamine (组胺), for example, causes coughing and sneezing.
The immune system doesn’t get used to seasonal pollen. The tiny pollen grains can easily get into our nose and lungs, making allergies even worse.
How an allergy develops in the first place is still a bit of a mystery. Scientists only know that genetics (遗传学) is at least part of the reason. If parents have allergies, their children are more likely to have them. They have discovered some genes that seem to be connected with the condition. It’s clear that environment plays a role, too. Many scientists believe growing up in a very clean place may mess up our immune system. Therefore, it’s more likely to mistake a harmless pollen grain for an enemy.
Most people with seasonal allergies develop them some time after becoming adults. These allergies can change suddenly. Sometimes, allergies that last for years might suddenly disappear one spring. But scientists still don’t know how or why this happens.
36. What does the underlined word “them” refer to?

Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence (AI) these days. Have you ever dreamed of using AI for studying?
Well, don’t just dream about it. The “AI-powered study rooms” across the country promise to do just that.
Once you sign up, you’ll get a tablet (平板电脑) with “AI apps”. These apps will create personalized study plans and exercises to help you learn more effectively. These study rooms also say that their services are more affordable than traditional tutors (家教). The tablet and the first month of tutoring usually cost 5,000 yuan. After that, it’s about 2,000 yuan per month.
Don’t these promises sound attractive? But hold your horses! You’d better finish reading this article before asking your parents to pay the money.
Many parents regret signing their children up for these “AI-powered study rooms”. The “AI apps” don’t live up to their promises. They just find mistakes and offer repeated exercises. On top of that, children are basically following pre-recorded lessons. “These ‘AI study rooms’ are more like a trick than real technologies,” some parents complain (抱怨).
Don’t feel discouraged, though. Your dream of learning with AI is still alive. You can still use AI for learning without spending money on those study rooms. You can use free AI chatbots like Moonshot AI and DeepSeek at home. Just use them wisely. Don’t ask AI to do your exercises. Instead, ask for clearer and more detailed explanations if you’re puzzled about something in class. You could also share some English sentences or a composition with an AI chatbot and ask it to point out any mistakes. It will take some time and practice to become a smart AI user, but it’s better than wasting money on those “AI-powered study rooms”.
41. What do the “AI-powered study rooms” promise to do?
A. Provide free services.
B. Teach children to develop AI apps.
C. Design personalized study plans and exercises.
D. Offer face-to-face teaching by traditional tutors.
42. What does the underlined phrase “hold your horses” mean in Paragraph 4?
A. Hurry up. B. Hold on.
C. Ride a horse. D. Make a decision quickly.
43. What can we learn from Paragraph 5?
A. The “AI apps” offer various exercises.
B. Children are basically following live lessons.
C. Some parents consider the “AI study rooms” a trick.
D. All the parents are satisfied with the “AI study rooms”.
44. According to the text, how should you use AI for effective study?
①Ask Al to do your exercises.
②Use AI chatbots to check for mistakes.

Sometimes it mistakes pollen for something harmful to health.
A. Green leaves. B. Pollen grains.
C. The trees. D. The flowers.
37. According to the text, pollen can ________.

You’d better finish reading this article before asking your parents to pay the money

B. Children are basically following live lessons.
