All hotels have been independently reviewed by our expert staff. Chena Hot Springs Hotel Set in the Alaskan wilderness, days at Chena Hot Springs Hotel can be spent wrapped up in a warm coat, enjoying drinks like Appletini at a bar made of ice, or relaxing in natural hot springs. And at nightfall, if Mother Nature cooperates, it’s the Northern Lights that will make you feel like you’re somewhere out of this world. Price: £205 per person per night Talkeetna Alaskan Cottage There is the look and feel of a classic mountainside cottage — an Alaska brown bear specimen (标本) with an estimated weight of 2,000 pounds shares the lobby (大厅) with a massive, two-sided river rock fireplace, which is eye-catching. On a clear day the views of the Denali, the tallest peak in North America, and neighbouring mountains provide the picture visitors come from around the world to take. Price: £114 per person per night A Taste of Alaska Cottage A Taste of Alaska Cottage has an ideal location: close enough to Fairbanks for exploring and to view the Northern Lights. What began in 1947 as a family home has evolved over the years into an enjoyable place where family hospitality (款待) runs deep. Price: £173 per person per night Windsong Hotel The quiet and peaceful Windsong Hotel is located just outside the town of Seward. Kenai Fjords National Park is within easy reach, and stations for scenic tours of the Park are less than a 10-minute drive away. A rental car is recommended. Due to icy road in winter, it operates from mid-May to mid-September. Price: £151 per person per night 1. Which hotel should you choose if you want to view the Northern Lights at a lower cost? A. Chena Hot Springs Hotel. B. Talkeetna Alaskan Cottage. C. A Taste of Alaska Cottage. D. Windsong Hotel. 2. What is special about Talkeetna Alaskan Cottage? A. It has a huge river rock fireplace. B. It has a family hospitality atmosphere. C. It operates for five months annually. D. It is decorated with pictures of Denali. 3. What’s the author’s main purpose of writing the passage? A. To attract readers to travel in Alaska. B. To explain the popularity of some hotels. C. To make comparisons between different hotels. D. To recommend some accommodation options. B Insects are small and found everywhere. That makes insect researchers think they are good for teaching children about nature, which can in turn get them excited about science. So we did a survey to learn more about how public schools use insects. We learned that teachers were most likely to choose vertebrates (脊椎动物) for classroom lessons. We also found many instances of invertebrates used in classrooms. Invertebrates are animals without backbones, like insects, worms and spiders. The most common insects were butterflies, followed by beetles. About 2 in 3 of the surveyed teachers said they do not keep insects or spiders in their classrooms. They said they prefer other animals. Another 1 in 6 said it was because they do not like insects. This information shows how rare it is for teachers to use insects in their classrooms and the small number of insect species teachers select for classroom learning. Many people are afraid of insects. Some people may think insects are disgusting. They say they will feel extremely unpleasant the moment they see the insects. But they’re still a great teaching tool for lots of reasons. For example, insects are useful for an extraordinary range of lessons, from metamorphosis (变形) to diversity. They’re also easy to care for and not very expensive. One reason we think teachers should use insects in their classrooms is that we’ve observed that interacting with insects can help children appreciate nature. Raising butterflies and moths in classrooms, or simply observing these insects outside, gives students the opportunity for a hands-on learning experience. More often than not, observing these insects leads to further inquiry and curiosity about the natural environment in which they’re found. Many studies have all found that kids who have many experiences in nature at a young age have positive attitudes toward animals and the environment. For example, a survey of 1,030 urban Japanese residents found that childhood experience with nature, particularly collecting insects and plants, was a more important factor for positive attitudes towards wild animals. Therefore, it is essential to provide children with opportunities to interact with nature such as collecting plants and animals through free play, learning at nature centers and school summer camps and tourism events. 4 What does the survey show about public schools’ using insects? A. It is better to use vertebrates for classroom teaching. B. Insects are used infrequently in classroom teaching. C. Most teachers prefer invertebrates for education in class. D. Butterflies are the most popular insects all teachers use in class. 5. In which aspect do children benefit from being taught by using insects? A. Learning to raise different insects. B. Freeing their hands and making study efficient. C. Strengthening their inquiring mind to nature. D. Interacting with their teachers in classrooms. 6. Why does the author mention the survey conducted in Japan in the last paragraph? A. To explain the reasons why children like collecting insects. B. To recommend new ways for children to explore nature. C. To praise Japanese effective achievements in education. D. To stress the significance of childhood experience with nature. 7. Where does the passage most probably come from? A. A research journal. B. A course plan. C. A biology textbook. D. An environmental magazine. C We typically use “accent” to describe the way someone sounds when speaking a distinct dialect or a foreign language. The essence of an accent is about pronunciation. Pronunciation plays a major role in language learning, especially for those attempting to reach a native speaker level. Language exchange happens in conjunction with human migration and shifting population demographics The same goes for individuals. Though it’s likely your accent won’t change remarkably once you’ve hit your 20s, it can be influenced by the changing environment around you. Living in a place where you are completely involved in a foreign language is one classic example. After an extended stay abroad, you may find yourself using words you wouldn’t usually include in your daily vocabulary. Your accent is easily picking up external influences, though these changes are typically more subconscious and not obvious. Still, let’s consider some of the reasons for actively wanting to change the way you speak. Most often, an external motivation exists. Actors are famous for wearing accents like a costume. It is impressive to hear Meryl Streep mastering a Polish or an Australian accent, despite having grown up in the United States. While it can be fun to try on different accents, it can quickly lead to impolite and unpleasant interpretations. Such prejudice against non-native speakers leads to another reason for changing speech: The eagerness to lose one’s natural accent in order to fit in or be understood by others. However, it’s a shame when anyone is made to feel they need to change something about themselves to feel accepted. After all, there’s no such thing as a “correct” accent. Accents shift and change, and the only thing we should do is to view them from an objective perspective and accept them naturally. You always have an accent that’s unique to you. Like your own identity, it can evolve over time. If you’ve decided that you want to change your accent, it’s certainly possible to achieve native-like pronunciation. You’ll just need to put in the extra practice! And if that doesn’t appeal to you, then simply accept the accent you already have! 8. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about? A. The pressure of non-native speakers. B. The methods of learning a new language. C. The benefits of achieving native-like pronunciation. D. The influence of external environment on one’s accent. 9. Why are some non-native speakers anxious to abandon their natural accent? A. To compete actively with native speakers. B. To get more opportunities in the job market. C. To make themselves understood or accepted. D. To help the locals in cross-cultural communication. 10. What’s the author’s opinion about changing the accent? A. It’s risky. B. It’s unnecessary. C. It’s impossible. D. It’s advisable. 11. Which is the best title for the passage? A. What is the essence of accent? B. How can you change your accent? C. Can you ever lose your accent? D. Why is it crucial to adapt to accent? D For so long, busyness has become part of who we are. To be busy is to be productive, and to be productive is to be successful. We tend to think having a jam-packed calendar and flying through life at a fast speed are an effective marker of how well we are doing. But a lot of the people who live like this are not actually doing all that well. They are exhausted and overwhelmed. To tackle this, we have to slow down. In recent times there has been a push-back against busyness. More people are trying to find more time for themselves, and say “no” to more invites. “Slow living” enthusiasts will tell you life is better when you’re not moving so quickly. They say taking tasks one at a time, never rushing or over-filling your diary gives you the space to appreciate things as they happen. To my thinking, slow living is all about being conscious of the here-and-now, making considered decisions about how to spend your time, and enjoying the little things in life, which benefits you both physically and mentally. For those living with chronic (慢性的) illness, slow living can be a lifeline. Hannah Hoskins suffers from severe muscle pain, and some days she only has the energy to sit up for ten minutes. “Slow living saved my life. It tells you that productivity isn’t the end goal and that as humans we need to be able to have full lives rather than working nonstop. Realizing it’s literally impossible to ‘do it all’ sets you free to decide if you actually want to do all the things you are doing.” Hannah says that her tip for anyone trying to practice slow living is to start small. “Say ‘no’ to that thing you feel you should do, but actually fear,” she suggests. “When you realize that the world doesn’t end and people don’t hate you if you say no to things, try it again and then just keep going. The more you ask yourself — Is this something I really want to do or am I doing it because I feel I should? — it becomes much easier to just stop doing things you don’t enjoy.” 12. What does the underlined word “jam-packed” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Flexible. B. Crowded. C. Consistent. D. Stable. 13. What does the author think of slow living? A It is beneficial for people’s health. B. It is a lifestyle few people can practice. C. It will boost people’s enthusiasm for their work. D. It allows people to make more preparations for the future. 14. What does the author intend to do in paragraph 3? A. Introduce a patient’s recovery process. B. Highlight the necessity of taking physical exercise. C. Offer some methods for improving working efficiency. D. Prove the benefit of slow living by giving an example. 15. According to Hannah Hoskins, what should you do to practice slow living? A. Finish whatever task is assigned to you. B Decline tasks you fear but feel duty-bound to do. C. Challenge yourself to do a more demanding job. D. Strike up a good relationship with people around you. Reading for pleasure in high school Reading for pleasure is an important part of a student’s academic and personal development. He wanted to leave home and be independent. However, I was worried that he might not take good care of himself when I wasn’t around. One day, my wife, Lisa, found two lonely, hungry raccoon (浣熊) babies in the woods and brought them home. I didn’t like them, but I knew I had to take care of them. I cleaned them, made a bed for them, and fed them. The next morning, they woke up shortly after Lisa left for work. I had my own work to do — writing books at home. “Will you feed them?” I asked Tom. “Sorry, I’m late for school,” he replied. Later, I asked an expert about raising raccoon babies. “The goal is to take care of them until they can go back to the woods and take care of themselves. This fall, they’ll be old enough to be on their own,” he said. After that, I became a day-care “mom” for them and named them Bob and Billy. Soon, they could eat bananas. When July came, I built a cage and moved them outdoors. When they adjusted well, Tom suggested we let them explore the woods and look for food. “What if they get lost or hurt?” I said. “They need to get used to being on their own,” Tom insisted. We left their door open so they could wander during the day. At night, we called them home by hitting their food bowls. Still, I was worried. One afternoon, in the yard, I saw Bob standing on a tree, eating bananas. “Be careful,” I called, rushing for a ladder. “Let him go,” Tom said. “He’s on an adventure. Don’t affect his fun. Your worry will cost him his survival skills.” When September came, the raccoons were six-pound creatures with ringed tails. One evening, they didn’t come home. Tom laughed at my concern. The next morning, they returned, looking healthy and happy. Near the end of September, they were missing for a week. I thought they were probably gone for good. “It’s a mistake to hold on to anything that no longer needs you,” Lisa said. “What if they’re in trouble?” I worried. Weeks later, Lisa, Tom, and I were in the yard. Beyond the gate leading into the woods, I saw a tail with rings. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Hey Tom, should we get Bob a banana?” I asked, but Tom shook his head and said, “No!” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025届高三信息押题卷(二) 英语试题 注意事项: 1. 1. 4. What does the survey show about public schools’ using insects? A A research journal. B. A course plan. C. A biology textbook. D. An environmental magazine. 4. B 5. C 6. D 7. D 9. C 10. B 11. In recent times, there has been a push-back against busyness. A. It is beneficial for people’s health. B. Decline tasks you fear but feel duty-bound to do. C. Challenge yourself to do a more demanding job. D. Strike up a good relationship with people around you. 12. B 13. A 14. D 15. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Hey Tom, should we get Bob a banana?” I asked, but Tom shook his head and said, “No!” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Beyond the gate leading into the woods, I saw a tail with rings. “Look, Lisa,” I whispered excitedly. I called out, “Bob? Billy?” The animal turned its head and looked at us curiously. We stared at each other for a brief moment. Then I called again softly, and the animal cautiously came closer. It was indeed Bob. We knelt down and I held out my hand. He gently touched it with his nose while I comfortably rubbed his neck. “Is he hungry?” I wondered, glancing at Lisa. “Hey Tom, should we get Bob a banana?” I asked, but Tom shook his head and said, “No!”. Tom said Bob’s big enough to find his own food now. Tom, being so tall and strong, wasn’t just talking about raccoons. He was talking about kids growing up. It hit me — it’s time to let go. I gave Bob one last rub and then stepped away. He seemed to understand and happily ran into the woods. “Good luck,” I called. That raccoon, who I used to dislike, actually left me a gift: to let my son go and be independent, without worrying too much. 词汇激活 行为类: ①接近:come closer/approach ②发现:find/spot ③讨厌:rub/hate 情绪类 ①兴奋地:excitedly/with excitement ②快乐地:happily/delightedly 【点睛】[高分句型1] “Is he hungry?” I wondered, glancing at Lisa. (运用了现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] That raccoon, who I used to dislike, actually left me a gift: to let my son go and be independent, without worrying too much.
