She showed me the building where she had once worked. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived. Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building and stare into the darkness, saying nothing. When morning broke, we arrived at the address. She asked, “How much should I pay you?” “Nothing,” I said. She thanked me and said, “You give an old woman a little moment of joy.” Then behind me, a door was shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life. I did not pick up any more passengers that day, driving aimlessly, lost in thought. We’re conditioned to think that our lives center on great moments. But great moments catch us unawares. When that woman said that I had brought her a moment of joy, I had good reasons to believe that I had been placed on earth for the single purpose of providing her with that last ride. I do not think that I have ever done anything in my life that was any more important. 1.What will the weather be like this weekend? Hundreds of local businessmen, teachers and government leaders were present. I heard a scientist deliver a speech about new technology that can protect our environment. M: Sounds interesting. Please go on. W: Well, we always hear about using less plastic electricity and gas. Of course, these efforts are important, but the scientists said we need technology to solve environmental problems. We need modern electricity sources and recycling technology. M: I’ve mainly researched urban planning. Some south American cities planted hundreds of plants and trees along highways to reduce air pollution like this. W: Not quite, but that’s important too. He said we need to spread influence. The more people learn and get excited about new technology that helps the environment, the better these technologies will do work. His technology involves recycling plastic to 3D print items. M: Wow, I’ve never heard of that printing technology before. Plus, I doubt if anyone in the city is using this system. W: So we need to prepare. I will be responsible for researching more information and then you can make the result into a video that can be shown in class. A few days after that, I flew from New York to China for a two-month exchange program. Upon arriving in Beijing, I was so excited about the different food traditions and lifestyles. But then I discovered the other international students, I was supposed to live with couldn’t come. Honestly, this change in plans made me so stressed and sad. Still, I arrived in the city of bow with my new tour guide. This area of northern China, called Inner Mongolia, is famous for its open landscapes, traditional culture and unique structures. After meeting my language colleagues, teachers and staff, I was greeted by my host family. This lovely family warmly welcomed me. Within days I felt at home. Thanks to them, any doubts or stresses were long gone. I learned valuable language skills and cultural practices, but the most important lesson this family taught me was to feel open and grateful for new experiences. The offer was irresistible, and I instantly knew my answer was yes. The trip seemed simple enough. Ten women, ranging from 30 to 45years old, all strangers, would gather on the Portuguese coast to accept the challenge of surfing the Atlantic waves. As a fan of travel, I quickly sought permission from my boss for this once-in-a-lifetime journey. Through my 33 years, I’ve observed a common adult tendency: We often limit ourselves to improving skills we already have. There’s a certain pride in improving our expert knowledge, becoming increasingly knowledgeable in our chosen fields, yet unintentionally, this focus often leaves other skills undeveloped and leads to ignoring other areas of potential growth. Two days later, I arrived in Ericeira, a charming surf town, where I met my surfing group. Despite our different personalities and backgrounds, we were all united in a passionate desire to challenge ourselves, learn, tackle and grow. The shores at Ericeira, where the beginners learn to surf, are shallow and covered with slippery rocks. They make for softer waves but are difficult to navigate (驾驭). Guided by our amazing coaches, together, we faced the waves. Sometimes, it poured with rain, and the waves crashed around us, but we were still out there. And with every slip and fall, words of encouragement filled the air. Honestly, I probably spent most of my days frozen to the bone, but that didn’t matter because a new level of genuine joy and personal achievement had been unlocked. Learning a new skill taught me the humbleness that can come from doing badly at something new, and the pride that develops when you finally manage to grasp something you’ve been working on. While surfing might not be my calling, trying it out inspired me to take more risks in life, to step outside of my comfort zone and to never stop believing in myself. You never know what you’re capable of if you don’t go out there and try. 24.What motivated the author to join the surf trip to Portugal? A.The longing to seek and enjoy a challenge. B.The need to reunite with a high school friend. C.The love to meet strangers with shared interest. D.The chance to undertake work duties in Portugal. 25.What is a common tendency among adults according to the author? A.They refuse to upgrade their professional skills. B.They tend to improve their existing skills only. C.They avoid exploring new areas on purpose. D.They are too proud to improve themselves. 26.Which of the following can best describe the author’s surfing experiences? A.Tough but worthwhile. B.Common and smooth. C.Boring and discouraging. D.Relaxing but unpredictable. 27.What does the text want to convey? A.Birds of a feather flock together. B.He who laughs last, laughs best. C.Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. D.The grass is always greener on the other side. 根据第一段中“On a cold morning in May, I received a fascinating e-mail from a high school friend, inviting me to a 10-day all-female surfing adventure in Portugal. The offer was irresistible, and I instantly knew my answer was yes. (在5月一个寒冷的早晨,我收到了一位高中朋友发来的一封有趣的电子邮件,邀请我参加为期10天的葡萄牙女子冲浪冒险活动。这个提议是不可抗拒的,我立刻知道我的答案是肯定的。)”以及“As a fan of travel, I quickly sought permission from my boss for this once-in-a-lifetime journey.(作为一名旅行爱好者,我很快就得到了老板的许可,开始了这次千载难逢的旅行。)” 故选A。 25. 根据第二段中“We often limit ourselves to improving skills we already have. There’s a certain pride in improving our expert knowledge, becoming increasingly knowledgeable in our chosen fields, yet unintentionally, this focus often leaves other skills undeveloped and leads to ignoring other areas of potential growth.( 我们常常把自己局限于提高已有的技能。提高我们的专业知识,在我们选择的领域变得越来越博学,这是一种自豪感,但无意中,这种关注往往使其他技能得不到发展,并导致忽视其他潜在的增长领域。)”可知,作者认为成年人有一种自豪感,即通过提高自己在所选领域的专业知识来变得越来越有知识,但这种关注往往无意中忽视了其他技能和潜在的发展领域即他们倾向于只提高自己现有的技能。故选B。 26.推理判断题。根据第四段中“Guided by our amazing coaches, together, we faced the waves. Learning a new skill taught me the humbleness that can come from doing badly at something new, and the pride that develops when you finally manage to grasp something you’ve been working on.(在我们出色的教练的带领下,我们一起面对海浪。 故选A。 27. C选项“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.(生活从你舒适区的尽头开始。)” C。 C Electronic waste, or e-waste, has reached levels that cannot be continued. More efforts are needed to take precious metals from abandoned laptops and smartphones. Research shows that over 57 million tons of e-waste was created worldwide in 2021 and people are frustrated about the lack of options to recycle their tech. Building a low-carbon economy will depend on battery technology for electric vehicles and energy storage. Taking the elements from used batteries will be an environmental necessity. Lithium-ion (锂离子) batteries also contain cobalt (钴) and copper (铜), but as mining for these metals creates poisonous pollution that can ruin the environment, so too can battery recycling if not done properly. It’s a problem that needs to be solved quickly. Another strong pressure in mining e-waste for recycled materials is that supplies could stop entirely. Up to 30 different elements are used in smartphones, and six of them are predicted to run out in the next century. “Developing a circular economy where minerals used in tech devices are saved and repurposed could help us to bypass supply chain issues in the future while also helping to reduce environmental impacts,” said RSC president Tom Welton. “It is essential that governments and businesses urgently do more to deal with the world’s growing e-waste crisis and ease the worry on supply chains.” The US generates more than six million tons of e-waste each year and recycles only15 per cent. So there is a huge need to increase and regulate recycling instead of shipping waste abroad, where it is taken apart or made into pieces, releasing poison that can expose workers, including children, to diseases like cancer. Vast quantities are simply burned or buried in landfill to pollute the air, soil and water. Electronic equipment is forecast to generate nearly 75 million metric tons of e-waste annually by 2030—almost double what was created in 2014. Less than 20per cent of global e-waste is currently recycled and that needs to change. 28.What’s the author’s attitude towards the future supplies of certain elements? A.Concerned. B.Satisfied. C.Objective. D.Uncertain. 29.What does Tom Welton suggest? A.Regulating local recycling. B.Boosting efforts to take metals. C.Increasing global e-waste recycling. D.Developing a circular economy for tech minerals. 30.Why does the author mention the US e-waste in the fifth paragraph? A.To show the focus on the problem from the government. B.To make a further prediction about worsening problems. C.To illustrate the seriousness of the problem. D.To find a solution to the problem. 31.What does the passage mainly talk about? A.Mining’s environmental impact. B.Lack of recycling options for tech devices. C.Need for a circular economy in tech devices. D.Growing e-waste crisis and supply chain effects. 根据第二段中“Building a low-carbon economy will depend on battery technology for electric vehicles and energy storage. Taking the elements from used batteries will be an environmental necessity.( 建设低碳经济将取决于电动汽车和能源储存的电池技术。从废旧电池中提取元素将是环保的必需品。)”以及第三段中“Another strong pressure in mining e-waste for recycled materials is that supplies could stop entirely. Up to 30 different elements are used in smartphones, and six of them are predicted to run out in the next century.(从电子垃圾中回收材料的另一个巨大压力是供应可能完全停止。智能手机中使用了多达30种不同的元素,其中6种预计将在下个世纪用完。)”可知,此处提到了一些元素可能会在未来世纪耗尽,作者强调了开发循环经济的重要性,以确保矿物资源得到重复利用,从而避免未来供应链的问题,并减少环境影响。这表明作者对未来某些元素的供应感到担忧。故选A。 29. 根据第四段中““Developing a circular economy where minerals used in tech devices are saved and repurposed could help us to bypass supply chain issues in the future while also helping to reduce environmental impacts,” said RSC president Tom Welton.( RSC主席Tom Welton说:“发展循环经济,节约和重新利用科技设备中使用的矿物,可以帮助我们在未来绕过供应链问题,同时也有助于减少对环境的影响。”)” 根据第五段中“The US generates more than six million tons of e-waste each year and recycles only15 per cent.(美国每年产生600多万吨电子垃圾,其中只有15%被回收利用。)”以及本段中“Vast quantities are simply burned or buried in landfill to pollute the air, soil and water.(大量的垃圾被直接焚烧或填埋,污染了空气、土壤和水。)” D。 D Minimizing the environmental damage that new roads cause is generally regarded as a good thing. But to do that, it helps to understand just how new roads cause the damage of which they are accused. Recently, a group of researchers led by Dr. Gonzalez conducted an experiment and proved that immigration is good for the health of animal populations. A road destroys only a small part of the habitat, thus destroying just a few local populations of creatures. So the argument that road-building itself is bad for biodiversity is not self-evidently correct. Those who nevertheless hold this view say that apparently separate local populations of animals are, in fact, parts of much larger populations connected via migration. According to this theory, when a local population struggles to move about — because of an epidemic, for example — individuals from neighboring communities can fill the gaps. The implications of the theory are straightforward. Cut local populations off from each other and each is more likely to disappear. And roads are good at doing just that. Testing the theory with experimental roads, however, would be expensive. Dr. Gonzalez’s brainwave was to do the whole thing on a much smaller scale. The team studied moss-covered rocks. On some rocks the researchers left the moss untouched; on others they made “roadways” across to leave the moss isolated. After waiting six months, they found that in the disturbed habitats nearly all the bug population had declined compared with undisturbed moss, and 40% of the species had become extinct. The real test came in the second part of the experiment. In this, the researchers removed moss much as before, but they left narrow moss paths to bridge the no-bug’s-land between islands. The islands with bridges did far better than isolated islands — a result that supports the notion that population exchange is necessary to keep an ecosystem healthy. Whether these results can be translated to large-scale ecosystems remains uncertain. But if they can, they would cause more, not less, concern about the ecological effects of road-building. On the other hand, they also suggest a way out. In Britain, tunnels are often built under roads for animals of regular habits, such as badgers (獾), to be able to travel their traditional routes without having to fight with traffic. Extending that principle, perhaps special bridges might be a cheap way of letting man and nature rub along a bit better. 32.What’s the main idea of the passage? A.Calling on us to stop building roads for a healthy ecosystem. B.Warning us of potential dangers of animal immigration. C.Informing us of the environmental damage caused by new roads. D.Suggesting a new way to avoid the damage caused by new roads. 33.Dr. Gonzalez’s experiment found that __________. A.building roads is expensive B.immigration is good for animals C.roads cut off animal immigration D.tunnels should be built under roads 34.How does the author present his point? A.By analyzing facts.             B.By giving examples. C.By providing scientific findings. D.By comparing possible effects. 35.According to the passage, which of the following statements will the writer agree with? A.The impact of road-building is not as serious as we thought. B.Road-building is beneficial to animal immigration. C.Environmental damage caused by road-building is still uncertain. D.Environmental damage caused by road-building might be lessened. 根据第一段“Minimizing the environmental damage that new roads cause is generally regarded as a good thing. But to do that, it helps to understand just how new roads cause the damage of which they are accused.”(把新建道路对环境造成的破坏降到最低通常被认为是一件好事。 根据第二段“Recently, a group of researchers led by Dr. Gonzalez conducted an experiment and proved that immigration is good for the health of animal populations.”(最近,冈萨雷斯博士领导的一组研究人员进行了一项实验,证明了移民对动物种群的健康有益。) 根据第二段“Recently, a group of researchers led by Dr. Gonzalez conducted an experiment and proved that immigration is good for the health of animal populations.”(最近,冈萨雷斯博士领导的一组研究人员进行了一项实验,证明了移民对动物种群的健康有益),第三段“According to this theory, when a local population struggles to move about — because of an epidemic, for example — individuals from neighboring communities can fill the gaps.”(根据这一理论,当当地人口难以移动时,例如由于流行病,来自邻近社区的个人可以填补空白。)和第五段“After waiting six months, they found that in the disturbed habitats nearly all the bug population had declined compared with undisturbed moss, and 40% of the species had become extinct.”( 等了六个月后,他们发现,与未受干扰的苔藓相比,在受干扰的栖息地,几乎所有的虫子数量都减少了,40%的物种已经灭绝。) 根据文章最后一段“In Britain, tunnels are often built under roads for animals of regular habits, such as badgers (獾), to be able to travel their traditional routes without having to fight with traffic. Extending that principle, perhaps special bridges might be a cheap way of letting man and nature rub along a bit better.”(在英国,人们经常在道路下方建造隧道,让像獾这样的有规律习性的动物能够沿着它们的传统路线行走,而不必与交通争抢。 Health, as the old saying goes, is over wealth, so it’s of great significance to keep fit. You can take away our money, our house, or our clothes and we can survive. 36 That is why I eat healthfully, exercise regularly, and keep up my social life. Eating healthfully is important to maintain one’s health. I try to avoid foods high in fat like French fries or cookies. I also try to limit the amount of animal protein I consume. 37 So, it is important to know how to cook these foods so that the nutrients are not lost in the cooking process. Our muscles must continue to be strong to support our body as we age. Exercise helps the bones build density and helps us maintain our posture. 38 A regular exercise program of cardiovascular training and weight training is an important part of keeping us healthy. 39 Studies have shown that people with a wide range of social contacts get fewer colds and recover faster from diseases than those who aren’t socially active. For the sake of health, I like to play and interact with my friends and I always feel better when I am with them than when I am alone. By eating properly and exercising regularly, I can keep my body at an appropriate weight and can maintain my health. By spending time with my friends, I can keep my mind as well as my body happy. 40 A.It can also strengthen our muscles. B.Take away our health and we will die. C.Friends are an important part of one’s health. D.These are my three secrets to keeping a healthy lifestyle. E.Besides, I always stay away from junk food which lacks nutrients. F.By joining in relaxing activities, I can refresh myself to study well. G.Instead, I eat lots of vegetables and fruit which are rich in fiber and vitamins. 36.根据前文“You can take away our money, our house, or our clothes and we can survive.(你可以拿走我们的钱,拿走我们的房子,拿走我们的衣服,我们还能活下去。)”和后文“That is why I eat healthfully, exercise regularly, and keep up my social life.(这就是为什么我吃得健康,经常锻炼,保持我的社交生活。)” 37.根据段落标题“ Eating healthfully is important to maintain one’s health.(健康饮食对保持健康很重要。) ”可知,本段讲述饮食健康对身体健康很重要,空处前文“I try to avoid foods high in fat like French fries or cookies. I had just got back from school; I sat down at a table to do my homework when my mom came in. She told me that she and Dad had been thinking hard about getting a new sister for me. On hearing this, I burst out crying. I told Mom I didn't want a sister. “ But...” said Mom. Without letting her finish, I rushed to my room crying. I closed my door and went to my fluffy bed. My bed sheets usually helped me relax but not on this occasion, as I had so much anger that I threw my glass cup on the floor. My mom came in a few minutes later. She said that the way I was acting wasn't right. My mom started talking about how my new sister was having a really hard time. She said that her parents had unfortunately died in an earthquake, so she had to go to a foster(收养) home. A few days later, she got adopted by some people who treated her badly. One day she got tired of being treated poorly and escaped to the forest, and that is how they found her. It was night, and I was sleeping when suddenly I felt the ground move; I was scared and wanted to go to my parents' room. The shaking stopped, so I went to look for my parents, but I couldn't find them. When I opened my eyes, I was in a foster home. I knew something had happened to my parents; I was scared and closed my eyes. I opened my eyes, and I was in a farm. I was there for a few days with a horrible woman who treated me badly. Suddenly I opened my eyes, and I was on my bed, realizing it was a dream. 注意:(1)续写词数应为150左右; (2)    请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I felt the same way my sister felt: angry , sad, and hurt. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was morning, and my mom and I were waiting for my new sister. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】 I felt the same way my sister felt: angry, sad, and hurt. A wave of complex emotions welled in my heart. I felt sorry and guilty. Because of the dream, I realized I was so selfish that I only wanted my parents for myself. It was not until that night that I realized how happy I was and how unlucky she was. I couldn’t wait to knock at parents’ bedroom to tell my decision. They were not only surprised but delighted at my change. It was morning , and my mom and I were waiting for my new sister. Looking forward to giving her a warm welcome, I decorated the house with colorful balloons and gifts. When the door was opened, a pretty and shy girl came in. Immediately I ran to her and hugged her tightly, “You have had a new sister!”  My parents cheered excitedly. Tears of happiness and thanks sparkled in her eyes. From then on, we became best sisters and our house was not big but always full of love and laughter. 词汇激活 行为类 ①意识到:realize /be aware of ②拥抱:hug/embrace ③告诉:tell /inform ④装饰:decorate/ ornament 情绪类 ①快乐的:happy/pleased ②惊讶的:surprised/astonished 【点睛】[高分句型1] Because of the dream, I realized I was so selfish that I only wanted my parents for myself. Unlike large gallery shows, our events aren't to designed for wealthy collectors. The majority of people here are people who live nearby and appreciate art. How did this event get so much attention? We achieved this by letting our cities, painters and designers, show whatever they want. Thus, our goal isn't about profit. It's about creating and growing and art community. Well, i've already seen some of your large life like landscape paintings. They are my favorites. Great, but none of these are mine. Please let me introduce the painters to you. Welcome, sir. We'll have to present IT to everyone in mr. Franklin environmental science course next week. I went to a job and business fair. Last week, hundreds of local businessmen, teachers and government leaders were present. I heard a scientist deliver a speech about new technology that can protect our environment. Sounds interesting. Please go on. Well, we always hear about using less plastic, electricity and gas. Of course, these efforts are important, but the scientists said, we need technology to solve environmental problems. We need modern electricity sources and recycling technology. I've mainly researched urban planning. Some south american cities planted hundreds of plants and trees along highways to reduce air pollution like this. Not quite, but that's important too, he said. We need to spread, influence. The more people learn and get excited about new technology that helps the environment, the Better these technologies will do work. His technology involves recycling plastic two three d print items. Wow, i've never heard of that printing technology before. Plus, I doubt if anyone in the city is using this system. So we need to prepare. I will be responsible for researching more information, and then you can make the result into a video that can be shown in class OK. I agree. What are we going to do on our project? B On a cold morning in May, I received a fascinating e-mail from a high school friend, inviting me to a 10-day all-female surfing adventure in Portugal. C Electronic waste, or e-waste, has reached levels that cannot be continued. D Minimizing the environmental damage that new roads cause is generally regarded as a good thing. B On a cold morning in May, I received a fascinating e-mail from a high school friend, inviting me to a 10-day all-female surfing adventure in Portugal. C Electronic waste, or e-waste, has reached levels that cannot be continued. D Minimizing the environmental damage that new roads cause is generally regarded as a good thing. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Health, as the old saying goes, is over wealth, so it’s of great significance to keep fit. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was morning, and my mom and I were waiting for my new sister. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 / 15 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2024-2025学年高二下学期期末模拟卷01(人教版2019) 英语·参考答案 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 1—5 BCACA 第二节(共15小题;每小题1.5分,满分 22.5分) 6—10 ACBCA 11—15 BABBC 16—20 AABCC 第二部分 阅读理解(共两节, 满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2. 5分, 满分37. 5分) 21. I would like to share mine with you. The first part of my plan is a lecture on stress management. An expert will be invited to offer us practical tips on that topic. Following the lecture, in a peer sharing session, we can share how we feel with each other. My plan also involves an afternoon of fun sports for everyone. Games like kite flying and fun relay races will be organized to give all students some precious quality time together. The whole class can not only take a break from the tight schedule, but also enjoy moments of accomplishment during the process. What do you think of my plan? Since you are experienced in organizing extracurricular activities, can you give me some suggestions Thanks a lot!        Yours,          Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 【参考范文】 I felt the same way my sister felt: angry, sad, and hurt. A wave of complex welled in my heart. I felt sorry and guilty. Because of the dream, I realized I was so selfish that I only wanted my parents for myself. It was not until that night that I realized how happy I was and how unlucky she was .I couldn’t wait to knock at parents’ bedroom to tell my decision. They were not only surprised but delighted at my change. It was morning, and my mom and I were waiting for my new sister. Looking forward to giving her a warm welcome, I decorated the house with colorful balloons and gifts. When the door was opened, a pretty and shy girl came in. Immediately I ran to her and hugged her tightly, “You have had a new sister!”My parents cheered excitedly. Tears of happiness and thanks sparkled in her eyes. From then on, we became best sisters and our house was not big but always full of love and laughter. 1 / 15 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
