As high school students, they have learned English for many years and have already acquired a certain number of words and expressions that help them understand this new passage. Activity1. Guessing (5minutes)
T show Ss some pictures of different festivals and asks them guess the festival name of the pictures.
T: I will show you some pictures of festivals and please tell me what festivals the pictures showed.
Ss: Spring Festival, Chinese New Year.
T: Great! It’s Spring Festival and it’s also called Chines New Year. That’s so familiar to us. The Spring Festival is the day when we get together with our families. It is a happy day, right?

A guessing game is adopted in this activity to lead into the topic by showing some pictures which attracts Ss’ attention. The classroom atmosphere can be activated by guessing the name of the festival. While the guessing game arouses students' interest, it also makes them know more about some festivals.

Read the title and have a quick look at the passage.
