AI Friends: Helpful But Not Perfect
Nowadays, more Chinese people are turning to AI tools like DeepSeek when they feel stressed or have some problems. They share feelings with the chatbot and get warm-hearted advice. This is known as “At therapy” and it’s becoming popular online. But here comes a question: can robots truly take the place of human therapists?
The need for mental health care is huge. Around the world, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not get it because it was too expensive or there weren’t enough doctors, according to Huntington Psychological Services. Daniel Lowd, a professor at the University of Oregon, believes Al could help fill this gap. “I think that’s wonderful if people can find some support and ideas by talking to the chatbot, especially when our friends or family aren’t available.” said Lowd.
However, Al has its weakness. Human therapists understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and make special treatment plans for us. Robots can’t do them perfectly. Besides, safety is a risk. Unlike real doctors, Al might act like a therapist without proper training or rules and sometimes give wrong advice. Experts believe the key to safe Al therapy is strict government control. For example, Wysa, an AI mental health app, follows strict medical rules in the UK.
As AI becomes part of daily life, we must balance (平衡) its good sides and risks. When AI can give us quick help, real human relationships are still necessary for serious emotional problems.
31. What is “AI therapy” according to Paragraph 1?
A. AI tools help doctors treat sickness in the hospital.
B. AI tools offer us advice for our problems.
C. People use AI to find friends online.
32. Why do many people choose AI therapy?
A. It is cheaper and easier to get.
B. It can offer more advice than human therapists.
C. It can solve all mental health problems.
33. Which sentence can we put the underlined word “gap” in?
A. His decision to move to a new city was a big _______ in his life.
B. I hope our _______ to learn a new language this year works out.
C. We try to make the _______ between the rich and the poor smaller.
34. What is NOT TRUE about the weakness of AI therapists?
A. AI can’t make special plans for our needs like human therapists.
B. AI therapists understand our feelings as well as humans.
C. AI may act without good training and give wrong advice.
35. What does the writer think about AI therapy?
A. AI therapy can help people a lot and take the place of real doctors.
B. AI therapy is not perfect so we should stop using AI tools.
C. AI therapy has pros and cons and human relationships are also important.
【答案】31. B 32. A 33. C 34. B 35. C

Your throat becomes dry. Your legs shake. You suddenly forget what you plan to say. All these show that you’ve got stage fright (怯场), a common fear when speaking in front of the public. Here are a number of ways to help you.
____46____
Think back to your first exam or your first day at school. You were probably nervous in both situations because you were facing something new. ____47____ This is also true for public speaking. The more you practice and learn about it, the less stressed you may feel.
Make enough preparations
Another key is to prepare the speech so well that you can’t help but be successful. A general rule is that each minute of speaking time needs one or two hours of preparation time or even more. ____48____ One study shows that proper preparation can lower 75 percent or stage fright.
Always think positively (积极地)
The power of positive thinking is to be sure of yourself. ____49____ However, if you predict a bad result, that is often what you will get. This is quite true when it comes to public speaking. So try to turn your worries into positive thoughts. You can say to yourself, “I believe I can give an excellent speech!”
Don’t expect perfection (完美)
It may also help to know that there is no such thing as a perfect speech. ____50____ Luckily, the audience (观众) never seem to notice. Why? Because they don’t know what the speaker plans to say. They only hear what the speaker does say. If you really make a mistake, just go on as if nothing happened.
A. Try to get more experience.
B. Face your mistakes bravely.
C. If you think you can make it, you usually can.
D. Once you become used to it, it is no longer scary.
E. Almost every speaker says or does something wrong.
F. This may seem quite difficult, but it can make a difference.

【49题详解】
根据前文“The power of positive thinking is to be sure of yourself”可知,说的是积极思考的力量在于肯定自己;结合后文举例“However, if you predict a bad result, that is often what you will get.”为消极思考,因此此处需填入积极心理暗示的例证。选项C“如果你认为自己能够成功,那么通常情况下你就能成功。”符合语境,故选C。
【50题详解】
根据前文“there is no such thing as a perfect speech”可知,没有完美的演讲;结合后文“Luckily, the audience (观众) never seem to notice.”可推知,此处需补充说明演讲中的错误是普遍的,但幸好观众不会注意到。选项E“几乎每个演讲者都会说错话或做错事。”符合语境,故选E。

Self-driving is helping us travel, but it still faces many problems.
China Youth Daily reported that there are two main types of self-driving systems (系统) today: those that use cameras and those that use LiDAR (激光雷达). Each system has its own problems. For example, Tesla’s system uses cameras and deep learning, without high-precision (高精度) maps. It works well in clear weather but has trouble in bad weather like heavy rain. Other companies, like Xpeng Motors, use LiDAR technology but it takes around 7,000 yuan for each system, making it hard to use widely.
Self-driving cars can have problems when something unexpected happens. When a traffic light stops working, the car might not know what to do because it is made to follow the light. Also, when a traffic officer uses a flag to guide cars, the car might not understand it. When a child runs into the street, the car’s sensors (感应器) might not see the child in time.
Some people are worried about the safety of self-driving cars. Liu Xianghong, an expert from the University of Michigan, said that the cars would need to pass a special driving test before they can drive on public roads. The test should check if the self-driving cars can turn left at a crossroad without a green light, stop at a stop sign, and let people cross the street first when seeing them. This test could make sure only safe self-driving cars are on the road, just like how human drivers must pass a test to drive.

A It is cheaper and easier to get.
