to deal with it. If you can't afford to donate(捐出) money, you can donate your time instead.

Recently, community canteens (社区食堂 ) have become popular among young people. At
first, community canteens mostly served old people. As the elderly may face challenges in cooking,
and many young people cannot cook, these canteens have become perfect places for the two gener
ations (一代人) to become meal friends. They can have lunch and dinner within a 10-minute walk,
or the community workers can bring the dishes to them.
For only 20 yuan, Fang Wenjing could buy her lunch at a community canteen, which included
a meat dish, a vegetable dish and a bowl of rice. “The dishes have a home-cooked taste, just as I
expected. The canteen is also clean.” said Fang.
Now the number of young people who’d like to eat in community canteens increases rapidly.
Almost 70 percent of its customers are young people. This also encourages community canteens to
think of creative ways to provide food and make things easier for people. A canteen in Beijing’s
Lugu Community brings out buffet-style (自助模式) dishes. The dishes are sold at 2.48 yuan per
100 grams. This price is lower than the restaurant nearby.A canteen at the Zhanongkou
Community in Zhejiang province recently introduced “blind box”. They cost just 6 yuan but have
one meat dish and a vegetarian dish. To keep what’s inside each box a surprise, stickers (贴纸) are
placed over the see-through top to cover the “main dish”. The “blind boxes” often sell out very
quickly.
九年级英语诊断监测(二) 第 6 页(共 8 页)
The rise of community canteens is impossible without the efforts of local governments. The
government provides support for these canteens, either by providing free space or reducing water
and electricity costs. There are now more than 6,700 community canteens in China. And many
cities are responding to the call to build service canteens in their communities.
46. Why are community canteens popular according to paragraph 1?
A. Because they are cheap. B. Because they are convenient.
C. Because they are healthy. D. Because they are delicious.
47. How does Fang Wenjing like the food in the community canteen?
A. Tasty. B. Sweet. C. Crispy. D. Clean.
48. What do we know about the “blind box” in the canteen?
A. If we buy one blind box, we can get stickers.
B. It is not popular among young people.
C. We can know the main dish through the top of the box.
D. Pay six yuan for it, one meat dish and a vegetarian dish will be served.
49. What does the passage tell us about community canteens?
A. Community canteens are no longer only used by the elderly.
B. Young people like to go to community canteens because of their creative activities.
C. Without government’s help, community canteens can also become popular.
D. Either young people like to go to restaurants or elderly people like to go to restaurants.
50. How does the writer feel about the development of community canteens according to the last
paragraph?
A. Doubtful. B. Excited. C. Worried. D. Positive.

Have you ever had problems in your life and don’t know how to be happy? If so, you will find
Being A Happy Teenager useful. The book is written by Andrew Matthews.
51 His books are very popular. In Being A Happy Teenager, Matthews tells us how to be
happy and answers the questions of teenagers.
There are many topics such as parents and friends, and the book says we should stop being
angry. 52 For example, you should know how to put what you have learned into pictures of
your mind to make your memory better. Many teenagers think that happiness comes from good
exam marks or praise from other people. 53
Success comes from a good attitude (态度). If you learn from problems, you will succeed in
the future. 54 But Matthews tells us happiness comes from thinking about things in a positive
way. If you are tall, people notice you and you can get a better view at the movie. 55 In a
word, you should choose to be happy.
A. The book tells us a lot of useful skills.
B. Andrew Matthews is an Australian writer.
C. Other girls may think they are not beautiful enough.
D. But they can still be happy when there are no such “good” things.
E. Some schoolboys have problems, such as being too tall or too short.

第三节 信息归纳(共 5小题,每小题 2分,满分 10分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容完成表格中所缺信息。
There are many kinds of clouds. They are an important part of the earth’s weather.
A cloud is made of water drops or ice crystals(冰晶) floating in the sky. The sky can be full of
water. But most of the time you can’t see the water. The drops of water are too small to see. They
have turned into a gas called water vapor. As the water vapor goes higher in the sky, the air gets
cooler. The cooler air causes the water droplets(小水滴) to start to stick to things like bits of dust,
ice or sea salt.
Clouds get their names in two ways. One way is by where they are found in the sky. Some
clouds are high up in the sky. Low clouds are close to the earth’s surface. In fact, low clouds can
even touch the ground. These clouds are called fog. Middle clouds are found between low and high
clouds. Another way clouds are named is by their shape. Cirrus clouds are high clouds. They look
like feathers. Cumulus clouds are middle clouds. These clouds look like giant cotton balls in the sky.
Stratus clouds are low clouds. They cover the sky like bed sheets.
九年级英语诊断监测(二) 第 8 页(共 8 页)
At night, clouds reflect heat and keep the ground warmer. During the day, clouds make shade
that can keep us cooler. Studying clouds helps scientists better understand the earth’s weather.
Scientists also study clouds on other planets. Mars has clouds that are like the clouds, on Earth.
But other planets have clouds that aren’t made of water. For example, Jupiter has clouds made of a
gas called ammonia.

Hello, everyone! As we all know, the movie “Nezha 2” has been a huge hit this year. The spirit of Nezha ,
“If there is no path ahead, I will create one,” has inspired many people, including us. As ninth graders, our school
life has become busier than ever before. We have more schoolwork and take lots of exams. So, we are under too
much pressure. However, just like Nezha, we should face these challenges with courage.
When we feel tired, it’s important to find ways to relax. We can go to the movies or join a sports club. It is
also a good idea to take a walk to clear our minds. These activities can help us feel relaxed and have the energy to
study again.
Although the life is busy and hard for us, we are not supposed to give up! We should keep trying, even when
things seem impossible. And we should believe ourselves and try our best to make our dreams come true(achieve
our dreams). As Nezha showed us, there is always a way forward if we are willing to create it.
That’s all. Thank you.
